The objective of the survey was to find out how Polish learners of a lower-secondary school perceive religious diversity in the school context as well as in a much broader European dimension and what factors they may take into consideration concerning the issue. The analysis is based on the results of the questionnaire Religious Diversity in Europe conducted among lower-secondary students learning English as a foreign language. The questionnaire was created as a joint work of schools cooperating within the Comenius School Partnership, ‘Communication Connects Cultures through Comenius’.

Media exposure and education of first to six grade children from slovenia p...Lazar Stosic
The family environment plays an important role in influencing the way that children use the media and the degree of their exposure to media, however the mediating role of parents in this process is not sufficiently understood. The present paper presents the results of a 2016 Slovenian national survey in which opinions of 2,825 parents concerning their children’s exposure to media were collected and analysed using the SPSS PSAW Statistic 18 software package. Our results show that exposure to media by children from the first to the sixth grade increases with age, that children of parents who are themselves heavy media users are more likely to be heavy users and that children who are heavy media users also receive lower test scores.
The document outlines the methodology and findings of a research project on violence in public schools in Guyana. It includes a cover letter, questionnaire, data collection procedures, presentation of data through bar graphs and pie charts, interpretation of the data, findings, and recommendations. The data shows that males are more aggressive than females, peer pressure is the main cause of violence, and suspension is the most common method used to reduce violence.
This study examined the relationship between social media usage and anxiety. An online survey was completed by 89 participants, measuring their social media usage habits and self-reported anxiety levels. On average, participants spent 3.56 hours per day on social media. Anxiety levels showed a left-skewed distribution, with most reporting below average anxiety. A moderate positive correlation was found between social media usage time and anxiety. Instagram showed a slightly significant correlation with anxiety. While some relationship exists, social media was not found to be a primary cause of anxiety. The study provides initial evidence of a link between social media and anxiety but indicates other factors also influence individuals' anxiety levels.

Awareness and use of career information sources among secondary school studen...Alexander Decker
This document summarizes a study that investigated secondary school students' awareness and use of career information sources in Nigeria. The study found that students were most aware of parents, teachers, and churches as sources of career information. When it came to actually using sources, students reported most often using parents, classmates, and teachers. Students also found information from parents, churches, and teachers to be the most useful for career decision-making. Delays and inaccuracies in information received were among the top challenges faced by students seeking career information. The study recommends that parents help students utilize a wider range of career information sources.
Television viewing habit and violent behavior among school going children (10...pharmaindexing
Background: Television is a window to the outside world for children. More than half of television viewers in India are children below 15 years. Studies suggest that exposure to violence on television influences child’s behavior especially aggressive behavior. Objectives: To assess the television viewing habit and violent behavior among school going children. To determine the association of television viewing habit and violent behavior with their selected demographic variables. To find out the correlation between television viewing habit and violent behavior. Material and Methods: A Non-experimental, Explorative and Descriptive study design was undertaken. Data was collected from 60 school going children selected by stratified random sampling and 60 parents of the same children. A structured questionnaire and rating scale was used for data collection. Results: Findings showed that majority (72%) of samples had moderately high television viewing habit. The overall mean score of violent behavior was (64.7±18.61) suggesting that the school going children had mild level of violent behavior. There was significant positive relationship between the television viewing habit and violent behavior (r=0.50).There was significant association between the television viewing habit and gender (χ2- 5.91, P<0.05) and leisure time (χ2- 4.34, P<0.05). There was highly significant association between violent behavior and gender (χ2- 11.09, P<0.05) and significant association between violent behavior and angry behavior among family member (χ2- 6.43, P<0.05) and leisure time (χ2-6.69, P<0.05).Conclusion: Study revealed that there is significant relationship between the television viewing habit and violent behavior among school children. Nurses could initiate and encourage discussions with the parents in this aspect and generate awareness among them.

