1. Loco Parentis: We are not teachers alone but parents.
A true teacher is one who helps learners think of themselves.
The teachers always guide the learners throughout, gently, and firmly. When parents
cannot be there, mam and sir take care of them, teaches them humanity, and acts as
role model to look up to.
As teachers of the 21st Century, we rule not only as stark motivators and
facilitators of learners but as teachers who holistically frame learners to hone their
edges; globally competitive and proficient citizens of this realm. Indeed, a very tough
task, huh? But yes! We make teaching not our job, nor our passion alone but our soul.
It’s the very souls and life that enable us to grip beneath the cliff of obstacles just to
lift our learners high.
What really might be the cause of this tricky and thorny way towards triumph? Are we
capable of making solutions to these? Being in this system is not all sloppy and backbreaking.
Problems arise here and there. It might be in our bivouac or might be in our own sitting. We
work around the clock, yet this is not enough. There isn’t a teacher who has not bewailed over
insolent learners. Because most teachers are pre-occupied not only with our jobs as mentors,
but also piled paper woks-all in ASAP. Our bosses will tell us, “Do this urgently” “accomplish
this now!”, we need to pass these reports. Truly, the countless works makes a teacher
motivated inorder to grasp the target setting. Some teachers also acted as bookkeepers,
disbursing officers, purchasers, librarians, guidance counselors and many other related
additional jobs that adds burden to focus on teaching.
Indeed teacher throughout the orb, neophyte or veteran exemplifies commitment
towards success. Besides the many mentioned KRAs of the teachers but still find ways to show
laborious and arduous effort just to make teaching and learning authentic matter for our
learners, all and sundry. We truly are a family who are bound in one goal which is to serve in
observance of the mission and vision of the Department of Education. A tough job to become
a better servant in this institution when our feet are dragged to swing off quandaries in the
system and in our private lives, the ones that pull us back from our enthusiasm and glitz to
give our very all to education. But amidst this topsy-turvy trail, we envision to keep on moving
forward. In our hearts is the hunger to serve our nation as educators. I must call teaching a
noble vocation since not everyone has the heart to keep going nevertheless the bridge to feat
is quite destructive.
A great teacher never complains, we give shrugs but still obey. Interventions to make,
remediations to tackle, exhausting home visitations, and acting as parent surrogates to these
learners are all absorbed without whines and protests by these noble mentors. These are all
ample of the oaths we face in our day-to-day encounters at school, yet able to meet with a
smile. We come to school early and go home late, unable to attend our jobs in our zones. Still,
we bear smiles on our tired faces, as if saying; all’s well that ends well, today. An immense
salute to all teachers who are dedicated and passionate in their teaching profession.
