that revolves around the intricacies of self-analysis and introspection. The difficulty lies in

resonates with personal experiences but also provides room for meaningful reflection.
Choosing a topic demands a delicate balance between finding something personally relevant and
ensuring it aligns with the essay's objective of introspection. This process involves revisiting

2. Petrified Forest History
The Petrified Forest National Park is located in East Central Arizona. The address
of the Park is P.O. Box 2217 Petrified Forest National Park, AZ 95028. It is 218,533
acres, after being expended in 2004. It was first proclaimed a National Monument
on December 8, 1906 by Theodore Roosevelt. It was later established as a National
Park on December 9, 1962. The Park is also located near the southern edge of the
Colorado Plateaus, and is southeast of the Grand Canyon National Park. The Petrified
Forest National Parkis notably famous for its logs that have been turned to stone. The
topography of the area is composed of rivers, washes, mesas, forests, and various
other components. The washes that are in the Park include the Digger Wash,

One piece of this history is the subsurface Paleozoic rocks. Paleozoic rocks are for
the most part hidden in the Park despite being in the Colorado Plateau, which is
likely due to both erosion, and it being buried in other various rocks. Next is the
deposition of the Moenkopi Formation during the early Triassic time period. When
North America was still apart of Pangea, the area that was the Colorado Plateau
was located within close range of the Equator. 300 600 feet of sand and mud were
accumulated during this time, with marine life being included which tells
Geologists that the sea sometimes was in the area. The climate at the time was
warm, with varying times of humid and dry spells. There is very few beds of the
Moenkopi Formation left in the area once again due to erosion. Third is the
deposition of the Shinarump Member of the Chinle Formation. This basal
conglomerate was deposited on top of the Moenkopi Formation. It is made up of
gravel and sand, which indicates that there was water depositing it. The
Shinarump Member also averages between 35 50 feet thick. Next in the geological
history is the deposition of Chinle beds later in the Triassic time period. When the
sea regressed to the west of the area, a large plain was left behind. As the climate
changed, so did the environment. Soon grasslands and marshes began to form in
the area. During this time hundreds of feet of shaly material accumulated which
formed both the Lower Petrified Forest Member and the Upper Petrified Forest
Member. In some parts, these two members are separated by the Sonsela Sandstone
Member, composed of the most petrified wood compared to all other rock units
featured in the Park. The Owl Rock Member is at the top of the Chinle Formation,
and completes it. Near the end of the Triassic time period, tectonic activity was
occurring heavily in the Arizona basin. In the western sea at this time a chain of
volcanoes erupted,
3. Foreshadowing In Sweat Hurston
The short story Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston seems to exemplify what a
dysfunctional marriage is. Hurston uses foreshadowing, irony, and symbolism to
demonstrate the relationship between an abusive husband and a wife. In the story,
it s clear to see that the husband, Skyes, doesn t operate by the saying Do unto
others as you would have them do unto you. Hurston s use of literary elements
shows that Sykes will get what he deserves. In Hurston s Sweat, the reader can see
from the beginning the physical and mental abuse that Sykes places on Delia.
Delia has just come from church and began her work, then Sykes throws a bull
whip on Delia to scare her. The whip is thought to be a snake at first glance, and
Delia is terrified of snakes. Hurston uses foreshadowing here, for an event that will
occur later in the story. The bull whip is also used to symbolize Sykes penis. Just
then something long, round, limp and black... These words describe exactly how
Delia feels about Sykes penis. This is all Sykes is good for, and it s not good, it s just
limp and black.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning Delia is cleaning white clothes and Sykes comes in and steps on
them, making them dirty again. The color white symbolizes purity and innocence,
which is Delia so to speak. Delia is seen as pure, innocent, and even angelic; she is
good. The name Delia associates with the Biblical Delila. Delila emasculated her
Samson, like Delia supporting Sykes by doing white folk s laundry. While Sykes on
the other hand, is the black that he stomped on the clothes. He is bad and evil to
Delia. You sho is one aggravatin nigger woman! Sykes declared. He hates her, which
makes me question why they got married in the first place. Stomping on the clothes
symbolizes the physical and mental abuse to Delia. It also symbolizes what Sykes
has done to Delia, he has taken her beauty from her by beating her so much over the
4. Benefits Of Asthma
It s scary to think that working out could bring on an asthma attack, but the asthma
patients should exercise in asthma. Asthma makes it hard to breathe, so it s not
surprising that many people think it s wise to skip physical activities that lead to
being out of breath in order to avoid the constricting airflow of an asthmaattack. But
that also means missing out on the major benefits of exercise, including getting better
control of asthma.
In addition to helping improve your asthma control, the short and long term benefits
of exercise include boosting your mood, improving your balance, strengthening your
bones, and lowering your risk of cardiovascular disease.
That doesn t mean you should launch into an intense workout routine, especially
6. Counseling For Alcohol And Drug Abuse
In Counseling for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the need to use different techniques is an
integral part of the process. Working with an individual that is either entering into
recovery or actively in recovery, the clinician must take their time with introducing
the 12 Steps. The individual may not be open to the 12 Step philosophies at the onset.
Addictionis very complex and actively affects the person on a daily basis; therefore, it
is so important to start from the beginning of counseling to create a structured
program. Alcoholics Anonymoushas given a wonderful platform of structure for the
addicted ones to create a safe, solid, 12 Step guideline to follow, in order to maintain

