Abstract
Streetlights often represent one of the highest operating expenses for municipalities because of
electricity, maintenance, and replacement costs. As such, dealing with high-power like streetlights can be
a challenge for designers as they look to simplify and lower the cost of their lighting installations. Since
the move to LED lighting is primarily driven by energy savings, the efficiency of the LED drivers is
another key concern, as is the growing need to monitor the status of the LED lighting.
The LED driver eliminates the need for step-down transformers in the voltage conversion, simplifying
the power conversion to lower voltages. In another case, a highly integrated LED driver only needs two
passive components — one resistor and one capacitor — to drive a string of LEDs.

A LED driver rated power at 100W, the 70V output voltage was designed.
The proposed driver is designed for supplying an LED string composed of
two 50W white LED modulus by a 220V/50Hz line voltage.
The 50W LED module employed here is from OSRAM brand, which is
35V/1.5A, and the luminous flux is 4000LM. Then, the output current of the
LED driver is 1.5A,which is LEDs in parallel.
The output of LED driver is 70V,which is 20 LEDs in series. The static
equivalent resistance of LED lamp can be calculated with forward voltage and
flow current.

1.MOSFET modules are utilized to control the current through the LED string.
2.As the line voltage falls, the current cannot be controlled to follow the reference
current. Due to that LEDs present a non-linear load.
3.Reduces cost of the system as passive elements are not present.
4.The absence of passive components allows for a much more reliable and compact
system. The structure is to maintain a sinusoidal waveform and high power factor
operation for the system.

Problem Statement
❖ As an important part of urban infrastructure, road planning not only requires a reasonable route
design according to the whole layout of the area, but also needs a roadway illumination to facilitate
people’s travel at night.
❖ LED street lights are important devices for road lighting projects.
❖ As we know that LED lights required a driver circuit for demand characteristics, so we need to
design the driver circuit first.
❖ According to the demand characteristics, the driver circuit design changes but whatever the driver
used for LED lights are high in cost.

Since the move to LED lighting is primarily driven by energy savings, the efficiency of the LED drivers is another key concern, as is the growing need to monitor the status of the LED lighting. The LED driver eliminates the need for step-down transformers in the voltage conversion, simplifying the power conversion to lower voltages. In another case, a highly integrated LED driver only needs two passive components — one resistor and one capacitor — to drive a string of LEDs.

  • 5. Title of Paper Observations LED DRIVER BASED ON BOOST CIRCUIT AND LLC CONVERTER[ 1] A LED driver rated power at 100W, the 70V output voltage was designed. The proposed driver is designed for supplying an LED string composed of two 50W white LED modulus by a 220V/50Hz line voltage. The 50W LED module employed here is from OSRAM brand, which is 35V/1.5A, and the luminous flux is 4000LM. Then, the output current of the LED driver is 1.5A,which is LEDs in parallel. The output of LED driver is 70V,which is 20 LEDs in series. The static equivalent resistance of LED lamp can be calculated with forward voltage and flow current.
