2. How I developed my location
• I was going to film my music video on the road as it links with the
UK grime genre. The lighting will be dark and gloomy as it makes it
seem as if the music video was filmed in the UK.
• However, after giving it some thought, I decides to change location
and have it in my house, pool, sauna, and kitchen. My music video
will need to be fun in order to appeal to my age group. I will use
natural lighting of sunlight as it sets a happy mood. It will mostly be
shot around my swimming pool.
3. Development of costumes and props
• For my costumes, at first I wanted to make it seem as my artist was
American by wearing hip hop clothes. However after changing my genre
to UK grime/hip hop I decided that its best for my artist to wear a
tracksuit which is typical for working class UK gangs or for grime artists.
The artists will also wear different accessories such as chains, and
designer bags to portray that he came from working class to middle class
which could appeal to my audience as it shows them the lifestyle they are
likely to have if they get out of the working class and work hard enough
to become wealthy.
• For my props, I will have alcohol bottles in the background as it will let
the audience think of my artist as a party animal who drinks alcohol to
have fun. I will also have a G63 car as it will show the luxurious side of
the artists lifestyle.
4. Development of costumes and props
This is an American artist Asap
Rocky. He is wearing a lose fit
with a hoodie, coat, and lose
red pants. This outfit is very
flashy.
This is what a UK grime/hip hop artists would
typically wear. An Adidas tracksuit. In order to
differentiate themselves from the working class
they would typically have designer accessories
to show the wealthy side of them.
5. Development of my artist
• As my first idea of making an American hip hop music video, I
needed my artists to be black American in order to let the audience
know this is a rap hip hop music video. My artist was going to have
dreads, a scarf, and a typical American rapper style.
• However, after some thought, my artist became a UK hip hop grime
artist who wears a tracksuit and has some designer accessories. I
have completely changed to where my artist is from and this shows
through the idea of two different ways that I was trying to portray
my artist through clothing and accent of the song.
6. Development of using extras
• I have chosen to have female extras in my music video as it appeals
to the male gender target audience. This will also develop my artists
as a fun individuals who appeals to women and has females around
him at all time due to his party animal personality. I decided not to
include any male extras as I am worried that this will confuse the
audience as to who is actually performing or singing in the music
video since my main artist is also of male gender.
