In this style, the manager makes decisions without
consulting the team members. The manager
exercises complete control and authority, and team
members are expected to follow instructions
without a question.
This style emphasizes participation and
collaboration. The manager involves team
members in decision-making processes,
encourages open communication, and values their
input. The team is given a voice in determining
goals, tasks, and problem-solving.

A coaching manager focuses on developing

high degree of autonomy and are responsible for
making decisions and managing their own tasks.
The manager provides minimal guidance and
intervention, trusting team members to

Leadership and Guidance:
The QA Lead provides guidance and
direction to the QA team. They establish
best practices, define testing strategies,
and ensure adherence to quality
standards throughout the project
lifecycle.
Quality Advocate: The QA Lead acts as a
strong advocate for quality and driving a
culture of continuous improvement
within the team.
Risk Mitigation: The QA Lead identifies
and mitigates potential risks related to
quality and testing, helping to minimize
the impact of defects on the software
and overall project.
The QA Lead is a senior member
of the QA team who oversees the
planning, coordination, and
execution of testing activities.
They serve as a bridge between
the QA team, development team,
project management, and other
stakeholders, ensuring effective
communication and collaboration.

Do NOT review every test case, defect report etc. with the expectation that if there are any
problems, you need to find and fix them for QA. Each individual is responsible for their work
product and its quality. A team lead’s review is customary as an additional checkpoint and
most often high level in nature.
The team member should expect little to no hand-holding on a daily basis. No team lead should
tell what to do, every single day.
Be a team player and share responsibilities
Consider team’s opinion on timelines, schedules, effort estimations and planning
Communicate ahead in case of any concerns, red-flags or issues.
