- 2. QR CODES • QR codes or quick response codes have been incorporated into classroom activity nation wide.
- 3. HOW COMMON ARE QR CODES? • One of the MAIN disadvantages of QR code use is the lack of familiarity. There are still people in certain parts of the US that have never been exposed to QR Codes. This could cause complaints from parents concerning teaching methods. It also gives students without access or know how excuses to flake on HW assignments.
- 4. TECHNOLOGY IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM • According to a 2015 survey: • 35 percent of elementary- schoolers owned a smartphone • 61 percent of middle-schoolers owned a smartphone • 81 percent of high-school students owned a smartphone.
- 5. QR CODES IN CLASS • QR codes can be read quickly from smart phones. And luckily for us over the past decade smartphone usage has increased across all grade levels. • One of the biggest distractions in the classroom in the modern day classroom is the smart phone. Pro Con
- 6. QR CODES IN CLASS • Teachers could use QR codes to give students easier access to home work assignments. The flip classroom technique will be made easier through the use of QR codes. Pro Con • All students do not have access to a smart phone.
- 7. VERSATILITY The main advantage of QR codes is their versatility. QR codes can be used in virtually any arena and in any subject. From businesses to plants they make information easily accessible.
- 8. CLASSROOM INVENTORY • QR codes could make the life of teachers a lot easier especially when it comes to classroom inventory. This could be helpful to a science teacher or a librarian for example.
- 9. ATTENDENCE? PRO • At some point we have all experienced the hectic front office in grade school. If QR codes were used to replace the attendance verification process adopted my most schools. Quicker and more accurate attendance records can be taken in class. CON • Forces switch from tracking absences/makeups to tracking attendance.
