Marketing EDGE Collegiate Summit – Digital
Dear Marketing EDGE Collegiate Summit Selection Committee,
This letter is in recommendation of Thuriya Sai for your Marketing EDGE Collegiate Digital Summit and Travel Grant. Over
the past two and ½ years, I have had the opportunity to get to know Thuriya as a UNLV AMA Officer, a student, and
International Case team member. In my opinion, he possesses all the necessary characteristics and skills to be a great addition
to your Summit. Thuriya will bring a plethora of technology knowledge, and a marketing orientation to the student group.
Thuriya is marketing major here at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has gained significant marketing experiences by
participating in the UNLV American Marketing Association. While he is just now finishing his sophomore year at UNLV,
Thuriya has been a part of the UNLV AMA leadership team for two years. He currently serves on the AMA executive
committee as Executive Vice President. This is a critical role for our organization. Thanks in large part to his leadership and
organizational skills; the UNLV AMA was once again awarded the Gold Chapter Status placing the UNLV AMA in the top
four chapters nationally. In addition he is our webmaster and our technology “go to” person. In addition, for the past two years,
Thuriya has been a team member on UNLV AMA’s prestigious International Case Team, which placed second last year and
tied for third this year. Thuriya was responsible for the online marketing component of the plan including the social media and
mobile components.
In addition, Thuriya has excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills. He possesses the added bonus of being
bi-lingual with fluency in both English and Burmese. He has broad experience representing himself at school, at work, and in a
variety of leadership and volunteer organizations. He is a confident and articulate communicator and a good listener. He
presents himself in a very professional manner. I believe these are essential skills for anyone attending the Summit and
representing our University.
Finally, Thuriya is a quality person. He is genuinely interested in the well being of others. I have found him to be a mature
individual, who has demonstrated time and again, empathy and concern for his fellow students and others less fortunate than
him. The Travel Grant is likely to make the difference on whether or not Thuriya can attend the Summit. This is exactly the
type of student for which the Marketing EDGE Collegiate Summit Travel Grant was established. Since he is only a sophomore,
he makes a great candidate to send to this Summit. It is without reservation that I recommend him for your program. If you
need any additional information feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
John A. Schibrowsky, Ph.D.