In counseling, the individual must begin with gaining trust in the therapist. The 12
Steps may not be introduced at the onset of counseling depending on the stage of
their situation. Often times, it is helpful to gradually work with the person to
explore what they have done in the past and see why it did or did not work for
them. Many times the client will tell the therapist that they have failed with the 12
Steps, so they feel it is not worth trying again. Hearing this statement is key to the
path that now creates the work. There is a great deal of misconceptions about 12
Step programs, and people generally have been misguided. Some of these false
beliefs are that 12 Step programs are Cults, they are for old people, they are religious,
they brainwash people, sometimes they make you want to drink or use after going to
a meeting. These notions are false and inaccurate. It is usually individuals that have
gone to the meetings for a short amount of time and they are unable to sustain
consistency. These individuals do not get involved in service and they often return to
using drugs or drinking again due to not being done, with using substances. In the
therapy interaction, these misconceptions must be heard by the therapist and given
ample time in counseling to talk about and unpacked, for further qualification. This
may take time and patients to hear these feelings and to process with the client. In
facilitating effective treatment while counseling, it

8. Man On Wire Analysis
In an extremely rare occurrence, I watched Man on Wire twice in 24 hours. I
enjoyed the movie, which I watched because of Adam Kempenaar s continuous
praise, but I don t love it enough to merit that second viewing. On the contrary, the
first time I watched it was at 11 p.m. and I had been up since 4:30 that morning. So
my mental faculties weren t at their peak, and I began to doze off even though I
liked the documentary. So I watched it again the next day, at a better time and with
more sleep, to help me clarify why I think this is a very good but not great film.
Man on Wire, James Marsh s 2008 documentary, chronicles the story of Philippe Petit

The walk is gratifying and somewhat beautiful and moving, but you don t quite
know why. Maybe it s because it s fun to see Petit, in photographs, finally realize
his dream. Maybe it s the payoff of seeing the heist accomplished. Maybe it s the
poignancy of seeing someone with such joy atop what became a symbol for
tragedy and loss on 9/11. Regardless of the reason, you certainly feel a swell of
emotion when you see the images of Petit on the wire.
With all that being said, I do think a few things hold Man on Wire back from
becoming a truly great movie. One of those is that the lines between the recreations
and archival footage that Marsh uses is often blurred. That bothered me for some
reason, possibly because I d like to know which one is the truth.
I eventually thought, however, that I don t think documentaries can truly show us
objective reality, so that shouldn t matter. I also thought it didn t matter what was
real footage and reconstructions because regardless the talent displayed in these
segments actually happened and is impressive. Despite these conclusions, I still
found myself pulled out of the movie when I couldn t deduce if the images onscreen
were archival footage or

10. How To Respond To Conflict Is Inevitable Essay
Conflict is a normal adversity that people will experience in their everyday lives.
Everyone will respond differently to conflict. Every situation is different and people
will approach them in different ways. Conflict is something that is inevitable, but
how people respond to conflict is what will really impact them. They way you deal
with conflictin a positive or a negative way will shape the people and situations
surrounding you. Hard times and difficult decisions will change people, whether it

11. What Is The Reasons For Human Resource Planning
2.1 Explain the reasons for HR planning in the organization. What is Human
Resource Planning? Human Resource planning is a systematic analysis of HR
needs in order to ensure that correct number of employees with the necessary skills
are available when they are required. These are the reason for HRP in an
organization. First and foremost, recruitment and selection can assume a vital role in
deciding an organization s viability and execution, if organizations are able to obtain
employees who already possess appropriate knowledge, skills and talents and are
additionally ready to make a right figure about their future capacities. The recruitment
and selection of employees is basic to the performance of an organization, and there
are convincing reasons for getting it right. Inappropriate selection decisions decrease
organizational effectiveness, cancels reward and development strategies, are often
unfair on the individual recruit and can be difficult for managers who have to deal
with unsuitable employees . (Anon, 2016)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, HR professionals work intimately with employing supervisors to impact great
contracting choices, according to the organization s workforce needs. They give
direction to managers who aren t familiar with HR or standard hiring processes to

not the least, we can see that HRP is very important to a company when recruitment.

