This document provides information about recount texts: 1. A recount text retells past events or experiences to inform or entertain the audience. There is no complication among participants, unlike in narratives. 2. The purpose of a recount text is to retell events for informing or entertaining. Its generic structure includes an orientation introducing participants, place and time, events describing a series of past events, and optionally a reorientation with the writer's personal comment. 3. Language features of recount texts include using first person pronouns, chronological connectors, linking verbs, action verbs, and simple past tense. 8. My Day
I had a terrible day yesterday. First, I woke up an hour late because my alarm
clock didn't go off.Then, I was in such a hurry that I burned my hand when I was
making breakfast. After breakfast, I got dressed so quickly that I forgot to wear
socks.
Next, I ran out of the house trying to get the 9:30 bus, but of course I missed it. I
wanted to take a taxi, but I didn't have enough money.
Finally, I walked the three miles to my school only to discover that it was Sunday!
