This document compares Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR). CR uses imaging plates that are exposed to X-rays, scanned digitally, and viewed on a computer. It eliminates darkroom chemicals but images take 1-3 minutes to produce. DR uses flat panel detectors connected directly to a computer to convert X-rays into digital images, allowing immediate viewing on computer. While DR is more recent and expensive, it provides quicker analysis without the delay of scanning imaging plates. Both are replacements for conventional film radiography and offer advantages like simplified digital workflows and analysis.
