1. 6) We found that, since we used one of our own cameras, we found it less hassle
trying to learn the camera functions and how to handle it. The only thing we
found challenging was trying to set up the camera for filming the final scenes.
Although in the end we managed to correctly set up the track and film our scenes
properly. The first problem we had was trying to get hold of costumes that were
suitable for filming. To get past this issue we spent a day going from shop to shop
looking for clothes. Another issue was, on the first filming attempt, the camera
ran out of battery. This meant we had to re-schedule our filming day. The last
real issue we had to solve was trying to find a good fake blood, as no shops were
selling fake blood we could find, we had to use Tomato Ketchup. We were happy
with the results we got from the ketchup.
One of the things we learnt about editing is how to use Final Cut Express
effectively to create the desired mise en scene, for example the black and white
effect. A very interesting technique (used in films with noire influences such as
“Sin City”), which shows the red when the rest of the film is black and white, was
also used in our opening sequence. We also used the cross fade transition to
make the transition seem smooth and not intrusive. For our soundtrack, we did
not use GarageBand, as we found that we could not get the results we wanted. As
music tech students, we have access to advanced music production software,
meaning we can achieve a completely original, better sounding soundtrack
