Our film, called "The Aggregator", is an independent, low-budget action film about a loan shark and his debt collector. It would be best distributed by an independent distributor like StudioCanal UK, rather than a major studio, since it has unknown actors, a small budget, and niche target market. An independent distributor could relate the film to British audiences as an independent British production, and help increase its popularity both domestically and abroad, as they did for the similar low-budget British film Four Lions.

2. Our Film
Our Film is called ‘The Aggregator’. It is a typical
action film, based around a Loan Shark and his debt
collector who has to complete the jobs he is given no
matter what. In the first two minutes we see the debt
collector get a job and hold the debtor at gunpoint.

3. Mainstream Distribution
Mainstream distribution refers to products (Film) that are readily available and appealing
to the general public. Mainstream distribution is generally reserved for film franchised
or sequels and films produced by big companies like Warner Bros.
It is unlikely our film would be accepted by a mainstream distributor as our film
is bespoke. It has a small budget and unknown actors. Mainstream distributors could
have been beneficial to our film as they could raise extra popularity for the film.
An example of a Mainstream distributor is Metro Goldwyn Mayer. MGM are famous
distributors because of their link to the James Bond franchise. They specialise in Tv and
Film distribution. If MGM were to distribute our film, it would be likely that our budget
would be bigger, which would result in the action scenes in our film becoming more
believable due to better special effects and props. Also famous actors may have been
hired to play in the roles.
James Bond Casino Royale is a similar film to ours. It focuses on the special agent James
Bond like ours focuses on the debt collector Jason Kable. When researching into our
film I look into this film and found that they are both a Action/Thriller film and have
themes like gunfights, car chases and assassination, which is what we intended to
include in our film.

4. Independent Distribution
Independant Distribution is the exact opposite to Mainstream Distribution. Independent distribution
refers to bringing products (Films) to the market and attention of potential consumers that is not
necessarily easily available and appealing to all the general public. Independent Distributors tend to
work on films that are either low budget productions or more bespoke (Unusual storyline/Targeted at a
niche market)
As our film is low budget with fairly low production values (Compared with high budget films) and
unknown actors as well as a small/niche target market, it is more likely that an independant distributor
is going to take this film on.
An example of an independant distributor we could use is StudioCanal UK. This is a company that
specialises in distributing films that are independently produced in Britain, Ireland and America. This
company would be a perfect company for us to use as they specialise in independent films, so they will
be used to working with low budget films. Also they operate in Britain, which as our film is an
independent British film , they will be able to relate this film to British audiences, as we planned to do.
The links abroad may also be useful to help increase overseas popularity.
StudioCanal UK (formerly Optimum Releasing) were involved in the Film Four Lions. This film like ours
is an independent british film that was in fact filmed very close to us in Sheffield. Despite a low budget
and fairly low production values, this film became very popular. A trait we would like our film to have.