The American alligator population is continued to diminish today. They are
mainly threatened in the state of Florida. Loss, fragmentation, and degradation of

Safavid and Mughal Empires The decline of the Mongol Empire laid ground for the
Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal empires. These three empires all had military
strength, Sovereign Pride, Religious commitment, and Aesthetic sophistication in
common to varying degrees. The Safavid and Ottoman empires are usually compared
because of the wars that broke out between them and their similar attributes.
However, this will be a comparison of the Safavid and Mughal Empires. The Mughal
empirewas founded by leader Zahir al Din Muhammad, known as Babur (the tiger)
in 1526. When he defeated Ibrahim Lodi, the last of the Afghan Lodi Sultans at the
First Battle of Panipat, where they used gunpowder for the first time in India. The
Mughal Empire is known as a gunpowder empire. With the help of gunpowder
weapons Babur took Delhi in 1526. When Babur died in 1530 he left a loosely knit
empire he called Mughal. The word Mughal was the Persian term for Mongol. The
Safavid Empire s founder was the Persian mystic Sheikh Safi al Din (1254 1334),
after whom the order was named. The Safavid Empire was based in what is today

Feelings of beauty, perfection and obsession are made very clear in The Birthmark
and in Ligeia, Both husbands are obsessed with their beautiful wives. After going
over each of the stories in class the stories made more sense and I noticed small
details that made each of the stories more clear. I pondered to myself if Aylmer truly
loved his wife Georgiana or if he really just obsessed over the idea of perfection. I
also thoughtabout The narrator s drug addiction of opium in Ligeiaand how this could
affect his feelings towards his wife. I do not question that the narrator loved his
wife in Ligeia, but in the birthmark I think Aylmer was truly just consumed with the
idea of perfection which he made it very clear to Georgiana this birthmark was the
cause of her not being perfect. Aylmer could ot possibly of loved his wife if he
thought so harshly of the birthmark on her face. Loveto me is accepting everything
about someone and caring for them. Aylmer said it himself He said It was a defect
and it was more intolerable with every moment of their united lives (Hawthorne

it made sense to me that Alymer might have just not been all there. He was obsessed
with the idea of perfection not realizing there is no such thing as perfect. I pictured
him as a crazy doctor in a lab. At first Georgiana thought of her birthmark as unique

17. Analysis Of Enuma Elish s The Garden Of Eden Essay
The story of Enuma Elish are inscribed on 7 cuneiform tablets which was recovered
by a collector named AH Layard in Iraq. This story has some parallel tales told in the
Old Testament such as Genesis, Exodus and the Psalms. In Enuma Elish presented to
the father and mother as Apsu and Tiamat represented as saltwater and freshwater and
were present before the creation of the universe. The epic begins this way: When on
high ... No heaven HAD Been named, called earth No, not Annunaki ... There was
nothing ... nothing but Old Father Apsu and Mummu Tiamat, Mother of All Living
. This describes a series of Gods that were created and later gained wisdom leading
to a similarity to Genesis presenting the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden
and so says: Increasing in wisdom, in understanding and in ...strength. Apsu planned
to destroy the gods to form a universe of order in a chaotic world. Ea is another god
who kills Apsu to prevent what he had planned. Genesis also describes a world full
of chaos and God decided to give skills to everyone in order to bring a new order. In
Enuma Elish, Ea joins Damkina and has a divine and perfect son whom they call
Marduk. In the tablet fragments, phrases were recited found in the Bible, such as
Divine the womb That bore him (Luke 11:27), My beloved is! My son, who is my
Sun, Sun for all the Heavens (Matt 3:17). Within the epic Kingu mate Tiamat which

