 A measurement of quality of an organization’s policies, products,
programs, strategies, etc. and their comparison with standard
measurements or similar measurements of its peers.
 Benchmarking is a systematic process used for identifying and
implementing best or better practices.
 Best practices are “those practices that have been shown to
produce superior results; selected by a systematic process; and
judged as exemplary, good or successfully demonstrated ” .
 A best practice is a technique or methodology that,
through experience and research, has been proven to
reliably lead to a desired result.
 Best practice is a set of guidelines, ethics or ideas that
represent the most efficient or prudent course of action.
 Best practice serve as a general outline for a variety of
situations.
 By reducing waste, product is designed based on green chemistry.
 Quality of product is already augmented & every production step is
checked.
 Less time of production i.e. just in time.
 They have best management system which provides various types of
information that user should know.
 Tracking and reporting of performance to give the users best
service.
 Constantly working on systems that reduce huge cost and
time of the user and the management system.
 Reduces complexity.
 Low cost.
 Good quality of food.
 Available at nearby places.
 Great efficiency & team work.
 Free home delivery & cash on delivery.
 Online services.
 Great variety & choice of food and offers /combo offers.
 Build its strategy keeping in mind customers views & suggestions.
 The total weight of all the ants on the earth is about the same as the weight of
all humans on earth, this teaches us that size and colour doesn’t matter, the
hard work and qualities matter.
 An ant’s mouth is so tiny but is does not mean it is less satisfied than an
elephant-concludes us to always be satisfied.
 Courage isn’t always a lion’s roar. It’s also the silence of ant working patiently
and never giving up , so never do work to show off and do it patiently and
never give up.
 All good work is done the way ants do things, little by little, this shows great
discipline and management of work among team.
 The distance between dreams and reality is called discipline & selflessness.
 Ants always work in harmony, don’t even give a thought on who is doing more,
thus showing teamwork.
 Whenever two ants cross ways , they always connect to each other before
parting ways . It shows a great “togetherness” .
 Never give up and try till you succeed: Our Indian army fights till
the last breath.
 Channelizing energy in the right direction: Indian army always
focuses on hard work and on result.
 They die, skip their sleep for their country.
 They keep all emotions and feelings aside and focus on the job at
hand.
 They don’t work for fame, medals, certificates etc. they work for
the country, till they are alive.
 The best way to explain discipline and teamwork is the Indian
army.
•Channelizing energy in the right direction: While working as a team,
there should be perfect division of labor. Along with that, work should be
assigned according to the expertise of the students. This would help in
getting the best possible output.
• Discipline: Students must observe discipline and do their work
sincerely. Whether it is looking for a book in library, working in a
laboratory or working on a project, a student must behave in a
responsible manner.
Some of the best practices that should be adapted in
colleges are-
•Team work: Staff and students must work as a team,
help each other. This would help in improving the
efficiency of the institution and the students will be
able to work in teams in their workplace in future.
1) TIME MANAGEMENT: College should have a realistic academic
calendar made at the start of the year so that each and every activity
mentioned in the calendar takes place smoothly. There should be events
related to studies as well some fun events so that students enjoy coming
to college. There should not be an overdose of study hours because at the
end it is going to harm the student's health. That's why proper time
management is a very importance practice for our college.
2) PROPER FACULTY: Well many times there is a lack of faculty for some
subjects and so a teacher with no proper experience and teaching skills is
appointed permanently which is a huge loss for the student's academics.
Thus , college should do a proper background check on the teacher
before appointing them. Incase of no teacher available, a substitute staff
should be at least given in charge.
Further more, a feedback should be taken from the students and proper
actions should be taken after going through all the feedback.
3)PRACTICAL STUDIES: Only theoretical studies are not enough for the
students as they need to be taught the practical use of their syllabus.
That's why there should be proper working labs where their theoretical
knowledge is tested. College should organize events, sessions etc where
students learn things which their books cannot teach them.
Just organising these events is not enough as all the students must be
made aware of these events and should be encouraged to participate in
them.
4)PUNCTUALITY: Compared to schools, colleges are comparatively very lax.
Students come to college 2-3 hours late, bunk lectures etc. Not just
students, but even teachers come last to college and in the end they rush
with their portions and teach in a very haphazard manner. Hence coming to
colleges on time should be made compulsory for teachers as well as
students. This will save the students from joining extra classes outside
college only because they are not taught properly in college.
5)ONLINE INFORMATION: Now in this century, almost everyone owns a
computer or a smart phone. It is not a luxury but a necessity. Thus college
should inform all the students before hand about the lectures, syllabus,
registration, fee payment, branch transfer, placement and many such
notices through an online site. Colleges do have a online site but
information is put up very late by the college . It is said that we are just
one click away from anything, so why not make a good use of this
discovery and make most of the procedures online. This will not only
reduce man work but it will also make everything very systematic. Thus
teachers could mail
students their notes and important notices and so everyone would be well
informed.
Doing projects, making robots teaches you many technical things. But these
challenges gives you a platform to face different social problems and deal
them in the best possible way.
This project has taught us team work. It has made us strong enough to face
problems and question people about their wrong practices.
We have learned how to make our college a better place from the good
practices we see in different multinational companies.
