E-call (Emergency Call) system enables the quick handling of emergency.
As soon as in-vehicle sensors detects a car accident, E-call automatically
or manually by a button sends details including the exact position of
the vehicle to the emergency center and makes a telephone link for the
operator to judge the situation.
B-call (Breakdown Call) system connects users to the pre-selected
service center which has information of the vehicle already, when the
car breaks down.
Since 2003, with 1.7 million cars equipped, PSA Peugeot Citroën is
Europe’s most advanced carmaker in terms of emergency call.
In 2015, PSA Peugeot Citroën brings « car to infrastructure »
capabilities to its e-call service, in collaboration with its partner IMA.
Selected highway control centers in France are now automatically
warned of incidents on their roads thanks to Peugeot, Citroën
and DS cars.
This lets other drivers know of potential hazards ahead, through
dynamic roadside signs.

Automatic braking on detection of hidden pedestrian
Using the ITS G5 system, the car is informed by the vehicle ahead that
there is a pedestrian on the road.
The brakes are automatically applied in response.
Automatic braking can therefore be anticipated, safe for pedestrians
and for drivers.
The C-ITS communications, which offer a new source of information,
use data transmitted by other vehicles to enhance awareness of the
vehicle’s surrounding environment.
• Improve road user safety by anticipating certain critical situations to
reduce the number of accidents.
• Pave the way for the driver assistance systems of the future, such as
autonomous driving.

SCOOP@F project demonstrated on the Bordeaux ring road by
PSA Peugeot Citroën and the Interdepartmental Directorate
Aquitaine Roads.
This project illustrates how carmakers and road infrastructure
operators are cooperating to develop C-ITS.
Three use cases:
Pedestrian on the side of the road, roadworks and broken down
vehicle.
The following communication methods are being illustrated:
• Car-to-Infrastructure.
• Infrastructure-to-Traffic Management Centre.
• Infrastructure-to-Car.
The car presented is one of the 1,110 PSA Peugeot Citroën
vehicles that will be fitted with the SCOOP@F system from 2016
as part of a large-scale experiment to be conducted in five
regions across France on 2,500km of roads equipped with the
requisite technology.

• At the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Group
helped revise the ECE79 (steering) and ECE48 (lighting) regulations.
• In France, PSA Peugeot Citroën is taking part in working groups
on the autonomous vehicle:
- French automotive industry platform PFA.
- The French government’s Nouvelle France Industrielle reindustrialisation plan.
• PSA Peugeot Citroën is the first French carmaker to test
autonomous driving on the open road.
• Fewer accidents caused by human error.
• Reduced risk of driver fatigue in monotonous driving situations.
• A more enjoyable, comfortable driving experience.
Autonomous driving in traffic jams
and in the fast lane without driver involvement
The vehicle self-drives on suitable roads — separeted lane road —
in all traffic conditions (traffic jams, slow moving traffic, etc.).
Combining data using prototype sensors (laser scanner, multifunction
cameras, radars, GPS) means:
• Speed is adapted to the surrounding environment, taking into account
the presence of other vehicles, road infrastructure and the applicable
speed limit.
• Lane tracking and high-precision GPS route tracking guide the vehicle’s
steering.
• The vehicle can change lanes automatically including for overtaking,
pulling back in, etc.
Developing smartphone-based applications that harness:
• The phone’s sensors and resources (camera, maps, etc.).
• Communication between the smartphone and the vehicle to process
vehicle data and control vehicle features (Car Easy Apps solution).
• C-ITS information (traffic lights, traffic).
Case study: CO2 cruise assist
• This function alerts the driver when to take his/her foot off the
pedal to anticipate roundabouts, bends, reduced speed limits and
other factors, and thereby avoid unnecessary braking.
• Fuel consumption is improved and carbon emissions are reduced
by up to 3g CO2/km.
Facilitating broad access to these driver assistance
systems via smartphone, to improve car safety
and optimize fuel consumption

When the speed control function is activated, the system drawson
available information to automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed
and improve fuel efficiency.
The application uses information provided by:
• Infrastructure managers — traffic information.
• A navigation system that shows the characteristics of the road ahead
for 1 km (upcoming bends, slopes and speed limit changes, etc.).
• Traffic lights fitted with a communicating ITS system.
• A frontal vehicle detection sensor (radar and/or camera).
Information can be obtained via the customer’s smartphone (with
Car Easy Apps, for example), via C-ITS, or via onboard navigation
and sensor systems.
• Reduced carbon emissions and significant 5% to 10% decrease
in fuel consumption.
• Enhanced driving comfort with a naturally smoother and less
stressful drive.

