The document is a production diary for a student film project. Over multiple entries spanning from November 2016 to March 2017, it documents the progress made on pre-production, production, and post-production tasks for the film. These include writing character profiles, storyboards, conducting audience research, acquiring filming locations and permissions, the film shoots, and editing the trailer. It also notes agreements made and next steps at each stage of the process.
1) The pre-production stage for the student's film project was extremely difficult due to struggles getting the script and storyboard completed on time. Several mistakes were made and improvements could have been made with better teamwork and time management.
2) During production, filming went well on the first day but the group struggled with timing and planning. Some shots could have been improved with better lighting.
3) Post-production was the most stressful as editing the footage to the beat of the song took a long time and was made more difficult by not having enough planned footage due to issues in pre-production. The student feels they have learned lessons for better planning and timing in future projects.
The document describes the process the author took to design the front and inside pages of a magazine. For the front cover, the author chose a black and white skateboarding image, selected a bold Asian-style font, and used an orange color for subheadings to make the magazine look fresh and bold. On the inside pages, the author chose a consistent color scheme, font, and included stories and images about skateboarding gear and YouTube channels to maintain the magazine's theme.
The student created a pop dance music video that challenged conventions by never showing the main characters together. They researched mainstream and indie artists to inform their work. While the video used conventions like lip syncing, it did not follow a clear storyline. The ancillary materials like CD covers and posters maintained continuity with the video through consistent use of images, fonts, and colors. Audience feedback helped improve shots that were off balance. The student used online resources, TV, radio, and campus equipment and software at various stages of research, planning, filming, and evaluation.
The document discusses the process of designing a DVD cover and magazine advertisement for an artist. Several edited photos were considered but not used due to concerns about understandability. The designer settled on a black and white close-up photo of the artist, removing blemishes and adding effects to look more professional. Fonts, layout, and additional details were selected to achieve a simple yet effective style. The final design was well-received by the team with no needed improvements.
The document discusses the process of designing a magazine cover and double page spread using Photoshop and InDesign. The author started by opening a photo in Photoshop and creating layers, then cropped the background and edited colors and properties to give the photo a more professional look. Next, the author arranged title text on different layers over the edited photo. Finally, the author used InDesign for the first time to create the double page spread, placing boxes and text, with a lengthy trial and error process. The author was happy with the result but felt more time and experience with the software could have produced an even better quality final product.

By the end, the student had completed all their coursework and presented it on their blog.
Dan Watt evaluates his work on various assignments for a media studies course. He created mind maps analyzing different music videos, tags representing music genres, and a music video ideas mind map. He also made presentations on music video jobs and budgets. Watt wrote scripts for a group music video and storyboarded shots. For his rough cut, he edited footage and included a variety of shots. In his final cut, he added fade transitions and ended with a fade to black. While pleased with his variety of shots and overall flow, he notes some footage was too similar and the chosen song limited flexibility.
Dan Watt evaluates his blog assignments for a media course. He created mind maps analyzing three music videos, tags and mood boards exploring genres, and scripts for a hypothetical music video. With his group, he developed a script, conducted a casting call, scouted locations, did risk assessments, and created a storyboard. For his rough cut, Watt edited together footage but could have added more effects. He analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of his final music video re-edit and discusses improvements made from the rough cut, such as added fade transitions. While more footage variety would have been preferable, Watt believes he and his group collaborated well in their production process.

Christian Owens evaluated his final music video project for an indie music genre class. He chose to create a music video for the song "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons with his group. Through the filming and editing stages, he faced challenges like unpredictable weather during outdoor filming and not having all the shots needed from filming. In his editing, he worked to match the script and fill gaps while keeping the singer looking isolated as intended. His final video included title sequences and minor color effects to make it look more professional without distracting from the content. Overall, he was happy with how the video turned out and would film more footage next time to have more options in editing.

I think Amy and I managed our time fairly well but could have been more
consistent with our working. We tended to relax and then have to work hard at
the last minute to get things done. However we did manage to complete our
task and I am pleased with the overall product.
I think Amy and I worked well as a team, we both gave ideas for the
development of the story and I felt Amy was always willing to try new ideas. I
felt Amy was good at thinking logically about how to overcome an obstacle
and worked well with the camera. I felt however she could have been more
involved in the editing of the video and the creating of the ancillary task.
Although I realise only one person can work on it at a time I would have liked
to have had her helping in the more technical side of the project. Overall I
think we were a good team.
