Why Gamification and Immersive Technology Strategies ?
This month sees a change in the title and theme of this newsletter to incorporate “Gamification”. The reason for the change is largely that, through my own experience of gamifying my health, I have come to believe that the principles and concepts of gamification as a process are fundamentally more important than the technologies which help to create immersive experiences. The most important consideration in any serious game or simulation project is to understand how to create win-win stakeholder partnerships and turn “spectators” into “players”. This process does not depend on technology and for some applications, gamification may not require any technology at all whereas for other applications, the use of technology may be an essential enabler.
I very much hope that these changes will make for a richer and more valuable newsletter. Your feedback is welcomed.

Programming robots to help them perform human-specific tasks with Reinforcement and Imitation Learning algorithms. Robots are trained in virtual environments created in Unity using Imitation Learning from a human motion capture data. During reinforcement we used a Proximal Policy Optimization to allow robot to come up with most efficient and accurate way of performing a particular task. Later on trained neural network is reinforced by couple of minutes training in a real environment.

Today it is possible to apply the Edge to Cloud pattern in the industrial world. Microsoft is putting the idea of intelligent edge into practice by providing not only IoT Edge,but a series of field transpositions of important cloud services, including:
Functions, Storage, SQL Edge, SQL Lite, Event Grid, Redis, Stream Analytics, Cognitive Services.
In addition to these, contact points are also emerging towards the old industrial world, for example with OPC-UA.
The session deals with the IoT Edge service in a focused way, compared to the concept of connected factory.
