A survey found that 100% of respondents sometimes watch music videos when listening to songs, indicating the need for an abstract/entertaining video. The video creators used a black and white theme with a range of lighting, and high key lighting received the most positive feedback as the brightness enriched the footage and matched the music's tone. Most respondents also felt music videos are important for promoting an album's success, and the creators believe researching their audience helped make their video a success.
1. When asking the question ‘How often do
you watch the music video when
listening to the songs’ 100% answered
‘sometimes’. This tells me, that my aim is
to create an abstract/performance video
that will keep my audience entertained.
Due to our abstract intentions for our
music video we applied a range of lighting
with our black and white theme. On our
questionnaire High Key Lighting was the
most successful element throughout . I
feel that is because the imagery that we
used caught the audience’s attention and
a higher lighting enhanced this,
additionally fitted the genre of the music
also the tone of the song.
60% answered that it is important for the
music video to be a vital success of the
album. I feel with all the positive feedback
we have received, we have achieved a
successful music video. I feel that our
research into our audience helped the
success of the video.
Finally when asking our audience what
lighting is most effective ‘High Key Lighting’
was most successful. I feel that this enriched
our footage and the brightness and contrast
fitted well with the music and lyrics to give it
a more chic finish, but still remaining
abstract.
