2. Relative pronouns
• Relative pronouns are used at the beginning of an adjective clause. They
serve to add more information about the subject or object of the sentence
• The three most common relative pronouns are who, which and that
3. USE OF RELATIVE PRONOUNS
• Who: used to describe people
• Which: used to describe things, animal sor objects in general
• That: can be used for people, animals or things.
4. AFFIRMATIVE, NEGATIVE AND
INTERROGATIVE
• Affirmative and negative
• We can use the relative pronuons to refer an affirmative or negative action of
the subject.
• The basic structure is:
• Subject+ relative pronoun+ the description of the subject
5. Examples:
• The shoes which I bought in the store, (are/aren´t) black
• The kid who went to the party, (is/isn´t) my friend´s son
6. Interrogative
• We can use the relative pronuns to question something about the subject,
but, with a description of the subject.
• Examples:
• What colour are the shoes which you bought in the store?
• Who is the kid who went to the party?
