Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Therapy Group
You may be wondering what exactly is Therapy Group?
Therapy Group is a session where a group of people,
from the ages of 18 and above, come together to
discuss problems and challenges they are facing in
their lives. It can range from work-related stress, to
coming out of re-hab, people will be there to listen, no
matter how big or small your problem.
In Therapy Group you can meet people from all ages,
and form
friendships
with those
around you.
As the well
known say-
ing goes “A
problem shared is a problem halved”. Therapy Group
will help you fix your problems as you will be able to
talk to others in the similar situations and listen to
different strategies on how to handle things. There
will also be visits and talks from professionals on how
to handle stressful situations.
Therapy Group is held at the Community Center
(second floor) on various times throughout the week
(check timetable for details). You can turn up unan-
nounced or you can sign up online, by giving us a call,
or writing your name on the list which hangs on the
Community noticeboard.
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art. It combines self
-defense, combat and exercise into the one activity.
There are different classes, some according to age
group and others according to any previous experi-
ence, although none is needed to join the program.
The age group classes are classified with an age
difference of 5 years (e.g 5-10, 10-15). If you have
lots of previous experience you will be placed in an
open-age class, which will be classified as experi-
enced or expert.
You may be thinking, what do I need to bring? You
only need to wear comfortable, work-out type clothes
as all the equipment will be provided by the teacher.
To join the classes
you have to sign up
online. The cost of
lessons is $100 per
ten lessons in order
to pay for equipment
and the coaches.
Each session goes for an hour and a half. All the clas-
ses will be held at the bottom level of the Community
Center.
Each class has different times so check the timetable
on the next page for the times.
Bingo, Karaoke & Trivia Night
This night is full of fun and friends! You can meet new
people, catch up with old friends, or ride solo.
For the night you can grab some friends and make a team,
or you will be put with some soon-to-
be friends! You stay in the same team
the entire night and work together to
score the most points by singing your
heart out for karaoke and spouting
random facts for trivia.
You might be thinking, can I do this? You can be young or
old to do this! There are two different competitions, depend-
ing on your age. If you are 15-29, you are in one competi-
tion, and if you are 30+ you are in a separate comp. This
way you can participate at any age!
For the younger age group, the competition is held at on a
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 5-7pm. For the
30+ competition it is held on the same days at 7:30-
9:30pm. Both competitions will be held at the Community
Center, on the second floor.
For entry there is a $5 and then you get a pass to attend for
the next ten weeks. The $5 will go towards any equipment
needed and the prizes awarded for the winning teams. To
sign up you can call, sign up online or write your name on
the list hanging on the noticeboard in the Community Cen-
ter.