PSA Peugeot Citroën at ITS Bordeaux 2015

  • 2. E-call (Emergency Call) system enables the quick handling of emergency. As soon as in-vehicle sensors detects a car accident, E-call automatically or manually by a button sends details including the exact position of the vehicle to the emergency center and makes a telephone link for the operator to judge the situation. B-call (Breakdown Call) system connects users to the pre-selected service center which has information of the vehicle already, when the car breaks down. Since 2003, with 1.7 million cars equipped, PSA Peugeot Citroën is Europe’s most advanced carmaker in terms of emergency call. In 2015, PSA Peugeot Citroën brings « car to infrastructure » capabilities to its e-call service, in collaboration with its partner IMA. Selected highway control centers in France are now automatically warned of incidents on their roads thanks to Peugeot, Citroën and DS cars.   • 3. Automatic braking on detection of hidden pedestrian Using the ITS G5 system, the car is informed by the vehicle ahead that there is a pedestrian on the road. The brakes are automatically applied in response. Automatic braking can therefore be anticipated, safe for pedestrians and for drivers. The C-ITS communications, which offer a new source of information, use data transmitted by other vehicles to enhance awareness of the vehicle’s surrounding environment. • Improve road user safety by anticipating certain critical situations to reduce the number of accidents. • Pave the way for the driver assistance systems of the future, such as autonomous driving.   • 4. SCOOP@F project demonstrated on the Bordeaux ring road by PSA Peugeot Citroën and the Interdepartmental Directorate Aquitaine Roads. This project illustrates how carmakers and road infrastructure operators are cooperating to develop C-ITS. Three use cases: Pedestrian on the side of the road, roadworks and broken down vehicle. The following communication methods are being illustrated: • Car-to-Infrastructure. • Infrastructure-to-Traffic Management Centre. • Infrastructure-to-Car. The car presented is one of the 1,110 PSA Peugeot Citroën vehicles that will be fitted with the SCOOP@F system from 2016 as part of a large-scale experiment to be conducted in five regions across France on 2,500km of roads equipped with the requisite technology. ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) Infographie–©AgenceLOVEIT
  • 5. • Identifying and sharing responsibilities. • Autonomous driving and insurance. • Privacy. • Updating the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. • Amendments planned for 2017. • Transposition into national road laws. • At the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Group helped revise the ECE79 (steering) and ECE48 (lighting) regulations. • In France, PSA Peugeot Citroën is taking part in working groups on the autonomous vehicle: - French automotive industry platform PFA. - The French government’s Nouvelle France Industrielle reindustrialisation plan. • PSA Peugeot Citroën is the first French carmaker to test autonomous driving on the open road.
  • 6. • Fewer accidents caused by human error. • Reduced risk of driver fatigue in monotonous driving situations. • A more enjoyable, comfortable driving experience. Autonomous driving in traffic jams and in the fast lane without driver involvement The vehicle self-drives on suitable roads — separeted lane road — in all traffic conditions (traffic jams, slow moving traffic, etc.). Combining data using prototype sensors (laser scanner, multifunction cameras, radars, GPS) means: • Speed is adapted to the surrounding environment, taking into account the presence of other vehicles, road infrastructure and the applicable speed limit. • Lane tracking and high-precision GPS route tracking guide the vehicle’s steering. • The vehicle can change lanes automatically including for overtaking, pulling back in, etc.

Developing smartphone-based applications that harness: • The phone’s sensors and resources (camera, maps, etc.). • Communication between the smartphone and the vehicle to process vehicle data and control vehicle features (Car Easy Apps solution). • C-ITS information (traffic lights, traffic). Case study: CO2 cruise assist • This function alerts the driver when to take his/her foot off the pedal to anticipate roundabouts, bends, reduced speed limits and other factors, and thereby avoid unnecessary braking. • Fuel consumption is improved and carbon emissions are reduced by up to 3g CO2/km.   • 8. When the speed control function is activated, the system drawson available information to automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed and improve fuel efficiency. The application uses information provided by: • Infrastructure managers — traffic information. • A navigation system that shows the characteristics of the road ahead for 1 km (upcoming bends, slopes and speed limit changes, etc.). • Traffic lights fitted with a communicating ITS system. • A frontal vehicle detection sensor (radar and/or camera). Information can be obtained via the customer’s smartphone (with Car Easy Apps, for example), via C-ITS, or via onboard navigation and sensor systems. • Reduced carbon emissions and significant 5% to 10% decrease in fuel consumption. • Enhanced driving comfort with a naturally smoother and less stressful drive.