This question concerns non fiscal barriers to the free movement of goods in the
European Union. Issues concerning Articles 34,35 or 36 of the Treaty on the
Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) are raised and Brian s potential claim is
against France as the Member State who has enacted measures which may restrict
imports and exports, thereby violating the Treaty. Firstly, considering the licence
required by French legislation to importPS s, this could amount to a selling
arrangement which is defined in the case of Keck as rules that concern who sells
the product and when, where and how they go about it. Those selling arrangements
which apply equally in law and fact will not invoke Article 34 TFEU. As the
product, the PS, in not directly affected, the requirement of a licence may be a
selling arrangement . However the selling arrangement does not apply equally in
law and fact because there is no licence requirement mentioned for domestic
producers of PSs . As the licence discriminates against imports, this may invoke
Article 34 and it is likely to be a measure equivalent to a quantitative restriction
(MEQR). MEQRs were defined in Dessonville as All trading rules capable of
hindering, directly or indirectly, actually or potentially, intra Community trade . In
other words, an MEQR applies only to imports and not to everyone. As the licence is
an additional requirement for imported PSs, and applications are only considered
once a year in August, it makes imports more
19. 529 Plan Advantages And Disadvantages
A 529 account is the go to place for saving for kids college. But before you commit to
this type of plan, you should take a closer look at the details so you know whether it
s really a good choice for you. While this is a popular savings vehicle for saving for
college, it s not perfect. First, let s review what a 529 plan is.
What is a 529 plan?
A 529 plan is a college savings vehicle, known as a qualified tuition plan, that allows
you to save money for your child s college education. By doing so, you get to have
your money grow without paying taxes on it (no capital gains tax and no tax upon
withdrawal).
Named after the section of the Internal Revenue Code that it s written in, 529 plans
are sponsored by states, so different states have different plans. However, you are not
limited to your state s plan (you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of how much money you make, you can continue to contribute to a 529
plan. The benefits of a 529 plan are pretty compelling, as this type of plan is the
most popular college savings vehicle today.
The disadvantages of a 529 plan
There are a few drawbacks of using a 529 plan to save for college. For starters, you
cannot contribute to a 529 plan until the beneficiary child is born. So, if you want
to start saving as soon as you re married, or if your parents want to get a head start
on saving for their future grandchildren, then it won t be through a 529 plan. You ll
have to save somewhere else.
Additionally, colleges consider 529 money in financial aid packages. This means
that your child could receive less financial aid for having money in a 529 plan.
This is the biggest drawback of a 529 plan. Not all savings vehicles are like this. If
you have savings in retirement, it s not included in your child s financial aid
package, for example. But any money that your child receives from a 529 plan will
be included in determining how much financial aid your child

balance sheet as of June 30 on his desk. Close scrutiny of the company s financial
condition as reported in this document suggested to Mr. Firr that the cash flow
picture for the enterprise was deteriorating. In times gone by, the firm had been able
to maintain sizeable cash balances in its bank of account, Tippecanoe Trust Company,
during the major portion of the fiscal year, and had found only modest seasonal
borrowings necessary. Recently, however, a lengthening of credit terms to customers

Shipment had been agreed upon for the latter part of the year. Of the total sales
indicated, only 10 percent were expected to be for cash. Collections on the
remainder were anticipated generally within 60 days of sale. In particular, recent
experience had suggested that roughly one half of credit sales were collected for
during the month following the month of sale and that other one half during the
next subsequent month. Mr. Firr intended to use this pattern as the basis for his
calculations. SPRIVORPCO S woodlot management group had entered into
commitments with various timber growers in anticipation of the sales expected.
Specifically, they planned to purchase hardwood timber in bulk according to the
following schedule: July August September October November December $50,000
50,000 70,000 40,000 30,000 30,000 The cash payments for these deliveries would

purchases, and were expected to follow an identical month by month pattern.
Because of the need to pay wages weekly, however, the cash outlays for labor
21. Essay on Womens Roles in Society
Women s roles have changed so much within the last couple of centuries. In the
older years, women were the sole responsibility of taking care of the children,
doing housework, and pretty much taking care of their husbands. The Story of an
Hour, by Kate Chopin, A Doll s House, Henrik Ibsen, and The Yellow Wallpaper, by
Charlotte Gilman are all literature pieces talking about the roles women have in
society. In The story of an Hour, the main character is not happy in her marriage, and
she finds out that her husband got killed, and she felt very free. In A Doll s House,
the main character is not happy with her marriage, because she feels that she is
being treated like a childish, playful doll, and does not get any respect from her...

The conflict in the story is that Mrs. Mallard is way too happy about her husband

22. General Positivism And The Interpretive Paradigm
Part 1: Purpose
a)Social Science Research Paradigm
The social science paradigm also known as Post positivism consists of testing
hypothesis and research questions that are developed through reasoning. This is done
through measurements and observation. Social scientists aspire to science and they
seek to study human behaviour, interaction and thought in an organized way; which
we can then measure, generalize and replicate. Like any research, post positivism
needs to be backed up by evidence. When a social science research sets out a
research project, it is their goal to find evidence that can either agree or disagree with
the hypothesis or theories. Post positivism, compared to positivism allows more
interaction with the participants of the research project and seeks to highlight the
relationship between universal properties between the variables. The best way to
understand post positivism is by comparing it to positivism and the interpretive
paradigm. Compared to positivism, post positivism is more tolerant for value based
information, however is not focused on qualitative information like the interpretive
paradigm, instead the research is mainly focused on quantitative data.

