From constructing their music magazine, the student has learned about various technologies including Pages, Photoshop, websites, and an SLR camera. With Pages, they learned layout techniques like adding borders and arranging shapes. With Photoshop, they learned how to edit photos by adjusting effects, cropping, and removing blemishes. They also learned how to take high quality photos with an SLR camera by understanding aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and good camera angles. Creating the magazine helped the student gain understanding and skills across multiple technologies.

2. Pages
‘Pages’ is a program on the mac that I have used to
make my music magazine. Whilst creating my music
magazine, I have learnt how to use this technology
to the best of my ability.
I have learnt a variety of techniques from using
pages, firstly I have learnt how to put borders on my
text and pictures. I have also learnt how to arrange
different shapes around text and images to create a
layout of my magazine. I also know how to
download fonts off of the internet and use them in
my ‘Pages’ document to make my documents look
more appealing. These techniques have enabled me
to have more of an understanding of ‘Pages’ on the
mac.

3. Photoshop
This is a program installed on the mac. It is used on the mac to
edit images, I used this to edit the images on my music
magazine.
With this program I edited al of the photos used on my music
magazine. With photoshop I have learnt how to increase
effects on the photos like contrast, brightness, colour etc. I also
learnt how to crop images to focus only on the important
parts of the picture. For the pictures on my magazine I needed
to get rid of blemishes on the photo and things like spots
which I now know how to do. I also used special effects like
turning a photo into black and white and negative etc. Using
these effects have helped me to understand ‘photoshop’ more.

From this project, I had to able to use a variety of different
medias to show in my coursework, this is what led me to
understanding different website technologies.

Before I could start with photoshop, I had to be able to
use a SLR camera to take all of my photos in high
quality for my magazine.
I now know how to use an SLR camera well and I know
how to use all of the settings on the camera. For
example I know how to change the aperture, focus,
shutter speed, ISO etc. I also know what angles look
good when taking photos and how to take a photo to
show off an effect. Learning how to use this camera has
helped me to improve my picture quality which were
used in my music magazine.
