All patients experienced vision loss and involvement of cranial nerves. CT/MRI scans showed fungal invasion of the paranasal sinuses, orbits, and brain in all cases. Tissue biopsy and culture confirmed mucormycosis. All patients received intravenous amphotericin B and nine underwent surgical debridement of infected tissue. Three patients survived with long-term antifungal treatment and management of underlying conditions.

Molecular Detection and Therapeutic Management of Feline Mycoplasmosis
Mycoplasma haemofelis and Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum (formerly known as Haemobartonellafelis) are the causes of hemotropic mycoplasmosis in cats. The parasites attach to the surface of the red blood cell, and have the potential to cause severe alterations of the cell’s shape, resulting in anaemia. A three-year-old tom cat was presented in University Veterinary Hospital with symptoms of lethargy, reduced appetite and fever for past 3 days. Clinical examination revealed increased temperature(103º – 105º F), blanched mucous membranes and lymphadenopathy. Upon peripheral blood smear examination small coccoid organisms could be noticed in the periphery of the RBCs. Hematobiochemical examination revealed anaemia, thrombocytopaenia and decreased haematocrit values. The blood samples were subjected to DNA extraction and followed by Polymerase Chain Reaction which confirmed mycoplasmosis due to Mycoplasma haemofelis. The animal was treated with intravenous administration of oxytetracycline@ 10mg/kg BW for five days along with prednisolone and vitamin supplements. Uneventful clinical recovery was noticed 7 days post therapy.

A three-year-old tom cat was presented in University Veterinary Hospital with symptoms of lethargy, reduced appetite and fever for past 3 days. Clinical examination revealed increased temperature(103º – 105º F), blanched mucous membranes and lymphadenopathy. Upon peripheral blood smear examination small coccoid organisms could be noticed in the periphery of the RBCs. Hematobiochemical examination revealed anaemia, thrombocytopaenia and decreased haematocrit values. The blood samples were subjected to DNA extraction and followed by Polymerase Chain Reaction which confirmed mycoplasmosis due to Mycoplasma haemofelis. The animal was treated with intravenous administration of oxytetracycline@ 10mg/kg BW for five days along with prednisolone and vitamin supplements. Uneventful clinical recovery was noticed 7 days post therapy.

Antiphospholipid Antibody syndrome and Sirolimus

This document summarizes 4 cases of patients who developed neutropenia after undergoing liver transplantation and being prescribed the immunosuppressive drug Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF). In all 4 cases, the neutropenia resolved after discontinuing MMF. The mean time from starting MMF to developing neutropenia was 4 months. Therapeutic drug monitoring is recommended when using MMF due to the risk of hematologic toxicity.

1) The document analyzes 8 cases of late onset neutropenia (LON) in rheumatology patients treated with rituximab from a single center.
2) LON was defined as an absolute neutrophil count <1.0 x 109/L occurring at least 4 weeks after the last rituximab infusion. LON was identified in 8 patients (6% of those receiving rituximab).
3) The characteristics of LON were similar to reports in hematological malignancies, with LON appearing after a median of 23 weeks and recovering after a median of 6.5 days. Six patients were successfully rechallenged with rituximab without LON recurrence.
Paraneoplastic syndrome and cancer pancreas
Thrombocytopenia, or low platelet count, is a common paraneoplastic syndrome seen in advanced pancreatic cancer patients. The cancer cells can disseminate to the bone marrow and interfere with platelet production. Additionally, cytokines released by pancreatic cancer as well as splenic vein occlusion related to a locally advanced tumor can both cause thrombocytopenia. Studies have shown lower preoperative platelet counts correlate with worse survival outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients specifically, compared to other tumor types. The pretreatment platelet count is an important prognostic indicator for pancreatic cancer.

Describing and Interpreting an Immersive Learning Case with the Immersion Cub...
Current descriptions of immersive learning cases are often difficult or impossible to compare. This is due to a myriad of different options on what details to include, which aspects are relevant, and on the descriptive approaches employed. Also, these aspects often combine very specific details with more general guidelines or indicate intents and rationales without clarifying their implementation. In this paper we provide a method to describe immersive learning cases that is structured to enable comparisons, yet flexible enough to allow researchers and practitioners to decide which aspects to include. This method leverages a taxonomy that classifies educational aspects at three levels (uses, practices, and strategies) and then utilizes two frameworks, the Immersive Learning Brain and the Immersion Cube, to enable a structured description and interpretation of immersive learning cases. The method is then demonstrated on a published immersive learning case on training for wind turbine maintenance using virtual reality. Applying the method results in a structured artifact, the Immersive Learning Case Sheet, that tags the case with its proximal uses, practices, and strategies, and refines the free text case description to ensure that matching details are included. This contribution is thus a case description method in support of future comparative research of immersive learning cases. We then discuss how the resulting description and interpretation can be leveraged to change immersion learning cases, by enriching them (considering low-effort changes or additions) or innovating (exploring more challenging avenues of transformation). The method holds significant promise to support better-grounded research in immersive learning.

When I was asked to give a companion lecture in support of ‘The Philosophy of Science’ (https://shorturl.at/4pUXz) I decided not to walk through the detail of the many methodologies in order of use. Instead, I chose to employ a long standing, and ongoing, scientific development as an exemplar. And so, I chose the ever evolving story of Thermodynamics as a scientific investigation at its best.
Conducted over a period of >200 years, Thermodynamics R&D, and application, benefitted from the highest levels of professionalism, collaboration, and technical thoroughness. New layers of application, methodology, and practice were made possible by the progressive advance of technology. In turn, this has seen measurement and modelling accuracy continually improved at a micro and macro level.
Perhaps most importantly, Thermodynamics rapidly became a primary tool in the advance of applied science/engineering/technology, spanning micro-tech, to aerospace and cosmology. I can think of no better a story to illustrate the breadth of scientific methodologies and applications at their best.
