PDHPE is an important subject for primary schools for several reasons: It promotes physical activity and an active lifestyle, encourages informed decision making and responsible actions, and focuses on developing fundamental movement patterns and lifelong skills. PDHPE also enables understanding and valuing oneself and others through cooperation and teamwork. Additionally, it allows students to grow and develop patterns in many aspects of health including physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Some key benefits are increased confidence, feeling accepted, and learning teamwork skills. PDHPE introduces students to and helps them develop important moving, problem-solving, communication, interacting, and decision-making skills.
