Mail and fax considered very similar and the web-based/email approach was found dissimilar to both. Certain methods lend themselves better considering time constraints.
Scanning questionnaires – reduces time for completion and reading; reduces human error in misreading a correctly made mark but leaves no room for interpretation of marks; best for “check the box” type formats Expensive for physically mailing AND for the time to prepare Illiterate and less-educated people rarely respond to mailed surveys The general public, organization members, company employees and all other groups have some kind of address, while not every household, business and organization has a fax machine and/or email/web access
