SKF is a leading manufacturer of lubrication products and systems for rotating machinery. Their catalog provides an overview of their extensive product offerings, which include lubricants, manual lubrication tools, automatic lubricators, centralized lubrication systems, and accessories. SKF has over 100 years of experience in bearings and lubrication science. They offer a wide range of greases and oils that are carefully formulated for different applications based on extensive research.
Lubrication is vital for bearings and affects their life and the life of machinery. Proper lubrication reduces friction, wear, and improves the life of bearings. Bearings must be lubricated at the appropriate interval with the correct amount and type of grease. Incompatible grease, loss of lubricant from overheating or incorrect greasing, and excess lubrication can lead to bearing failure and equipment downtime. Following proper procedures for re-greasing, including cleaning, using the correct grease, adding the recommended amount, and cleaning up afterwards, can help ensure healthy bearings and equipment.
Electric motor bearing lubrication by aungAung Htun
This document provides guidance on proper electric motor bearing lubrication. It discusses choosing the right grease based on viscosity, consistency, oxidation resistance and other properties. It also outlines the correct procedure for greasing motor bearings, including greasing at the right time based on motor size and operating temperature, using the right amount of grease calculated based on bearing dimensions, and adding the grease in the right way by cleaning, pumping grease through the fitting, and allowing excess to expel before replacing the drain plug. Proper lubrication is essential to reduce friction and wear, protect against corrosion, and prevent contaminant entry.
This document outlines 5 critical tips for car tyre maintenance:
1. Check tyre pressure regularly as underinflated tyres can cause uneven wear and reduce fuel efficiency.
2. Rotate tyres periodically according to manufacturer recommendations to promote even wear.
3. Inspect tread depth and replace tyres when tread reaches the minimum legal limit of 1.5mm for safety and handling.
4. Get wheel alignment and balancing checked regularly to prevent premature tyre wear and vibration.

Wheel bearing noise can be caused by improper installation, driving through deep water, or driving on rough roads. Improper installation by an inexperienced mechanic can cause noise. Driving through deep water allows water to damage the lubricated bearings. Driving on rough roads puts pressure on the bearings and can damage them by impact, leading to noise over time. The document discusses these three main reasons for wheel bearing noise and recommends taking the car to a repair shop for inspection.
Bearing Lubrication is an essential process in order to reduce friction as well as for the proper function of bearings. Let's discuss some myths related to bearing lubrication.
This document describes a tire sealant product called Tyre Secure that is injected into tires to seal punctures. It summarizes the company Excellent Enterprises that manufactures Tyre Secure and its benefits, which include preventing punctures and blowouts, extending tire life, improving fuel efficiency, and reducing downtime costs. The document provides details on how Tyre Secure works, its advantages over other products, and benefits seen after installation like maintaining air pressure, balancing tires, and decreasing operating temperatures. The self-inflating tire system was invented by CODA DEVELOPMENT and offers a major improvement over traditional tires by constantly maintaining proper tire pressure. The system uses a peristaltic pump design with a tube inside the tire that sources air from outside as the tire rotates to inflate it. Maintaining proper tire pressure improves fuel efficiency by up to 10%, reduces tire wear, and increases safety by ensuring adequate traction. While more expensive initially, the benefits of reduced maintenance and tire replacements over time mean the system saves money in the long run.

Tyres are critical for vehicle safety and handling. It is important to maintain proper tyre pressure and tread, and only use tyres that are approved for the vehicle and match the original specifications. Replacing tyres requires expertise to avoid injury or damage.
Tyre related accidents cause around 5% of the UAE traffic fatalities. All vehicle tyres must be procured, fitted and maintained properly, considering the climate of the UAE. Proper tyre maintenance is an important safety function often neglected. Maintaining proper tyre pressure, observing tyre and vehicle load limits and inspecting tyres for cuts, slashes and other irregularities are important to avoid tyre failure such as tread separation or blowout and flat tyres. Remember, tyres are the only contact between your vehicles and the road and poor tyre Maintenance could result in serious accidents.
Under-inflation/Over-inflation
Lower tyre pressure can create overload on tyres and overheat the tyres resulting in tyre damage. Over inflation causes increased stress to internal materials which can result in premature failure, poor traction and change in vehicle handling/stability.
Check the tyre pressures at least once per month using a reliable or calibrated gauge. The recommended pressures are quoted in the vehicle owner’s manual or on a sticker usually attached to a door frame or fuel cover. Make sure that the pressures are checked when the tyres are “cold”, i.e. driven less than 3 km before the check.

- The product is a tire sealant that is installed through the valve stem and coats the entire interior surface of the tire. When a puncture occurs, the rotating motion of the tire forces the sealant into the hole to form a temporary seal that becomes permanent as the tire continues to turn.
- It seals punctures up to 1/4 inch in diameter and larger punctures in heavy ply tires. Punctures seal almost instantly with little air loss. Once installed, the sealant is effective for the life of the tire.
- It is easy to use and requires no mixing or special preparation. It forms a permanent seal that will not separate inside the tire or migrate to the bottom.

