2. Introduction
The pulpy fruit tree of
tropical America. It is
about the size and shape
of a large pear; called
also avocado pear,
alligator pear.
8. Production Technology of
Avocado in Pakistan
Location: Chhara pani (Marree)
Varieties are grown:
1-California
2-Seloan
Climate:
This subtropical species needs a climate
without frost and not too much wind. The
plantlets of Avocado should be protected
from frost for 3 years.
Soil:
Don’t required specific type of soil but the
drainage system of soil should be best.
9. Time of Plantation
1. California is planted in Zaed
Khareef season and give fruit in
August.
2. Seloan is planted in Khareef
season and give fruit in
Octuber/November.
10. Propagation
While an avocado
propagated by seed,
the offspring is
unlikely to resemble
the parent cultivar in
fruit quality. Thus,
commercial orchards
are planted using
grafting
and
budding methods.
11. Establishment of a garden
Plant x Plant
distance = 9
meters
and it is
planted in to
the pit of 1x1
diameter
12. Irrigation
In the first 3 years irrigation
should be given carefully
In summer season irrigation
should be given after 10 days.
In winter irrigation should be
applied after 20 days.
Also the amount of raining should
be kept under consideration.
13. Fertilizer Application
A mature plant
requires 60kg
FYM every year
in January.
Chemical fertilizers
can be applied
according to
need.
15.
Harvest and post-harvest
The avocado fruit
does not ripen on
the tree, but will
fall off or be
picked in a hard,
"green" state, then
it will ripen quickly
on the ground.

17. Nutritional Facts
Avocados provide nearly 20 essential
nutrients, including fiber, potassium,
Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid.
They also act as a "nutrient booster"
by enabling the body to absorb more
fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha
and beta-carotene, in foods that are
eaten with the fruit.
