• Government has massive nutrition program to reduce malnutrition in

• 4.24 Million children and mothers are registered under ICDS Supplementary
Nutrition Program (Children below 6 and Pregnant & Lactating women)
• ICDS SNP is implemented by Women and Child Development & Mission
Shakti Department, Government of Odisha
• Hot Cooked Meals and Take Home Rations are provided to the beneficiaries
• 6.5 Million School Kids under 4 Departments (School & Mass Education,
Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Women and
Child Development, Scheduled Caste and Tribes Development)

3. • 95% of the People Consume Fish in Odisha
• Per-capita Fish Consumption is 16 Kg/year
Odisha is a Fish Loving State: Increasing Fish in the Diet is an
Essential Route to Reducing Micronutrient Deficiencies
4. • Odisha is 4th Largest fish producer in India with total fish
production of 820,000 Tons per year
– Marine Fisheries – 480 km coastline
– Inland Fisheries – 1.10 million Ha tanks, reservoirs, lakes, rivers,
estuaries etc

16. • For sustained impacts at scale, especially in nutrition-sensitive approaches,
bridging science innovations & Government development programs is very
much essential
• Inter-Departmental Convergence is key to leveraging the resources and
bridging the value chain actors and scheme beneficiaries for quick and
wider scaling for impacts.
• Integration of the WorldFish project with Government Departments has led
to quick and effective shaping of Government policies and schemes.
• Use of external funding support from USAID for demonstration and piloting
of locally relevant and acceptable technologies has built confidence in
Government and unlocked the huge strength of Government for scaling.
• Partnership with national research institutes, CG centres, NGOs and
private sector companies has helped to quickly develop age-specific fish-
based products & to design large scale delivery mechanisms.
