Question2 – How doesyour title and openingsequence representparticularsocial groups?
In mytitle openingsequence, throughoutthe sequencethe audience canclearlysee the male social
groupand alsothe teenage social group.Inmytitle openingsequence,Ihave representedteenagers
ina positive fashion.Teenagersare mytargetaudience andmy maincharacter isa teenagertomake
it more relatable.Ihave presentedteenagerstobe physicallyfitasinmyvideothe protagonistis
goingon a jog ona nice springafternoon, butinstantlywe see himinsportsgear [1]
.Not onlythisbut
at the start of the video,we see himstretchingwhichillustrateshow stretchingisaroutine thingand
reinforcesthathe doesregularexercise.Ichose thisspecificcostume of Adidasshoes,joggersand
Admiral jacketasit fitsthe exercise whichhe will be conductinglaterinthe videoandtoalsorelate
to my targetaudience asthese are brandswhichteenagerswouldaimtohave intheirclosetasthey
are fashionable.
Furthermore,Ihave presentedteenagerstobe fairlymaterialistic.Inmyopeningsequence,my
protagonistiswearingpopularclothingbrands,suchasAdidas [2]
andAdmiral [3]
. This conformsto
the stereotype thatteenagersandyoungadultsthrive tobe stylishandthattheyare verybrand
orientatedinordertoimpresstheirpeersandeveryoneelseinsociety.
I have presentedteenagerstobe technologicallyabled, asinmytitle openingsequencehe usesa
phone [4]
–which,nowadaysisveryordinaryforateenagertobe operatingaphone.Ingeneral this
reinforcesthe ideathatteenagersof todaywere broughtupinthe technological eraandtherefore
are able touse technologyconfidently. Furthermore, mymaincharacterisable to handle acamera
whichhe has neverseenbe forwithease, ashe usesthe playbackfunctionandthisillustrates a
digital native.
In mytitle openingsequence,insteadof usingdarklightingtopresentteenagerstobe moody,as
they’re goingthroughastage of adolescence,Ihave optedtouse natural,brightlighting [5]
.It’snota
true representationof teenagers asIhaven’tuseddarklighting.Forexample,inmyopening
sequence, atthe startit is clearthat the sunis shiningradiantlyandmyprotagonistisclearly
enjoyingthe sunashe has decidedtogo fora run.The lightingbecame darkerafterfindingthe
camera to representthe moodof the openingsequence andhow itwill progressintothe film.
I have presentedteenagerstobe adventurousashe jogsthrougha forestinsteadof stickingtothe
roads.Teenagerswill trydiscoveringnew placesasthere are curiousbecause theyare youngandin
general theywanttoexperienceeverythingsotheygofurtherafieldtotryand accomplishseeing
newthingand I have triedtopresentthisadventurousnessandcuriositybymyprotagonisttakingan
alternative route towhata joggerwouldusuallytake.
The camera anglesI have used, portraysteenagerstobe equal asthere are no highangleswhich
showsuperiorityorlowangleswhichshow thatteenagersare inferior.Teenagersare inbetween
adults,sothismeanstheydo notpossesscomplete powerandare superiorinsociety,andtheyare
not children, whoare alwaystoldwhattodo. Therefore teenagerscandoa lot more thanchildren
but notas much as adults.Inorder to getthisbalance of powerthat teenagerspossess,Ihave used
midangleswhichshowthatteenagersare equal toeveryone else.Forexample,inmyopening
sequence whenhe isexitinghisgarden, the framingmeansthathe isat a level angle.

I have presentedteenagerstobe ratherconfidentthroughthe use of bodylanguage, thisconforms
to the stereotype thatteenagersare prone tobeingmore outgoingandself-assured,andIhave
representedthisthroughthe simplefactthathe isgoingon a run as he has the confidence tochange
intosome gymclothesand legitimatelygorunningforthe sake of runningandimprovinghisbody
image.
Furthermore,Ihave presentedteenagerstohave a moderatelycarelessbehaviourbecause
teenagersgenerallyhave acare free attitude andhave a tendencytodowhat theywant. This, inmy
openingsequence,ispresentedwhenhe isrunningdownamuddytrackand challenginghimself to
jumpoverthe large puddlesasit entertainshim.Butalso,curiosityandyouthfulnessbehaviouris
prevalentinmyopeningsequence ashe goeson a little adventureinsteadof goingonpavements.
The fact he isgoingon a run representshisyouthfulnessasthiscreatesthe sense thatmy
protagonistisphysicallyfitandevokesthe ideathathe isyoung.
