PDHPE
Just as important as the other subjects
• PDHPE is important for students as it encourages and develops:
1. Healthier well being of students through physical activity and
greater nutritional information.
2. The understanding of others, the values that they hold and how to
respect these values.
3. And the ability to make decisions and act on the students own
accord.
All these features of the PDHPE subject are important not just in
school, but in life development.
What skills help develop this and why
will kids like it?
• Students learn skills such as communicating, problem solving,
interacting, moving and decision making. As the students reach
higher stages of primary education they will play different range of
enjoyable games involving team work and competitiveness, this is
essential to developing a greater understanding of their peers and
how to communicate and interact with them. The theoretical side is
also fun and interactive and informs the students a great deal in key
areas such as sex education, drug use and other important things
for kids being introduced to these things.
Its not all sport
• Although PDHPE is strong in keeping the kids active by playing
games, it is not only games where the kids can keep active.
The students participate in different types of dancing and
gymnastics as well as ball games. Along with this proper
technique of skills are developed, students are encouraged to
find a personal identity, taught about their developing body
and also informed of road safety. These are just a few
important parts of the PDHPE syllabus that are very important
for kids.
Why is it important?
• Although it is perceived that PDHPE is less
important then other subjects such as Math
and English, PDHPE is, in my eyes just as
important for students to develop greater life
skills, greater knowledge of the risks of
drugs, sex education and values and behavior.
• PDHPE keeps kids healthy both physically and
mentally, and also teaches them what is right
and wrong to eat. Personally PDHPE is one of
the most essential subjects for developing
kids, and allowing them to understanding
why and how they are developing.
