Eagle West Wind Energy Inc. successfully completed multiple wind farm projects across Canada, including installations of Enercon and Siemens turbines, showcasing their expertise in overcoming challenging conditions such as extreme weather and difficult terrains. These projects, such as the Castle Rock Ridge and Bear Mountain wind farms, collectively generate significant renewable energy enough to power tens of thousands of homes. 1. Castle Rock Ridge Project
In April 2011, Eagle West Wind Energy Inc. applied their experience and expertise to complete the installation of 33
Enercon E70s (2.3MW) at the Castle Rock Ridge Wind Farm in Pincher Creek, AB.
This wind farm will generate approximately 76 MW of power, which will produce enough clean, renewable electricity
to power approximately 20,000 typical Canadian homes.
This project began in September 2010 for Enercon Canada & Enercon Services Nova Scotia who specializes in the
manufacturing and marketing of wind turbines and wind energy plants.
This installation wasn’t without its challenges; crews faced temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of
up to 145 kilometers/hour (90 miles/hour) proving that Eagle West has the equipment and manpower necessary to
overcome any challenge safely and efficiently. “We trudged through all the obstacles and managed to complete the

erection of the turbines eight days ahead of the scheduled completion date which was March 31 ” commented Randy

At the peak of operation, Eagle West had thirty-five staff on site, six hydraulic cranes ranging from 90 ton to 300 ton,
two 300 ton crawler cranes and two freight trucks which were used to complete this large project.

3. Bear Mountain Wind Farm Project
In May 2009, Eagle West Wind Energy Inc. applied their experience and expertise to complete the installation of 34
Enercon E82s (3.0MW) at the Bear Mountain Wind Farm 10 km west of Dawson Creek, BC.
This wind farm will generate approximately 102 MW of power, which will produce enough clean, renewable electricity
to power approximately 30,000 typical Canadian homes.
This project was completed from May – September of 2009 for Enercon Canada & Enercon Services Nova Scotia
who specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of wind turbines and wind energy plants. It was stated by
Enercon that this was the most efficient and best installation that they have had in all of Canada.
This installation wasn’t without its challenges; the roads were built to only 5.5m wide. For this reason, Eagle West
purchased a Liebherr LR1400/2w Narrow Track Crawler crane which would walk fully assembled from one turbine to
the next without having to be broken down. This is in large part why the project was such a huge success for the
client.
At the peak of operation, Eagle West had sixty staff on site, six hydraulic cranes ranging from 90 ton to 300 ton, two
440 ton crawler cranes and two freight trucks which were used to complete this large project.

5. Dokie Wind Farm Project
This project was built in two phases. It began in 2008 with a phase of 5 turbines and finished with a phase in 2010 of
43 turbines. This totals 48 Vestas V90 (3MW) turbines which were erected.
This wind farm will generate approximately 144 MW of power, which will produce enough clean, renewable electricity
to power approximately 40,000 typical Canadian homes.
This project was very remote being located in Northeastern BC on a mountain side that was situated 45 km northwest
of the small town of Chetywnd, BC. Further challenges were faced due to narrow roads where the Liebherr
LR1400/2w Narrow Track proved especially helpful. Eagle West had to navigate their cranes over steep grades
throughout the mountains in very icy conditions in order to complete this project on time for our client.

6. Talbot Wind Farm Project
In December 2010, Eagle West Wind Energy completed the installation of 43 Siemens wind turbines for the Talbot
Wind Farm project near Ridgetown, Ontario. Illustrating Eagle West Wind Energy’s capability to provide turn-key
solutions in this industry, the project included the installation of wind towers, the mechanical work on all towers, all
tower electrical wiring, installation of NavCan lights and the installation of the OCAS radar system for the first time in
all of North America.
The Talbot Wind Farm generates approximately 98.9 megawatts (MW) of power, which produces enough clean,
renewable electricity to power approximately 30,000 typical Canadian homes.
The project began in August 2010 for RES Canada, a division of RES Americas. RES Americas has been active in
North America since 1997 and during this time has either developed or constructed more than 10% of the installed
capacity of wind energy in the United States.
At the peak of the project, over one hundred qualified personnel and pieces of equipment were utilized for the
completion of the wind farm. Crews managed extremely soft and muddy ground conditions while developing night lift
procedures to install turbines ensuring the project schedule was maintained in spite of dramatically short daylight
hours in the winter months. No one provides a higher level of service in wind turbine installation in Canada than Eagle
West Wind Energy.

8. Wintering Hills Wind Farm
At peak operation, Wintering Hills is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 35,000
Alberta homes, displacing the equivalent of approximately 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

The site is 64 km , so staging of activities to meet tight deadlines is critical. Working in an active oil and gas sector
also requires multiple sweeps to locate buried utilities and ensure the project site upholds Ledcor and Eagle West’s
safety standards.
The scope of work also includes temporary access roads, permanent low impact roads, an underground cable
collector system, ground wires and fibre optic cables and substation building foundations, and complete turn-key
installation of the 55 x GE 1.6 MW turbines.

9. Greenwich Lake Wind Farm
RES/Enbridge was pleased with success of Talbot and thus engaged us to erect 43 more Siemens SWT-2.3 MW
turbines at the Greenwich Lake Wind Farm.
It is located near Thunder Bay, ON. The site consists of rolling hills comprised greatly of bedrock. The roads are all
narrow and steep. These challenges are being overcome by the use of 2 x Liebherr LR1400/2w Narrow Track
Crawler Cranes.
Completed on-time and on-budget in November 2012.
