1) Do you think Adele’s CD artwork relates to the genre of music associated with her?

The pie chart shows the results we gathered. We were also given information as to why they
thought this and some of our results show that people would have thought her music was ‘classic
soul-like’ album and ‘emotional’ due to the facial expressions, body language and the darkness of
the CD cover that represents the genre.
2) What do you like about the artwork?
Many people told us that they thought that the black and white of the CD cover created a bold,
appealing contrast. They also liked the framing and composition of Adele placed onto the cover, the
lighting defining her facial features and many people also told us that they liked the font used for the
artist and album name.
3) What do you dislike about the artwork?
Many different parts about the CD cover that were criticised were the font and the dullness of the
picture on the cover – lots of people pointed out the fact they didn’t like the highlight of darkness on
her chin as it seemed to make her look unnatural. Some people also didn’t like the fact that the
cover was black and white; however, many people liked this when asked what they liked about it.
4) What would you improve about the artwork?
We were suggested by many people that the artwork would have looked much better if colour was
added and that a different picture was used instead to make it seem less ‘emotional’.