There are several factors that can affect tyre life. Some factors are unavoidable like seasonal and climatic conditions or the type of work and roads. Other factors are avoidable through proper maintenance like wheel alignment, balancing, inflation pressure, and driving habits. Maintaining proper inflation pressure can improve tyre life significantly while under inflation reduces tyre life by up to 50%. Proper tyre fitment and avoidance of misalignment, irregular wear, and overloading can also extend tyre life.
Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid used to transfer force and amplify braking pressure in automotive braking systems. It must maintain a high boiling point, consistent viscosity, and not corrode or degrade rubber components. Brake pads are available in different materials, including asbestos, semi-metallic, non-asbestos organic, low-steel, and carbon fiber composites. Semi-metallic pads are commonly used in passenger vehicles but produce more noise and dust than non-asbestos organic alternatives. The composition and properties of pads and rotors affect braking performance, noise, wear, and costs.
This document summarizes a research paper on an automatic tire pressure inflation system. It discusses how underinflated tires can negatively impact fuel efficiency, braking distance, handling, and tire life. It then describes the key components of the proposed automatic system, including a compressor, storage tank, pressure switch, battery, and solenoid valve. The system would monitor tire pressure and automatically inflate tires using compressed air from the tank when pressure drops below the recommended level. The document provides background on the importance of proper tire inflation and the impacts of underinflation.
Self-inflating tires use internal mechanisms to maintain proper air pressure without needing external sources. They bring benefits of increased safety, fuel efficiency, and tire longevity by ensuring optimal inflation. Various systems have been developed, including some that use rotating wheels to power peristaltic pumps that move air into the tire chamber. Goodyear is developing a self-inflating tire that regulates pressure through an internal tube and valves. The technology could eliminate the need to manually check and inflate tires.
Speed ratings were established to match tire speed capability to vehicle top speed. Ratings are based on lab tests of maximum sustainable speed under load. Despite high ratings, manufacturers do not recommend exceeding legal speed limits. Lower rated tires have reduced handling and safety at high speeds due to increased heat, reduced braking ability, and decreased cornering grip. Tires must match the original vehicle specifications for safety.
Tire safety precautions and instructions document outlines key guidelines for selecting and using replacement tires safely:
- Always check the vehicle manual for original tire size and load rating requirements that must be equaled or exceeded.
- Inflate tires to the correct pressure and check pressure monthly to prevent tire damage and failure.
- Do not drive on damaged, worn, or overloaded tires as it can cause loss of vehicle control. Replace tires according to wear bar indicators.
- Mixing tire types is dangerous and should be avoided whenever possible. Follow guidelines for rotation, alignment, and storage.

PS2 Tyre Fluid
1. Welcome
PS2 Tyre Fluid™ is an industrial fluid
solution that will protect your vehicle
tyre’s from leaks, blowouts and wear &
tear.
PS2 Tyre Fluid™ ensures that tyre
pressure stability is maintained and leaks
are sealed as soon as they appear.
2. Statement
Tyre Pressure - Facts
u Tyre maintenance accounts for the greatest operating
expense aside from Fuel Cost.
u Maintaining tyre pressure is the one maintenance item
that stands out on the subject of fuel economy.
u A tyre under-inflated by as little as 10% will have its
tread life reduced by as much as 15%
u A 10psi decrease in tire pressure correlates to a 3%
reduction in fuel economy
u Under-inflation is the cause for approximately 75% of
tyre burst induced accidents.
u Excessive heat causes tyre casing deterioration,
combined with scorching roads is a major factor in
regional tyre failures.
u A 4-psi variation in a dual tyre assembly will drag the
“smaller” tyre 3.9 meters every kilometre travelled.
Tyres at the wrong pressure will compromise
handling, grip and braking. As well as the
significant safety issues, incorrectly inflated
tyres will cost owners’ in excessive fuel
consumption, increased tyre maintenance
costs and operational downtime.
3. Statement
Tyre Pressure - Dangers
u Service life. Driving on under-inflated tires reduces their
endurance, causes faster degeneration.
u Braking. Incorrect tyre pressure increase the vehicle’s
braking distance.
u Road handling. With low tire pressure, steering is
affected, grip and precision driving is altered.
u Fuel consumption. Low tire pressure increases the tire’s
roll resistance and therefore fuel consumption.
u Burst. Excessive sidewall deflection causes overheating,
degradation of the internal structure, leading to “burst”
u Component Damage. Under-inflated tires increases wear
on equipment steering & suspension components.
Tyres at the wrong pressure will compromise
handling, grip and braking. As well as the
significant safety issues, incorrectly inflated
tyres will cost owners’ in excessive fuel
consumption, increased tyre maintenance
costs and operational downtime.
4. Workplace Challenges
u Many maintenance technicians will send off a tyre
under inflated at 90 psi that should be pumped to
100 psi.
u Drivers and Technicians are challenged to check
state of all tyres on vehicle with production
demands.
u As many as 85% of drivers don’t know the correct
tyre pressure for their vehicle.
u Truck drivers rely on limited access or inadequate
garage facilities to inflate tyres.
u Extreme Middle East temperatures is an added
problem if tyres are not adequately maintained
which increases likelihood of a blowout.
Don’t Feel Deflated!

11. PS2 Tyre Fluid™ in action
Pressure Stabilizer Puncture Sealant
NOTE: PS2 Tyre Fluid is a PRE-TREATMENT and is applied
to the tyre BEFORE damage occurs. Video demonstrates
how PS2 Tyre Fluid is also used as POST-TREATMENT to
repair existing punctures.
Mercedes Truck Fleet. OEM Rec pressure was 109 psi (750
kPa). Pressure readings taken before PS2 application:
Average: Tyre pressure 91 psi (630 kPa) - [16% Under OEM]
Worst: Tyre pressure 70 psi (480 kPa) - [36% Under OEM]
12. How it Works
PS2 Tyre Fluid™ is applied through the valve-stem once the valve-core has
been removed. Rotation of the tyre then evenly distributes the fluid around
the inner surface of the tyre.
When a leak occurs, internal air pressure and centrifugal force of the
rotating tyre pushes PS2 Tyre Fluid™ into the aperture. Compound fibres
are packed into the leak.
PS2 Tyre Fluid™ oxidizes on contact with the atmosphere resulting in a
permanent seal that will last the life of the tyre. A leak that occurs while
driving will seal instantly.
