Calling all socks! We're not trying to end world hunger or save endangered segulls. However our commuinty is in need ofo alot of things but most importantly SOCKS! We want to help out the ones who cant help themselfs at this moment. Our goal is to get as many pairs of clean, fresh socks as we can to donate to our local Barrie Salvation Army. We understand socks might not seem like alot but think of how degrading it would feel not to have a nice clean unripped pair of socks to put on your feet before you go out for the day?

Project
1. Our goal is to receive as many new or gently used
socks as possible for our salvation army in Barrie.
2. Warm Feet = Warm Heart
• The salvation army began in Canada. July of 1882 after major
Thomas Moore came from the u.s to take charge.
• The philosophy behind the salvation army ‘ there is little point pleading
salvation to hungry people’ as the concept ‘soup, soap, and salvation’
was adopted from William booth.
• In 1901 they recommended to the federal government that a prisoner
probation system be adopted, leading Canada's first parole program.
• In 1908 recycling began in Toronto leading to thrift stores being
created. ( where we are donating our socks )
• In 1909 parliament passed an act giving the organization legislation
• The salvation army has raised funding for over 130 years
• The salvation army is now the largest non- government direct provider
of social services in the country. Serving over 1.8 million people each
year in 400 communities across Canada.
3. We are asking you!
Thursday May 1, 2014 & May 2, 2014
Donate Socks!
New or gently used NO HOLEY socks
We are asking for as many donations of socks that we can get. Our goal is to
fill our basket to the top or more and all proceeds will be going to the
salvation army as the males that come into the facility for all different
reasons don’t have even the little things like socks.
We can Help RIGHT?
We will be holding a draw at our table. So for every 1 pair of socks you donate
your name will be entered into the draw.
1st

7. NEW OR GENTLY NEW SOCKS
• At Dollarama, Wal-Mart, and more we can
go buy socks for cheap.
• Some people have problems and don’t
realize the value of things at times and it
may not be top proity
8.
9. NOT THESE SOCKS
• When we get dressed in the morning we
all put on are socks inless in flip flops but
how would you feel in the middle of winter
with warn down or no socks on?
• I know that I would be cold and most likely
get sick. In winter they say your hand
head and feet need to be covered so if
your feet have no socks for insulation in
your boot what happens?
