2. … Genre Here are some screen shots from my trailer, which I believe represent the genre of my trailer which is social realism.

3. This screen shot is from the beginning of my trailer, where are several still shots of the location. The sign is worn away and rusty, which helps set up the mood of the trailer. These two still are the other “establishing shots” from the beginning of the trailer which also create a tone for the trailer. Altogether, with the black and white filter over them, they set the mood as gloomy and dull.

4. The expression of the main character in the largest screenshot is solemn and serious, which gives the audience an idea of what kind of mood the film is which links to the genre of the film. Again, the main character is seen looking somber in this screenshot. With the black and white filter over the shots, it is easy to establish the genre as one with a storylines with serious themes within.

5. … Narrative “ In media terms, narrative is the coherence/organisation given to a series of facts.” Within my trailer, the footage featured doesn’t necessarily run in order, however the use of inter titles helps establish a sense of narrative.

6. … Audience The main purpose of a teaser trailer is to give the audience an idea of the genre and the storyline, but to keep it brief so that when it comes to the theatrical trailer, it is shown in a little more detail, still keeping the audience in suspense/wanting more. The footage used doesn’t give much away of the storyline, as they are simple, emotive shots. When put with the inter-tiles that read “The story of a boy...who lost his way”, the audience get a slight insight into the films genre, and it’s serious themes, without giving away much of the story line. This drives them to follow the particular film, watching theatrical trailers and eventually seeing the film when put to cinema release.

7. … Audience When looking at the footage used, without the use of inter-titles the audience would be left little or not idea of the storyline. However through the inter titles, the audience are given a tagline that reads “The story of a boy…who lost his way. And how his life became…Broken” which gives them enough of an insight to want to see the film.

8. … Representation The main character of my trailer is a teenage boy of modern day society. I think the costumes used help create an accurate representation of the younger generation of the present day. The main character almost fits the definition of a “CHAV” which is what I was aiming for A working-class youth, especially one associated with aggression, poor education, and a perceived "common" taste in clothing and lifestyle , however during the trailer he isn’t seen taking part in particularly aggressive behavior which see’s his subverting this particular stereotype/representation.
