2004-10-09 MANE-VU Status Report on CATT and FASTNETRudolf Husar
1. The document provides a status report on CATT (Combined Aerosol Trajectory Tools) and FASTNET (Fast Aerosol Sensing Tools for Natural Event Tracking). 2. It summarizes that CATT and FASTNET have been integrated into the DataFed.Net system, which allows users to view, analyze, compare, and interpret various air quality datasets and trajectory models. 3. It demonstrates some examples of using DataFed.Net to analyze trajectories, aerosol measurements, and other data to identify potential sources of various air pollution events.
This document discusses the use of e-science, or collaborative science using advanced computing and networking infrastructure, in archaeology. It describes how e-science allows for global collaboration, sharing of resources securely over networks, and new forms of collaboration. Examples provided include projects linking digital archives and publications, using geospatial modeling to simulate ancient battles, and constructing geodatabases of archaeological evidence like tephra deposits. E-science provides opportunities to better analyze and understand large, heterogeneous archaeological data sources.
The document discusses how the DataFed system allows users to access and integrate distributed fire-related data sources to build web applications. DataFed provides wrappers to make datasets like MODIS fire locations and Forest Service weather data accessible via web services. These datasets can then be overlaid and analyzed spatially and temporally to generate insights into fire activity, smoke impacts, and comparisons between different data sources. Examples are given of web applications created using DataFed to analyze fire pixels, locations, acres burned, and air quality effects.

Ur-Energy is an advanced pre-production junior mining company focused on developing low-cost uranium production properties in the United States. The company owns the Lost Creek property in Wyoming, which has received several key licenses and permits and needs only one remaining regulatory approval. Construction is expected to begin this summer and production is planned to start in the second quarter of next year, ramping up to 1 million pounds per year. The property has increased uranium resources and preliminary economic assessments confirm its low operating costs and high projected returns.

This document discusses the challenges of integrating heterogeneous air quality information systems from different autonomous providers. It proposes that a loosely coupled, service-oriented architecture using standard protocols and web services can help deliver consolidated air quality data and products to diverse users. Specifically, the DataFed system developed by EPA homogenizes distributed data and allows customized analysis and reporting while respecting the autonomy of existing data systems. Overcoming organizational differences and encouraging collaboration will help further align existing stars in air quality informatics.
The document discusses the Petabye Scale Data Challenge for the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). It outlines the objectives and milestones of WLCG and describes the ASGC Tier-1 Center in Taiwan and its role in providing services to the Asia Pacific region. It then discusses the challenges of managing petabyte-scale data, including ensuring sufficient bandwidth and storage system performance, scalability, and manageability. The storage management system used is CASTOR and its various configurations including disk caches, tape pools, and core services are described. Plans for expanding storage capacity and upgrading the tape system are also mentioned.

This document provides the Indian Standard (IS) design criteria for reinforced concrete bins used for bulk storage of granular and powdery materials. Some key points:
1) It covers the structural design of circular, polygonal, and interstice bins.
2) It defines important terminology used for bin design like bin loads, granular materials, powdery materials, etc.
3) It outlines the notations used in the standard for parameters like bin diameter, wall thickness, reinforcement area, load calculations, etc.
This document provides an overview of Ur-Energy, an advanced pre-production junior mining company focused on developing low-cost uranium production properties in the United States. Key points include that Ur-Energy owns the Lost Creek property in Wyoming, which has NI 43-101 defined resources and is their primary development project. Lost Creek requires one remaining regulatory approval but has completed significant permitting and technical work positioning it for construction to begin this summer and production in 2013. Ur-Energy has also expanded their land holdings and resources through recent acquisitions and exploration.
The document contains forward-looking statements regarding Ur-Energy's projects and timelines, which inherently involve risks and uncertainties. It provides a disclaimer about the preliminary nature of projections in the presentation. The document also cautions readers on the use of certain mineral resource terminology under US standards. W. William Boberg, as a Qualified Person, supervised the technical content.
Big Yellow Group PLC reported results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2014. Key highlights included 8% occupancy growth, a 6% increase in net achieved rent per square foot, and a 15% rise in adjusted profit before tax. The company also saw a 49% increase in its total dividend for the year and a reduction in net debt. Big Yellow maintains a competitive advantage through its large brand recognition, prominent store locations, high customer service levels, and focus on occupancy and revenue growth.
Ur-Energy is a junior mining company focused on exploring and developing uranium properties in the United States and Canada. Its objectives are to become a low-cost uranium producer, evaluate strategic opportunities, build shareholder value, and create value from its historic databases. The presentation provides an overview of Ur-Energy, including its stock information and capitalization, analyst coverage, management team, and properties in Wyoming's Great Divide Basin.
The Fred Creek Drainage Improvements project sought to stabilize eroding creek banks in Tulsa, Oklahoma while creating an attractive green space. Redi-Rock retaining walls were used to line the creek and control erosion. The walls were installed in sections to allow the creek flow to be diverted during construction. Finally, native plants were added to create a healthier ecosystem.
This document provides instructions for installing a Redi-Rock retaining wall. It begins with a pre-construction checklist that outlines important safety, engineering, planning, and material staging considerations. It then provides detailed instructions on constructing the leveling pad, setting the bottom row of blocks, and building successive rows of blocks. Specific guidance is given for open-graded stone, dense-graded stone, and concrete leveling pads. The document emphasizes compaction requirements and proper placement of drainage stone and geotextile fabric.
This document discusses various water applications for Redi-Rock retaining wall systems, including shoreline protection, marinas, open channels/flood control, water control, retention ponds, culverts & bridges, and river banks. It provides examples of projects utilizing Redi-Rock for these applications and highlights the engineering tools and analysis software available to design Redi-Rock walls for water features. The document also briefly discusses the installation process for Redi-Rock systems.

Tower Cranes vs. Mobile Cranes - Case History - Eagle West Cranes & EquipmentEagle West Cranes JB
Two similar construction projects used different crane strategies - one with four mobile cranes and the other with two tower cranes on mobile bases. The project using tower cranes saw substantially faster progress due to the cranes' ability to access materials across the large site with fewer units. This prevented delays and reduced costs through improved cycle times and less need for site roads and equipment, increasing revenue.

Eagle West Cranes was hired by Jacob Bros Construction to unload and install a two-piece vault for a highway construction project in Tsawwassen, BC. The site had limited access and soft ground conditions, making the work challenging. An Eagle West operator used a 180-ton crane to lift each vault piece from the truck and set it down at the back of the site. A 125-ton crane was then used to hoist and install the 20,000 pound vault pieces. The project superintendent from Jacob Bros praised Eagle West for their safe and efficient work and plans to hire them for future projects.
Eagle West Cranes was contracted by Imperial Signs Corporation to hoist two large signs approximately 120 feet for installation at the BCIT campus in Burnaby, BC. Using a 40 ton crane with jib and a 14' spreader bar, Eagle West safely completed the one-day project. Imperial Signs' Operations Manager commented that Eagle West is professional, organized, timely, focused on safety, and that they will work with Eagle West again and recommend them to others.