26. Medical Advancements During The Holocaust
The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it. This is a quote
by the Angel of Death himself, a man who brought medical advancements and
discoveries to the Nazi society. Throughout the Holocaust there have been many
experiments for the better of medicine and the disregard of its patients. These
experiments had no regard to the patient s well being and partly due to the hate of the
victims but mainly due to the medical breakthroughs that brought forth. The holocaust
in retrospect was very beneficial to the medical and experimental society as a
whole. Josef knew from a young age he wanted to do something to make his parents

He then took samples of urine, blood, and mucous as body temperatures lowered.
Through this tortured, Rascher used the data to create the hypothermia treatment
called active rapid rewarming. More than 90 people lost their lives for this medical
advancement (Adams). The patients were usually placed under sun lamps and the
heat was so much that it would burn their skin; one young homosexual victim
cooled over and over again and then revived with the lamps until he was pouring
with sweat; he soon died one evening after continuous test sessions. These
experiments were not only full of hate but also used for the advancement of
medicine and effective treatment of the patient. Some were just out of fascination
and believed they were for the better of the Aryan race. Injecting prisoners with
chemicals, raising and lowering body temperature, and comparing the vitals of twins
under extreme conditions are just three ways doctors of the Holocaust used prisoners
for medical advancement. Since that age and time we have strived to move forward
from that period and time and focus more on the patient s well being rather than the

Paralysis, the incapability to act, has been a key element of many famous literary
characters. Shakespeare s Hamlet is the paragon of paralysis, unable to sort
through his thoughts, Hamlet only makes one decisive action, at the end of the
play. T.S Elliot s transfers Hamlets paralysis in his poem The Love Song of J.
Alfred Prufrock. The name Elliot chose for this indecisive, timid man epitomizes
his character as well as his flaws. J. Alfred Prufrock needs this ranting monologue in
order for him to understand the severity of his paralysis and fear of women and
society. Elliot s poetryis a melting pot of literary allusions and references. The first
lines are directly quoted from Dante s Inferno. Prufrock, as can be interpreted from...

In the next stanza, Prufrock tells himself repeatedly that indeed there will be time.
This repetition is used in order to display Prufrock re assuring himself that he does
not need to meet the women in the room just yet, there will be time for himself and
the woman he loves to meet and talk. Prufrock believes that there is enough time for
his hundred of indecisions and revisions before the taking of a toast and tea.
Not only does Prufrock seem to be afraid of confronting woman talking of
Michelangelo, he seems intimidated by the social settings he must engage in.
There will be time, there will be time, To prepare a face to meet the faces that you

Prufrock s social anxiety results in his worrying how others see him. He thinks
about women s arms and perfume, but does not know how to act. He admits he is
ultimately afraid (line 86) of engaging in social activities. Elliot reveals the height
of Prufrock s paralysis by scrutinizing the absurdity of Prufrock s concerns: Should
I, after tea and cakes and ices, / Have the strength to force the moment to its crisis?
In the next few stanzas, Prufrock describes himself balding, middle aged, and plain
in order to draw in the reader to the point of view of the society. As detailed as
Prufrock scrutinizes his physical appearance, he feels the

32. Greek Theater And Its Impact On The City State Of Athens
When considering ancient Greek life, theater was massively important. This is
apparent by the Theater of Dionysius placement in the city state of Athens, with its
close proximity to the Acropolis and the Parthenon. The Acropolis by definition
meant the high point of the city state, and was on a plateau. Its raised status
highlights its importance, thus radiating that importance onto nearby structures as
well. Although the Greeks valued rational and reason, they also valued their
emotional side as well. All plays were dedicated to the god of emotion Dionysius.

comes from the plays of the playwright Aristophanes. Aristophanes plays express to

sticks to the now known facts of their lifestyle fairly closely. In the play s opening,
Lysistrata, our female protagonist, calls women from not only her home of Athens,
but as we all the Spartan enemy and other places to meet in and is upset at their
untimely arrival. Her neighbor Calonice appears and reassures her they will come
eventually, but they are simply delayed due to having to care for their husbands,
household, and children. In contrast, Spartan women were educated, participated
in sports, and had little to do with the upbringing of their children. In fact, they
only had contact with their husbands for sexual relation purposes. When the
women finally arrive, Lysistrata inquires how many of their husbands are gone
away to war. Some of the women reply their husbands have been gone for months.
Lampito, a beautiful Spartan girl, expresses she is unhappy because her husband
comes home and no sooner grabs his shield and chargers off again. Though
according to our textbook, Spartan women were free to remarry if her husband was
gone away to war for too long. Thus begins the flaws in Lysistrata s plan of how the
women will force the men to claim peace. On the home front, war had a massive
effect on the women and children left behind by

the pH at which the substance had a net charge of zero. The second strip of pH 6.0

