This document summarizes a probability mapping technique for myocardial infarction. The technique uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify scar tissue and map its location and extent in the heart. It generates a probability map to enhance visualization of the infarction core area and border zone. This probability mapping could be a useful clinical tool to help with decision making and customized treatment for patients who have had a myocardial infarction. The technique has been validated through image analysis and clinical trials. A patent is pending for the probability mapping method and technology.
