Through constructing their media product, the students learned several important technologies. They learned how to properly use their school-provided camera, such as controlling shutter speed, aperture, and focus. They also learned filming techniques like match on action and shot reverse shot. Using a tripod helped prevent shakiness and allowed different shot types. LED lights were crucial for maintaining consistent lighting throughout filming. Editing software like Pinnacle provided effects like earthquakes and transitions that improved their project. YouTube and Google also exposed them to influences and information that helped them meet high standards.

What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?

2. CAMERA
 This was a camera supplied to us by the school, without any prior
knowledge of camera we had struggled to use it to its full capabilities. The
preliminary is proof of us not knowing how to place the shots into focus,
however after several days of filming we had learnt how to use the camera
perfectly e.g. control speed, shutter speed, focus and aperture.
 We had also learnt techniques with the camera e.g. match on action, 180
degree rule and shot reverse shot.

3. TRIPOD
 The tripod was something we learnt
to use after the preliminary; we
learnt that it is detrimental to the
filming of any media product as it
not only prevents any ‘Shakiness’
but it allows you to use a multitude
of other techniques e.g. Tilt shot,
Birds eye view angle shot etc.

4. LED lights
 After the first attempt of
filming our media product,
we learnt the value of the
LED light. Our media
product had issues with
light as it was hard to film
with the time of day
constantly changing, as a
result we had extremely
dark shot. However, after
having been given the LED
lights we where capable of
keeping the same light
throughout the entirety of
the shooting.

5. PINNACLE STUDIOS
 Due to some issues with
editing at school the group
had decide to do so at
home, after careful
research we found that
Pinnacle was the best
editing software on the XP.
With it we learnt all kinds
of techniques e.g.
earthquake to make a scene
shaky for effect, anti blur
which helped cleaned up
any scenes with lack of
focus and transition options
which let us use more than
just quick cuts.

6. Youtube & Google
 Youtube was the source of a lot of
our ideas, with it we had found
several videos which had heavily
influenced our choices e.g. lock
stock and two smoking barrels, the
shining etc.
 Similarly, google had managed to
successfully link the group to
movies, previous media work and
much more information which had
led to us producing our media
product to its high standards.
