2. Narrative
Whilst my film’s focus will not be on narrative, there will be a storyline throughout
that will link all of the concepts and ideas together. It will be suggested that a girl,
the main character, has taken drugs and enters some kind of trance in which she
sees the negative sides of the modeling and fashion industry and the media and
these negative aspects of the industries are revealed to her. The film will end with
her returning to normal with the knew knowledge of what she has realised and
what has been revealed to her.
3. Main Character
A girl.
I don't want there to be anything too specific about her and her character as the
focus isn't really on the character, more the issues raised within the film and how
they may affect her. As she is symbolic of females within the industries I don't
want there to be too much character development, if any, as I want her to be open
to interpretation by the viewer.
5. Film’s Style (continued)
My films style will be very experimental and will have a greater focus on
symbolism and showing things in abstract ways than having a clear linear
narrative. I don't feel that my film idea really fits into any genre due to the fact that
it doesnt follow a clear narrative and therefore doesnt follow many genre
conventions. My film will have a focus on the mise en scene which will be kept to
three main colours: red, black and white. To keep to this colour scheme I will use
black and white filters and colour correcting where neccesary. One of the most
prominent aspects of my film and what will link the shots visually together will be
the use of strobe lighting. I feel that this will really add to the intensity and
atmosphere of the film.
6. Sound
In order to make the audio a similar style to the film I will not be using any dialogue
but instead will be using sound effects layered on top of each other to create a
soundtrack that is calm and distant at times and intense/ busy at others.
The sounds that I will use will be very unclear sounds however they will have
general links to what is shown on screen and will therefore help the flow of the film
without being too literal or obvious.
