PDHPE contains so many elements Only 2 lessons a week! Too often neglected in favour of other KLA’s! Many important life skills! Students need to ‘experience’ healthy lifestyles!
- Promotes understanding of healthy lifestyles, growth and development. - Assists communication skills in a range of social contexts and relationships. - Encourages regular physical activity, and makes moving FUN! - Helps students make informed decisions in many aspects of life. PDHPE helps our lives in so many ways!!!!! PDHPE treats the whole person - helping students lead healthy and fulfilling lives!!!
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - Besides the health benefits, students can also learn social skills, teamwork, and make new friends! - Participating in regular physical activity can lead to developing an active lifestyle that will continue throughout their lives. * Children need at least 60 minutes (and up to several hours) of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day.   Australian Government - Department of Health and Ageing   Many children aren’t given this opportunity in an increasing sedentary lifestyle. School may be their only source of physical activity!!!!
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND HEALTH Teachers can serve as important role models for healthy living. 61% of Australian adults  are overweight or obese. -  Australian Bureau of Statistics - Once a child becomes obese, it’s very likely to persist into adulthood. This can then lead to the many physical and emotional consequences! - It’s important to develop a healthy lifestyle NOW!!! School is a great place for modelling healthy lifestyles! - Personal Development and Health encompasses areas from positive relationships to nutrition to safe living - All vital life skills!!!!
