In this presentation I praise the merits of doing a placement.
It's very easy to assume what people want, but until you ask them, you won't provide a great User Experience. This is a quick visual to show what our team has tried to do. Staff and Students were interviewed either in person or through writing feedback.

SmartIQ Campus Connect is a comprehensive cloud based online platform suite for training & education industry and students, pioneered by NividTech Info Solutions. The application aims to simplify the staggering effort of the trainers from colleges and institutes to improve the performance of students appearing for Competitive exams like KCET, COMED-K, AIEEE, AIIMS, AIPMT, JEE & NEET
Feedback to students on their work and attainment is at the centre of successful learning in higher education. However many top rated universities find it hard to match high levels of student satisfaction with teaching and learning in general with levels of satisfaction in assessment and feedback. There are many factors which impact the quality of the feedback, and at UEA we are keen that the opportunities to enrich through digitisation are not constrained to the replication of previously paper based practices. For this reason we have initiated a project to harness all of Blackboardäó»s interactive tools to raise the quality of feedback. The overall aim of the project is to embed assessment and feedback in teaching and learning, so that feedback becomes a dialogic process and not a product in itself. This presentation is a report on our progress so far and looks at a range of interventions and their results, as we scale up to campus wide integration of Blackboard assessment and feedback tools. The evidence of impact comes from the academic community and students. We welcome interaction from fellow delegates during the presentation, as we discuss how Blackboard supports us to move forward with feedback.
This is the presentation I gave to the executives on what I accomplished during my summer as an intern with InfoPrint Solutions Company. Though there were so many small pieces I worked on, my focus for the presentation was some of the larger components of my internship.

Generation Y, the demographic born between 1980 and 2000, has not only grown up in a digital world. They are also enthusiastic online gamers, driving the growth of an industry that Gartner reckons will be worth $112 billion globally by 2015. These consumers are rapidly becoming employees as well—by 2015, they’ll form the majority of the US working population. And they like to be communicated with, both when shopping and at work, via the game-like mechanisms they plainly love (http://www.accenture.com/us-en/outlook/Pages/outlook-journal-2013-why-gamification-is-serious-business.aspx).
This is an extended version of my presentation about Game Design & Gamification, where I made it during "Design of Serious Games" Class @Tallinn University on behalf of my team mates.

Elesig 2013 webinar on Evolving Digital literacies: inductions to employment...Ellen Lessner
This webinar focused on how Abingdon and Witney College has used research funding to embed a range of digital literacy skills in induction and in teaching. It focuses on what we learned from our JISC Students4WebEs project where we taught students how to set up and run a webinar. Employers participated in student run webinars on employment skills that they were looking for. The presentation highlighted some of the issues of engaging students in research in a further education setting as well as identifying students as change agents. Elesig stands for 'Evaluation of Learners; Experiences of e-Learning Special Interest Group'.
Chegg is publishing a brand new data report detailing the growing skills gap and a culture of complacency – educators, employers and students acknowledge the gap exists, but they each believe other parties are responsible. The report comes from a new study of university educators, college students, and hiring managers and brings a new, important perspective to Chegg’s findings from last year’s “Bridge That Gap” study.
Using Social Media to Assist Students with Career Planning and Connect Studen...Jennifer B
Attendees will receive an overview of social media outlets as used by high school personnel (to assist students in career and college exploration) and Higher Ed personnel (to reach perspective students). Strategic online-based research (by counseling staff and students) can lead to a more realistic under-standing of prospective industries and universities and increase enrollment, retention, and scholar-ships. Learn how to harness the power of social networking, in an effective and business-like manner, to increase student success and accountability while making your job easier and reaping the benefits!
Objectives: (1) Discuss various social media outlets (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), (2) Overview of how universi-ties are leveraging current social media outlets, (3) Overview of social media use by career/industry networks, (4) Learn how to evaluate different media outlets as to their benefit to YOUR students and YOUR workload (a.k.a.—Connecting students with university personnel and industry professionals so you can do the REST of your job!), (5) Discuss strategic social media use for college and career exploration (getting beyond the face of university marketing; understanding what the professions are all about, from the professionals themselves), (6) Discover how early and student-initiated career and college investigation creates a sense of ownership and responsibility within students as to their post-graduation plans, (7) Explore how early social media connectivity with higher ed community leads to college admissions, satisfaction, reten-tion, and success, and (8) Discuss social media etiquette and legal issues for guidance personnel and students.
Chegg talked to educators, employers and current college students to examine why a current skills gap exists. The report reveals an important perspective to the ongoing skills gap and extends the narrative on Chegg’s findings from last year’s “Bridge That Gap” study (www.chegg.com/pulse).
The following presentation was shared at the ASU/GSV Education Innovation Summit on April 22nd, 2014. Presented by Chegg CEO Dan Rosensweig.

Student success models ranging from student projects, job shadowing and mentoring to summer employment opportunities will be shared.
Work Ready Skills and Planning Your Career is a new subject taught online to 110 second year undergraduate students across four faculties and five campuses. The subject content was published in the LMS, with additional technologies being employed to further engage students, such as building a webfolio in PebblePad and the use of Blackboard Collaborate to hold fortnightly webinars. Students were encouraged to approach the subject as a self-paced one, with assessment tasks and webinars scheduled in such a way as to provide structure to enable completion of the learning activities on time. In this presentation, we will describe the design of the subject and reflect on the effectiveness of the teaching and learning activities and technologies used. We will also discuss the preliminary results of a pilot study measuring the Career Decision Self-Efficacy (CDSE) of students at the start and end of semester. Career Decision Self-Efficacy has been used in previous studies as a measure of the effectiveness of career development interventions.

Engineering Success in Research-led TeachingGary Wood
This presentation illustrates the power of research-led learning experiences in encouraging students to engage more deeply with their subject discipline, by presenting a module in which students research and develop assistive technologies for older people. Such projects have value for all students, because they demand and develop their capabilities in problem enquiry and response; creativity and innovation; calculated risk-taking; decision making that leads to taking action; and working collaboratively. In short, research-led teaching develops students' enterprise capabilities. That is, it enables them to spot opportunities and respond to them by having ideas and making those ideas happen. We will show that this approach inspires students to succeed, whilst at the same time equipping them with skills that complement their subject knowledge and make them highly effective students and graduates, prepared to face the challenges of progressing through their degree programme and transitioning into the world of work.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

17. The most revolutionary change was that students sought an extension of the
work experience element of courses. It would seem that work experience as an
integral part of an undergraduate course offers opportunity for advancing
skills and knowledge (Holmes & Miller, 2000). The students in this survey
emphasised the value of practical work experience and knowledge of the work
place that they had gained on placements. Most of the negative perceptions
related to organisational problems and the nature of the work either being too
