3. Introduction
Research articles create the basis for many studies.
Information that would not be available for analysis without the assistance of
subject matter experts' data can be gathered by other researchers.
The scope of research articles requires authors to rely on one another's
findings in order to arrive at relevant and reasonable conclusions
I want to criticize this article and find its strength and weakness through
Kuperās key checklists.

4. Summary of the Article
Assessing qualitative research is about using judgment not ticking boxes,
so my comments wouldn't only be limited to the key question framework
proposed by Kuper et al.
This qualitative research review focused on a study on domestic violence
that was a cross-sectional, semi-structured interview.
The disclosure of domestic abuse is a significant public health concern that
affects both mental health practitioners and service consumers.

5. Evaluation of the Article
1. Appropriate sample size to its research question
Sample Size
Eighteen mental service users and twenty mental healthcare professionals
participated in this study.
This was possibly too small a sample, however in the methods section the
authors mentioned that saturation of themes was obtained after recruitment of
18 service users and 20 mental healthcare professionals.

6. Appropriate sample sizeā¦
So, in a qualitative study if saturation of themes has been reached, then
there is no need for more interviewees
The sample size taken seemed to be appropriate.
However, two of the participants among service users were male and the
rests were female-
There is definitely not an appropriate diversity in sex and gender.

7. Appropriate sample sizeā¦
Sampling Method
via announcements in neighborhood volunteer sector newsletters, community
mental health facilities, and care coordinators.
These techniques are suitable as the study needs volunteers who are willing to
provide personal data.
For such a study, volunteers would only be those who were willing to accept this.
On the other hand, selection bias is a problem, as the article noted.

8. Appropriate sample sizeā¦
Interviewing appropriate persons
They also ensure the ethnic composition of the sample is representative of
the local population which is likely to reflect the socio-cultural concepts of
domestic violence.
However, they sample lots more women than men in the users but not the
professionals group.
This is probably appropriate as their background explored that domestic
violence was more of a problem in female service users.

9. 2. Appropriate data collection
Data was collected through interviews with professionals specialized in
conducting such them.
The authors used thick description and could give the reader a sense of what it
was like to be in the research setting.
An iterative process was used, codes assigned, themes were constantly checked
and modified appropriately throughout the study.
10. 4. Appropriate analysis
The interviews were analyzed thematically.
The themes were coded &
These codes were cross checked at one point in the study to ensure
reliability.
It is thought to be an appropriate method of analysis.

11. 4. Transferability
Limited, as they state in the study itself, by the specific population the
study is researching.
This mix of ethnic minorities in a London borough may not reflect
same themes as in a white majority population of the west countries

12. 5. Reflexivity/Ethical
Ethics in qualitative research should encompass complicated questions of
authority, reflexivity, and secrecy in addition to the constraints set forth by review
boards.
Since reflexivity relates to acknowledging the impact a researcher has on the
research process, it is a crucial concept.
However, there was no discussion of it.
The authors have not disclosed the standards by which these institutes granted
them ethical clearance to address confidentiality and anonymity concerns.

13. Conclusion
Overall Impression
Limited reflexivity on the research process and discussion of ethical issues
that could arise with discussion of this topic are its major weaknesses.
Strengths include clear methodology & analysis and its clinical
recommendations.