What is electrophoretic mobility? Describe two ways in which the mobility of a
molecule is affected during electrophoresis. Electrophoretic mobility is the ability
of substance to migrate during a period of time which is proportional to speed. The
speed and distance a molecule or substance moves in result of the electric field that
electrophoresis applies, can indicate the size and charge of the molecule. Bigger
molecules will move slower than small and greater net charges will move faster to
the opposite charge. 3. For this experiment, your sample was applied to a cellulose
acetate strip and the migration in an electric field was measured at various pH
values. There are other methods that can be used during an electrophoresis
experiment. Discuss one alternative electrophoresis method and compare and
contrast it to the method used in lab this week. In slab gel electrophoresis agarose
or polyacrylamide is used. The conducting buffer is contained in the porous gel
and the gel is then poured in between glass plates. These plates are separated by
spacers. An electric field is applied at the rear after the substance of
experimentation is added to the wells at the top. The substance will then move a
certain distance towards the positive electrode. This method uses gel unlike the
cellulose acetate strips but it still uses a buffer and a electric field to migrate the
substances based on their size and charge. Slab gel electrophoresis is usually used in
the biological

people that enjoy gambling. These people go to casinos and keep on spending money

Cosmetic products include much more than just make up. According to the US Food

are tested the results are not always direct and clear. Some ingredients in cosmetics
are toxic if used in large amounts, but the amount of these ingredients are much less
than the amount used in studies. Experts also do not know how much of the
ingredient is absorbed into the body. Human studies of the long term effects of
cosmetics do not exist, so there is little evidence of the risk of cancer from these
products. This means that cosmetic companies cannot claim that these products are

Documents 3,5,6, 7 and 8 all mention how the economy changed dramatically due
to the arrival and growth of silver as a currency. In document 3, a Ming dynasty
court official writes about how the silver coin is hard to come by because the
government is hoarding all of it. They take silver for taxes but do not redistribute it
to the people. He is writing this because he is trying to convince the emperor to
distribute the silver more appropriately to the people, and because his family is
obviously not doing well financially. He is a court official who most likely has
small influence in the government and writes in hopes of getting the emperor to
consider spreading the wealth to the lower classes of China, to save his family, and
other families like his. Document 5 expresses a different, but somewhat related
view about how silver has become a hindrance to regular business interactions,
because customers can no longer trade items of their own to purchase goods, they
have to go through a lengthy process to pay everything in silver. Document 6 shows
a counter point of view about the wealth that the mining of silver has brought to
Spain. Document 7 is a report written to convince the emperor of China that there is
much wealth to be found in foreign trade, because of how much silver some
countries will pay for Chinese goods. Finally, document 8 examines how European
countries are able to purchase Asian commodities freely because of their immense
supply
38. Meridith s Dream Short Story
Meridith s Dream
I was in an ethereal world, where everything and everyone was light and afloat. A
place where responsibilities and duties were meaningless, because we had all the
time in the world to just float and be free. The weightlessness feeling washed over
me like waves over the seashore. I was immersed in a feeling of mild tranquility. It s
amazing how the world can be renewed just by getting rid of gravity. By defying it.
I looked around. It looked fairly ordinary, it was a small street in this small town. It
could have been any other day, any other sunset at 5:00 pm. But at the same time,
it looked extraordinary. The people hovered above the ground, some street signs
and cars were suspended in air too. As a girl was walking her dog, they both
strolled on the air as if it were like the flat grey pavement laying on the ground
below. I smiled and sighed, for this was a new world. A new beginning for
someplace that was once the most boring town on the Earth. All of the sudden,
darkness quickly flashed across my field of vision, and I woke up, in my bed. I
looked around. My bed laid on the floor, and so did my lamp and my nightstand
next to me. Everything was in it s proper place. How disappointing. I exhaled, a
small little sigh escaping from my mouth. It was just a dream of course, and it was
one I wish I hadn t woken up from. Crawling out of my bed, I stood to look up at
my clock, where it showed it was 9:30. I had slept for a full 8 hours, but I couldn t
shake the feeling of the draining tiredness away. Maybe I should rest a little more,
I thought to myself at first. But at that moment, I had remembered something. It
was my experiment! I suddenly broke out into a smile as I realized what I could
do. Today, I didn t have any work to do, so that meant I could start my experiment.
This experiment could get me one step closer to my dream of defying gravity. In a
sudden burst of motivation and excitement, I ran from my bedroom and sailed down
the stairs to my lab, where my newest invention awaited. After a few months of
extensive research, finding materials and tinkering around with things, I had finally
built my anti gravity chamber. It was a long, cylinder shaped tube, with an opening
that could fit
39. 1984 Figurehead Quotes
Can a country survive with nothing except hatred to others? Joseph Stalin
attempted to rule Russia under this system. He brought fear to the people by
killing people who rejected his rule and anyone who being accuse of dislike Stalin.
Under his rule, the people cannot trust others because people can take advantage
of accusing someone and make that person disappear by the next day. This system
was in use by Nazi as well as INGSOC from 1984. Eventually this system fall after
Stalin died and it only took 29 years. However in the book 1984 by George Orwell,
INGSOC use their power to control the people of Oceania and create a figurehead
as known as Big Brother. Like Stalin, Big Brother use hate and fear to control the
people. Here a matter is that Big Brother is nothing, but a... Show more content on

