The document discusses how the media product challenges conventions of real productions. It uses alternative shots that do not show the antagonist's face to create an isolated location. It develops conventions by including clouds in the opening ident similar to other film companies. It also challenges conventions through the use of handheld camerawork during running scenes, providing a more alternative style compared to mainstream films that typically use dollies. At the end, it includes a moment of silence before a jump scare, using a typical thriller convention to effectively finish the product.

Question 1
1. In what way does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
products?
Louis Harris
2. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real products?
Our media product challenges
the forms of real productions
by using alternative shots. In
terms of the antagonist, we
made sure that the identity of
him was never shown so
when we were capturing the
footage Izzy the cameraman
would never film above my
head. Our aim was to create
an out of reach and isolate
location and by filming
various landscape and then
the creepy antagonist it
conforms to the ideologies of
people who live in rural areas.
3. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real products?
Our ident has developed
forms and conventions of real
products because it would be
one that could be associated
with the film industry. We
used clouds because most of
the idents that we researched
all had some form of clouds in
their own ident. So by sticking
with the cloud theme we have
developed ideas of other film
companies.
4. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real products?
Another way we have
challenged the forms and
conventions of real products
is through hand held
camerawork. Hollywood films
are much more inclined to
use dollies when filming. The
group felt that by using a
hand held camera at times
during the product the
audience would be provided
with an alternative film which
would be as good as the
mainstream Hollywood films.
The handheld camerawork
can be seen during the
running scenes.
5. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real products?
Like many thriller films, at the
end of our piece there was a
moment of silence before a
hand comes up from below
the frame and makes the
audience jump. In most
thriller/horror films there is the
element of surprise in order to
get the audience excited, it
scares them when they least
expect it. We used this typical
convention because it is very
effective and it is a brilliant
way to finish our product.
