This rational expressions and equations assignment asks students to create an informative poster or brochure illustrating two types of expressions and two types of equations. Students must select one question of each of the four types listed and show the steps to solve it, explaining the process as if to someone unfamiliar with the topic. The poster will be graded based on inclusion of detailed steps, correct work and answers, and neatness or creativity. The total marks possible are 20.

1. Rational Expressions/ Equations Assignment
DUE: Thursday, May 31 at the start of class
Your job is to create aninformative poster or brochure illustrating the 2 types of
expressions we have learned about in section 7.4 and the 2 types of equations we have
learned about in section 7.5. You need to select 1 of each of the four types of questions
listed below. Then, for each question, outline the steps used to solve and include the
correct solution. You are to include steps as if you are explaining the questions to
someone who has never learned this before (i.e. your sibling or grandma).
The two types of expressions are:
1) Expressions with a Binomial Denominator (Similar to p.562 Example 1)
2) Expressions with a Trinomial Denominator (p.563 Example 2)
The two types of equations are:
1) Equations with Binomial Denominator (p.580 Example 2)
2) Equations with Binomial and Trinomial Denominators (p.582 Example 3)
Note: You cannot use the examples as the questions you choose.
Each question will be marked based on the following criteria:
- Detailed steps written (2 marks)
- Correct work show including NP values (2 marks)
- Correct answer given (.5 marks)
- Neatness/Creativity (.5 marks)
