RESEARCH
 Since creating the student magazine for the preliminary task I feel I
have learnt more about the style of research that is needed. For
example focus groups and questionnaires and I learnt how this helps to
create a more targeted magazine to a particular audience/social group.
 The focus group I conducted helped to get my target audiences
opinions and then I was able to alter the magazine to fit this audience
more precisely. This then helped me to choose a colour scheme &
choose which name was preferred most for the magazine.
 I also found when conducting my primary and secondary research that
with this style of magazine (pop genre) did also always contain a sub
genre of fashion however I made this the minority as I wanted it to
remain focused on the music side of the magazine.
 As I researched the music industry within my research I feel my
knowledge on the genre I choose and the music industry in general has
became a lot wider as I now know more about different companies and
the genre I choose which has then helped me to create a better more
detailed magazine with features that fit better with the specific genre.

KNOWLEDGE
 Within the preliminary task I struggled to learn all the keywords
needed however I have learnt through this task how to keep up
with them by thoroughly revising them and practising them till I
know what they all are. This also helped me produce my contents
page of the magazine better to fit the codes and conventions as I
now know them well.
 Also, I was able to add more features to the magazine like an
editors note, social media links and page numbers to fit
corresponding images as since the preliminary project I have a
larger understanding of what is put on to published magazines
and therefore I was able to then do this myself aswell.
 Another thing that’s progressed since making my preliminary
magazine is my IT skills and this then helped me to be able to
produce a more concise magazine which fits more of the codes
and conventions needed to make it successful.