This document summarizes a thesis that studied sixth grade teachers' perspectives on how online grading systems affect parent participation. The thesis reviewed literature showing that parent participation positively impacts student outcomes but is often lower for minority and low-income families due to barriers like work schedules, transportation, and feeling unwelcome at school. The study aimed to understand if online grading systems could help by making grades more accessible from home. Five sixth grade teachers were surveyed about the functions and effects of their school's new online grading system. Key findings were that the system provided useful features but was underutilized because many parents lacked computer/internet access or skills to use the system. The study concluded that schools must provide parent training on online systems and make systems more user
The document summarizes research on the relationship between internet addiction and loneliness among college students. It finds that there is a positive correlation between internet addiction and loneliness, with a correlation value of 0.447. This document discusses new research on the risks and opportunities of virtual contact (e.g. social media, video calls) between adopted children and their birth families. A survey found that 9% of adoptive parents reported virtual contact was used, and 64% had searched online for birth relatives. Interviews revealed both risks like negative emotional impacts, and benefits like fulfilling identity needs. Factors like family relationships and individual characteristics influenced experiences. Existing knowledge on traditional contact can inform best practices for virtual contact.
THE USE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS ONLINE: A REASON OF INTERGENERATIONAL CONFLICTS?Stella Pedrosa
The document summarizes research on the relationship between teenagers' use of social networks and intergenerational conflicts. The research surveyed over 400 Brazilian students aged 11-19 and found that most described their social media profiles as accurately reflecting their identities. Additionally, teenagers reported being able to manage their social media use and maintain good relationships with their parents, contradicting ideas of intense generational gaps. The study suggests greater parental involvement online may foster greater family harmony rather than conflict.
This document provides a group profile of an 18-student 5th grade class at Rufino Vigo Elementary School. The profile includes various charts and analyses of demographic information gathered from student questionnaires. Key findings include that most students are female, between 10-12 years old, born in Puerto Rico, live with parents or guardians, have computers at home but limited internet access, enjoy physical activities and watching educational TV, and have various health conditions. The teacher concludes that this information will help with lesson planning, classroom management, and emergency preparedness to better support the students.
Young people spend around 5 hours per day engaged with media such as television, videos, computer games, music, books, computers, and the internet. While media consumption takes up a significant portion of their leisure time, young people generally prefer outdoor activities with friends unless they are bored or filling time between activities. When asked about ideal and boring days, activities like going to the cinema, seeing friends, and playing sports were preferred over watching television. Younger generations are mixing media in new ways as technology evolves, combining different mediums both for entertainment and information.
Adolescent Focal Theories Age-Trends In Developmental TransitionsLuisa Polanco
This document summarizes a study that examines developmental transitions in adolescence using focal theory as a framework. The study uses survey data from three age groups (13-14, 15-16, 17-18) of Scottish youth to analyze age trends in relationships and leisure involvement. The results confirm general patterns found in previous studies, with a few notable findings. Relational transitions showed few gender differences but gender differences emerged in shifting leisure interests. Relationships were also linked to leisure contexts. While family background had little influence, a youth's own socioeconomic status in later adolescence was clearly linked to relationships and leisure.
The document discusses the effects of social media on the academic performance of selected grade 9 students. It finds that students use social media mostly to keep in touch with people and to socialize. While social media helps with schoolwork like homework and projects, students who spend more than 3 hours on social media daily had lower academic performance. Facebook was the most visited site and students mostly used it for chatting and seeking information. While social media can positively impact schoolwork, excessive unrelated use is linked to lower grades. Managing social media use and prioritizing academics is recommended.
Trouble with Parenting Teenagers in Upper Middle Class ProspectiveMd Adnan
This document discusses conflicts between teenagers and parents in upper middle class families in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It analyzes survey responses from teenagers and parents on the main reasons for misunderstandings. Generation gaps, different expectations, and lack of quality communication time were cited as leading causes. Study pressures and social media/internet issues were also frequently mentioned. Most teenagers reported not feeling able to share everything with their parents, while over half of parents said they disclosed their children's personal information without permission. The document outlines hypotheses for common causes of conflicts and provides guidelines for both parents and teenagers to build understanding and healthy family dynamics.
EFFECT OF PARENTS’ INFLUENCE ON SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR AMONG STUDENTS IN SECONDARY ...paperpublications3
This study investigated the effects of parental influence on the sexual behaviors of students in secondary schools in Nyahururu Division, Laikipia County, Kenya. The study found that most parents encouraged their adolescent children to avoid sexual activity. However, parents lacked effective communication skills to effectively discuss sexual matters with their children, making conversations about sex boring and uncomfortable. As a result, over half of students did not find parental discussions helpful for resolving sexual problems. The study recommends that parents adopt more effective communication skills to discuss sexuality in a way that engages their adolescent children.
EFFECT OF PARENTS’ INFLUENCE ON SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR AMONG STUDENTS IN SECONDAR...paperpublications3
Abstract:Increased sexual liberty and early initiation of adolescents into sexual activities have led to irresponsible and risky sexual behaviors among the adolescents. However, regardless of the availability of various sources of information about sexuality and reproduction, the adolescents are yet to adopt safe sexual behaviors. This has raised questions about the effects of parents on sexual behaviors among adolescent students. This study sought to investigate the effects parents' influence on the sexual behaviors among students in secondary schools in Nyahururu Division, Laikipia County. This study adopted an ex post facto research design. A random sample, of 338 respondents, was chosen from the seven randomly selected schools. Data was collected through administration of a structured questionnaire to the selected respondents. The collected data was then processed and analyzed descriptively using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 17 for Windows. The content validity of the research instrument was established by ascertaining that it contained information that answered the research objectives. The instrument was piloted to ensure reliability and it gave a reliability coefficient of 0.82. The study finding indicated that most parents encouraged their adolescent children to have good sexual behaviors. They, however, lacked effective communication skills to pass their good intentions to their adolescent children and thus making their discussions on sexual matters boring and uninteresting. The study recommends the need for parents to adopt effective communication skills that could enable them pass their good sexual intentions to their adolescent children.

