The Bowtie team is working with Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute to design an interface for HERB the robot to perform as an actor in plays. The interface will allow operators to control HERB's movements in real time to improvise performances. The team will create animations to transform HERB into different characters. They will work closely with the director to realize their vision. Some challenges are communicating requirements, building a robust interface, creating enough animations, and ensuring HERB can maintain eye contact during interactions on stage. The timeline shows work on the interface, animations, programming, and user testing leading up to the performance on April 30th.
