This document proposes replacing the tarpaal and parachute roofing system on cement wagon with a fiberglass material to reduce costs and improve quality, efficiency, and protection. The existing tarpaal system requires replacement every 20 days and has several disadvantages including a short lifespan, odor and fading issues, increased weight when wet, and fire hazards. In contrast, a fiberglass roof would last over 6 years with proper care, be more cost effective in the long run than other materials, and provide benefits like water resistance, easy installation and removal, and fire resistance. Replacing the roofs with fiberglass is estimated to save the factory approximately Rs. 630000 per year in costs compared to continuing with the tarpaal system.
