1. What creative decisions did you have to make to solve problems
and how did this depart from your original plan?



The radio advert was originally about 40 seconds long, I had to cut out
certain parts of the radio to make it shorter. Doing this used up a lot of
time, meaning I had to give up my plan on only focusing on adding
effects and getting rid of popping sounds from the microphone.
2. Both individually and working with others how did you
work and what challenges did you face?




Me and my partner first had trouble with working on a
script for the radio advert but we eventually managed to
come up with something. For our radio script we got a
third person to help us read out one of the characters in
the radio script. He listened to what we said allowing us to
get the job done quickly. Me and my partner didn’t argue
or disagreed with anything which allows us to work at a
good pace.
3. What advertising techniques did you use to
hook your intended target audience?



We used repetition of the shop name. Doing this will make
the audience remember it well and next time they want to
buy clothing, they might think of ‘Waves’.
4. How did technology enable the creative process? Was it
difficult to use any of the equipment and did you learn any
skills?



Technology allowed me to record the radio advert and
allowed me to add certain effects to the ad. The equipment
wasn’t hard to use but I encountered many difficulties with
using the program ‘Audacity’. The program kept crashing and
wouldn’t allow me to edit when I add music to the radio ad,
which used up a lot of my time… Using audacity gained me
experience of creating a ‘sound only’ media.
5. What conventions of radio adverts have
you used or not used and why?



We used the following conventions on our radio advert:
Website, exaggeration and persuasion. we’ve not used any
of the other ones because we were to focused on writing a
script… As for the music or jingle ‘Audacity’ kept crashing
when adding I tried adding it.
6. What or who are you representing in your
advert and how?



We were representing our advert mainly to males of all ages
that would like to get surfing clothes or accessories. I’ve
shown this by having only two males having a conversation
about wanting to get surfing clothes, and I’ve included in
the advert that you can get accessories and not just surfing
clothes.
7. What feedback did you get and did this
help you realise anything about your product?



I received many feedback on how to improve
my radio advert, such as getting rid of the
popping and breathing sounds of the
microphone and also to add bedding music to
my radio advert. I learnt a lot and next time I
make a successful radio advert..
