1. •How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
2. My media product represents to a certain social
group that is interested in indie genre of music. I
have made magazine for people that do not
follow any fashions and their friends; they want
to stay with their unique style. My magazine is
not focused on a particular sex it is both for
males and females and the age range is
between 16-27. To successfully create my
magazine I have used a lot different ways to
represent the social group of indie throughout
my magazine.
3. As my magazine is a music magazine based around the genre of indie
music.
I have used Q and NME to help me as they are based on the same
music genre.
4. My product has a colour theme that will appeal to both sex
and isn’t more based on one sex. I have done this as it will
help sell more as there is a wider target audience and not
limiting it. The image I have used for my front cover I carefully
considered the clothing for the person as I want it to be up to
date with today’s fashion as it will appeal more to the
audience as it is up to date. Also what I have included is both
female and male indie artist that will appeal to both sex
again. The layout to my magazine is simple and neutral with
the colours and layout. It is not full of information and pictures
which will again appeal to both sex and the age range. The
age range of the indie artist is not limited to a young age it is
spreads to an older age as well to appeal to the full age
range of my target audience.
As my target audience is a young age I have not put in
serious text I have kept it in a laid back format to keep it
relevantly easy to read for the audience and easy to relate
too. It is also in a quirky way which with today’s trend should
hopefully appeal to the audience.
All of the artist that I have featured about are all famous indie
music singers or bands. I wanted to have an indie theme to
my magazine so in my questionnaire I asked what colour do
you associate with indie music, through the results it came
through that burgundy was a popular colour along with grey. I
wanted to include black as well as it can be a contrast with
the colours, this colour theme worked really well as I was
making my product as the complimented each other another
thing is that these colours I would say are quite indie and will
therefore relate to the social group I am aiming at.
5. I have also continued the appeal
to the audience in my contents
page as I have again included
direct address through the
images that I have chosen for the
page. I have included a picture of
a festival of a well knows band
snow patrol so this will indicate
to the audience that it is made
for people that enjoy festivals,
gigs and music mostly. Through
out the contents page I have
tried to make it easy for the
readers to understand as I know
they would not consider buying
the magazine if It is complicated
to understand. So I have page
numbered each head line and
pictures to make it as easy as
possible.
6. I have chosen a band to interview for my double page spread of an indie genre. I decided to
chosen images of the band singing live and they are pointing and sort of posing for the
audience and camera so it shows a quirky and lively side of the band. I also did a picture of
the band not singing and they have kept their beers in their hand so it shows they are laid
back and are up for having a good time and a sense of humour. With including these
pictures and the vibe I hope it will attract the audience. I have included a picture that
includes direct address so it will attract the audience. When It comes to the
interview I have used a
humours and quirky style
and informal which
hopefully will keep the
article fun and exciting. I
have included a serious
side but kept the humour
throughout it. This will
also sow the humour and
fun side of the band and
what their about. I have
included drop quotes to
make it more interesting
and not a page full of
text.