Section 15.1Preschool: Giving Children a Head Start?
Prologue
In response to a prompt in a recent class, Akira, a young college student, related how our
everyday experiences with peers and in activities can deeply affect how we develop:
In the world that technology has taken over our communications, I usually
feel lonely. Yesterday I was in a room with my group of friends. Every one
of us was on the phone, either texting or on social media. It was really bad.
There were no words tossing around the room, it was just complete silence.
There were so many opportunities to connect to the people next to you, yet
people were on their phones for no reason. Then, I thought about loneliness
as I looked around the room. Being on the phone is a way to isolate us from
the community. We might have hundreds of friends on social media, but how
many REAL friends do we have? I think we become more lonely when we get
into our phones. At least, I do. I feel sad that we are missing out on living in
the moment. It happens whether we are in a room by ourselves or in a room
full of people. Whenever my partner is on the phone—not even talking—for
a long period of time, I get lonely to the point that I feel like I am not loved or
I cannot talk about my concerns. He is right next to me, and there is complete
silence for hours. What can we do in those few hours without being on the
phone? He didn’t have a phone when we met. We were totally different back
then compared to how we are today. I get really sad when I think how com-
munication has changed.
Akira’s poignant response reveals to us how individual circumstances can have a profound
effect on development for some, and have little effect for others. It also reminds us that we are
all affected by the ways in which technology has transformed social interaction, among young
people especially. Just as the advancement of automobiles and the telephone transformed
social networks during the 20th century, the Information Age is no doubt affecting part of
the foundation of psychosocial growth for today’s generation of children. As this final module
explains, these developments are an extension ...

This document outlines a research proposal that examines the effects of social media on individuals and families. It includes an introduction, research questions, hypotheses, objectives, and a literature review section that summarizes several studies on how social media influences communication skills, relationships, and family interactions. The proposed methodology involves questionnaires with Likert scale responses from young teens and their parents, followed by qualitative analysis. Ethical considerations like informed consent and anonymity are also addressed.

What is the nature of the universe? Does God need a universe? Does God play dice with the universe? Where do we belong as individuals, or as members of a community? These are some of the fundamental questions which have puzzled young people for centuries. What inspires young people? They are looking for a place in the world and to make the Earth the best place to grow up.
What is religious diversity? Is religious diversity worldwide? These and other questions answered with the conclusion: Religious diversity links culture and language.

France has experienced an increase in religious diversity over the past century. While Catholicism remains the majority religion, Islam has become the second largest religion in the country with approximately 4 million followers. Other religions with a significant presence include Buddhism, Judaism, and Protestantism. Secularism is a fundamental principle of the French Republic, requiring neutrality of the state and freedom of religion. However, debates have emerged regarding certain religious practices and symbols in public spaces and schools. In response, France has passed laws reaffirming secularism while also supporting education about different religious cultures.