Starting with resources, Oceania has to run out of resources eventually because
the three superstates Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia cannot conquer each other s
stated from The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism by Emmanuel
Goldstein. The superstates at war with each other s for the North Africa, Middle
East, and South Asia and this require using large amount of resources to keep this
war going. For example, Winston has to hoarder the razor blade stated from this
quotes, Actually he had two unused ones which he was hoarding up (Orwell, 48).
Resources are limited, but not unlimited and if those resources ran out then the
purpose of war will died. For the superstates, war is power to control their people to
give them reason to have war. Ingsoc use this type of purpose to make people to
love Big Brother. If the war died because the resources, then there will be peace and
peace can make people to think again, which Ingsoc does not like when people think
outside of their principle. Therefore Ingsoc keep the war going and if the war died,
then Big Brother will die with
40. Impact Of Trade On The International Trade Market
The international trade of goods across the world accounts for approximately 60% of
the world Gross Domestic Product (The World Bank, 2014). A great proportion of
goods transactions occur every second. The primary question is whether international
trade benefits a country as an entirety, and, if so, why would a country implement
protective trade policies to restrict particular exports? To address this question, this
essay aims to explore the impact of trade on various economic stakeholders, including
consumers, producers, labour and government and, furthermore, will compare models
and theories with reality to ascertain the true winner/ loser in the international trade
market.
According to the Ricardian model, free trade allows a country ... Show more content

Consumers definitely benefit from increasing purchasing power in terms of lower
relative prices.
Nonetheless, the real prices of certain commodities such as lamb, tobacco and beef
have increased over time due to increasing world average income, which
encourages world demand. Interestingly, developing countries, which form the
predominant exporters of primary commodities, earn lower relative prices over
time, for instance, palm oil arrives primarily from Indonesia and Malaysia and raw
sugar arrives mostly from Brazil and Thailand. Contrariwise, the world suppliers of
lamb are the United Kingdom, Spain and Australia and, moreover, 14% of world
bovine meat arrives from the United States (Simoes, 2013). Therefore, it can be
argued that greater advantages are granted to suppliers in developed countries than
those in developing countries by trade liberalisation.
Aside from the impact on price, the opening of an economy attracts imports into the
domestic country, which results in the provision of variety for consumers. For
example, eleven mobile phone companies control 66.6% of the world market share,
inclusive of Samsung, Sony, Apple, Nokia and Huawei. These companies originated
in Korea, Japan, United States, Finland and China respectively (Williams, 2015).
Consumer s gain from choice and, therefore, higher utility can be achieved.
In recent years, the US has increased tariffs on the steel industry in order to restrict
41. Double Standards Of Women In The 18th Century
Persuasion is the last complete novel ever written by Jane Austen, it was originally
published in 1818. At the initial sight, we feel that this book is a delightful story
about Anne Elliot finding love with Captain Frederick Wentworth again.
Accompanying her throughout this story is her arrogant father, dear friend Lady
Russell, and her sisters. As we continue to read we see Jane Austenindirectly
discourages the double standard women experience during this time period. I regard
this novelis classical literature, due to the fact that women still face double standard
of men today. We see the everyday complications women had in the 18th century
through Anne Elliot, a young, intelligent women of the 18th century. Women of Jane

Today this difficulty still exists. Women make up half of the workforce. Studies
show that women often go to college longer and graduate with higher degrees than
men do. But yet, today women still make less than men. In 2015, female full time
workers made only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of
20 percent (Pay Equality and Discrimination www.iwpr.org). Women can do the
same jobs as men and still make less. This is consistent in almost every occupation.
Double standards against women are still as much of a problem today as it was
then. Women today can still relate to the double standards women faced in the 18th
century. This would make Persuasion classical literature, literature that has enduring
qualities that can still be applied to present times. Women then were thought of as
inferior to men, and incapable of the things men were capable of. This still relates to
today, women still get paid less and are still thought to be inferior to men. Both then
and now women have proven to be just as good as men, so why has nothing
changed? Jane Austen tells the story in Anne Elliot s perspective of things to show
the double standard women had to face. We watch as Anne Elliot changes Wentworth

42. Obesity Is An Abnormal Collection Of Body Fat
In recent years obesity and diabetes have become one of the major challenge to
Australia. Obesity is an abnormal collection of body fat, usually 20% or more of the
total individual body weight. In simple words obesity can be defined as the cause of
energy intake being greater than energy output (Energy Input Energy output). Obesity
is associated with increased risk of illness, disability, and death. Diabetes mellitusis a
chronic disease that significantly affects the health of human beings. The recent
research clearly shows that 4% of total Australians are victims of diabetes. Many
people in Australia are affected by obesity. According to Australian government
statistics 61% of Australian adults are overweight or obese. The World Health... Show

