2. Who washe?
Vladimir Propp was a literary critic and a scholar who
studied the idea that a certain type of character was
used in every narrative structure. This theory
influenced many filmmakers to writing and producing
successful narrative. He has also suggested that all
fiction and fairy tales should follow a specific narrative
structure.

Propp has suggested that every narrative has eight different
character types
The villain (antagonist)- Fights the hero and tries to stop him
from completing his objective.
The dispatcher- Characters who makes the villains evil known
and send the hero off on the quest.
The helper- Helps the hero complete his/hers journey.
The princess or prize- Gives the task to the hero, identifies the
‘false hero’ and marries the real ‘hero’. Propp also noted that the
princess and the father cannot be clearly distinguished.
The donor- He prepares the hero or gives the hero some magical
object.
The hero or seeker- Reacts to the donor, and finds the princess.
False hero- This character takes credit for the hero's actions or
tries to marry the princess. (Trying to take the hero's place)
4. Thevillain
This is the character who struggles against the hero,
typically with some sort of scarring. The villain will
usually wears dark and mysterious colors, and is not
very attractive to the audience. This is juxtapose
between the hero and the villain to highlight their
differences.
Here is Ultron from the
avengers. As you can see he is
dark colored and his red eyes
represent blood and violence.
5. Thedispatcher The character who invites the hero to eliminate the
evil.
This is ‘Nick Fury’ he is the
dispatcher and sends the
Avengers to fight off the
evil presence.
6. Thehelper
Character who helps the hero fight against against
evil.
This is ‘Okoye’ she helps black
panther to fight off his enemy
who is trying to take over
Wakanda. She is also the
general of the Wakandan
Army.
7. Theprincess
A princess is the character who needs to be rescued
from the villain.
This is ‘Gwen Stacy’ from
the amazing Spiderman, she
is taken by the villain and
Spiderman is trying to
rescue her throughout the
movie.
8. Thedonor
A character who offers some sort of help to the hero by
providing a certain object that will help the hero
complete his conquest.
Tony Stark is the donor in the
movie ‘Spiderman
homecoming’ He gives spider
man a special suit that helps
him fight the evil.
9. Thehero This is the most common character type. The hero
eliminates the villain and weds the princess.I used spider man from the movie
‘Spiderman homecoming’ and he
weds for ’the princess’ which is
Gwen Stacy and fights off the
villain.
