In which ways does your Media
Product use, develop or challenge
  forms & conventions of Media
            Products?
Before starting any of my tasks i
carried out research to help me
understand the existing common
conventions of the tasks i would
     have been carrying out
      throughout the year.

     These are the common
    conventions i found to be
associated with film trailers and
believe them to be present in
    the majority of the teaser
trailers we see on a day to day
              basis.
These are the common
   conventions i found to be
associated with a film magazine
                cover.
By doing research such as this
       it helped me gain in
    understanding of how to
   construct a film magazine
cover in the most correct way
              possible.
But of course with conventions
it is just as important to
  challenge them as to follow
them so i have challenged them
as you will see in my product.
Again this is the
 research i carried
  out in order to
    develop my
 understanding for
how to construct a
    film poster.
In my media products i have followed and used certain conventions as well as challenging them. For
Example i have used an institution in my film trailer as it is a common feature of all teaser trailers and
therefore gives my product a realistic feel to it.
Within my film trailer i have followed the majority of conventions from including
my actors and actresses names to the release date as well as the credits. By
following certain conventions of the film trailer it helps indicate to the audience
what type of media they are observing.
However, in terms of challenging the
conventions of Media Products within my film
trailer i have done so in several ways.

The first of which i am going to discuss is the
breaking of the 180 degree rule within my film
                    trailer.

I did this to create a certain sense of
disorientation as the two characters are
somewhat chaotic within the trailer and
this indicates comedy and chaos within the
                                                                      trailer.
The use of intertextuality in the form of the note paper effect automatically links the audience to the
genre of comedy through the form of The Inbetweeners. The effect on the images during the film trailer
challenges the conventions because of the continuous use of the effect throughout the trailer. The
Inbetweeners use the effect at the start and then again at the end but i decided to use the effect
throughout as it has a lighter comedic feel to it.
As you can see on the left i have followed
several conventions of a typical film magazine
cover such as the month of the issue price
                  and barcode.
Other conventions such as the banner
including the free poster at the bottom of
the magazine occur every so often on a
magazine cover and not on each and every
                      one.
The articles named within the magazine is
another common feature to help entice the
reader into purchasing the magazine as other
features such as the poster do as well.
The note paper effect behind the main image
gives the whole product of Keith & Terry a
synergy to the trailer, poster and magazine as
well as having the intertextuality to The
                Inbetweeners.

The use of the effect behind the image
challenges the conventions of a film magazine
as they never repeat the same image behind
               the main image.

This works for my product because of the use
of the note paper throughout the production
of Keith & Terry products so the reader will
therefore associate the effect with the film.
Again i have followed certain conventions
such as the main title being the most
  prominent on the poster. Institutions
being at the bottom of the poster along
with the people involved with the film is
    another recognisable feature and
       convention of a film poster.

    Quotes from film magazines and
     critiques are another common
feature i have used in my film
      poster. The release date again
     another common and in some
    ways the most important feature
of the poster as the purpose of
the poster is to advertise the
               release date.
In terms of challenging the
conventions i have included the fact
that you can now book your tickets
to see the film through the form of
Facebook which in itself is a new
               media.

As it is a new form of booking
cinema tickets it is not a convention
of a film poster although it will
         quickly become one.

Another way in which i believe i
have challenged the conventions is
by including the certification as the
film trailer and poster may mislead
the audience into thinking it is a
        lower certification.