There are 6 main nutrients present in the food such as carbohydrates, protein, fats,
vitamins, minerals and water. But according to chemistry, foods can be classified as
micro nutrients (vitamins and minerals required in small amount) and macro
nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins and fats required in higher amount). Carbohydrates
can be classified into two different classifications as sugars (monosaccharides and
oligosaccharides) and non sugars or polysaccharides according to its chemical
structure. The whole classification of carbohydrates can be classified as follows.
Monosaccharides are mostly common five carbon or six carbon poly hydroxyl
ketones and aldehydes. Monosaccharides can be also called as simplest sugar such as
glucose, galactose and fructose. Two monosaccharides are able to join together in
condensation reactions by using glycosidic linkage to from disaccharides. Maltose,
lactose and fructose are the examples of disaccharides. The most complex form of
the sugars are polysaccharides and they contain many monosaccharides connected
through glycosidic linkage. Both disaccharides and polysaccharides do hydrolysis to
produce components of monosaccharides which be absorbed by the body.
The glucose is the primary source of energy and it s the simple sugar body prefers.
When glucose enters the body, body stimulates pancreas to produce insulin. Insulin is
one of the hormone produced by pancreas to regulates the carbohydrates and
metabolise the body fat.

Toward a Recovery of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks
While researching texts written about nineteenth century farming, I found a few
authors who published books about the literature of nineteenth century farming,
particularly agricultural journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures. These
authors often placed the farming literature they were studying into an historical
context by discussing the important events in agriculture of the year in which the
literature was published (see Demaree, for example). However, while these authors
discuss journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures, I could not find much
discussion about another important source of farming knowledge: farming
handbooks. My goal in this paper is to bring this source into the agricultural literature
discussion by connecting three agricultural handbooks from the nineteenth century
with nineteenth century agricultural history.
To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four main sections, two of which
have sub sections. In the first section, I provide an account of three important events
in nineteenth century agricultural history: population and technological changes, the
distribution of scientific new knowledge, and farming s influence on education. In the
second section, I discuss three nineteenth century farming handbooks in connection
with the important events described in the first section. I end my paper with a third
section that offers research questions that could be answered in
44. Relationship Between Language And Diglossia
Language is used by different people in various situations. As an aspect of study of
the relationships between codes and social structure, diglossia is an important
concept in the field of sociolinguistics. The term diglossia refers to a situation in
which two dialects are used by a single language community.
As an aspect of study of the relationships between codes and social structure, diglossia
is an important concept in the field of sociolinguistics. At the social level, each of the
two dialects has certain spheres of social interaction assigned to it and in the
assigned spheres it is the only socially acceptable dialect (with minor exceptions). At
the grammatical level, differences may involve pronunciation, inflection, and/or
syntax (sentence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Certain circumstances imply the use of one of the codes, language A, to the
exclusion of the other, language B, which can only be used in situations from which
the first language is excluded. This definition comprises many variations, however.
Although there are diglossic situations in a way in the majority of societies, for
example in Britain, there is a contrast between the English used in exchanges
between friends or while shopping and that used in university lectures or at public
conferences, it must be emphasized that the preferred use of this term is in reference
to societies in which the contrast is particularly marked and often backed up by the
recourse to two distinct reference terms for the varieties in use (for example, French
/creole in the majority of French creole speaking areas). Generally, these diglossic
situations are situations of language conflict whereby one of the languages is termed
the high variety in contrast to the other which is considered low with the former
being used in communication situations considered noble (writing, formal usage, and
so on) and the latter being used in more informal circumstances (conversations with
close family etc.). Speakers have sometimes been known to question whether this
second variety is, in fact, a real
45. Summary Of Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress
The Chinese Revolution was a time of hard and fast change in the country of
China, society as citizens knew changed drastically and the lives of millions
changed dramatically. Dai Sijie captures this struggle in the story of Balzac and the
Little Chinese Seamstress . This story follows the tale of two boys, the Narrator and
Luo, who were stripped of their old lives and sent to Phoenix Mountain for re
education . Upon living in the mountains the two boys eventually meet a girl referred
as the Little Seamstress , Luo and the Seamstress hit it off and the tale of their
romance is shared throughout this book. For example, in the passageof Luo s Story
we are given the view of the Seamstress s relationship with Luo through Luo s eyes.
The two are enjoying themselves at their own watery paradise as Luo puts it, during
this passage we learn of Luo s views about the Seamstress and the importance of the
keyring, his personal talisman he s taken with from his old life. During this passage,
the importance of Luo s relationship with the Seamstress reveals Luo s possessive
grasp upon the Seamstress and the hopethe Seamstress believes in not only for
herself but for Luo. In the first section of Luo s Story , the idea of Luo s possessive
personality takes flight right from the start. Throughout the first section Luo uses a
very pompous tone to explain his accomplishments he was able to teach the
Seamstress. Luo s self righteous tone and mannerisms he expresses about the
