Prince Sports Business Analysis
For many companies, sales figures are usually a measure success, tennis is no exception. In North
America, tennis can be measured by the annual racket and tennis ball sales (Heitner, 2015). Prince
Sports, a sports racquet company, has several different product lines. Their Prince brand serves
tennis, squash, and badminton players. Racquet ball players may recognize the Ektelon brand and
the Viking product line equips platform or table tennis players. Prince Sport's tennis line consists of
over 150 different racquet models, more than 50 different tennis string variants, footwear, apparel,
and countless types of bags. Prince Sports has prided themselves on their history of developing
innovative items such as the first oversize long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although imperfect, marketing research will help define a marketing problem and opportunity by
systematically collecting and analyzing information, develop relative findings, and help to develop
the appropriate marketing actions. This marketing research can be done by implementing a five–step
plan. The first step is to define the problem facing Prince Sports. Here, marketing research specific
measurable objectives are identified. Next, the research plan is developed with any constraints on
the research, the actual data needed, and how best to collect the required data. The third step of the
research plan is to collect the relevant information or data. Prince Sports needs to collect primary
and secondary data to make rational, informed marketing decisions. There are numerous ways to
collect such data, two of which are panels and experiments, and data mining. Once the data has been
collected, Prince Sports will be to analyze the different data and develop findings related to the data
collected. Once the data has been analyzed, the results will be presented to Prince Sports leadership
who are responsible for developing different marketing actions. The final step of the marketing
research plan is to take the marketing actions and implement and monitor the recommendations. An

College Sports Is A Multi Billion Dollar Business
Can you list off companies that are worth a billion dollars? I'm sure you may be able to list a few.
Let me help you out. Here are ten of the world's most gigantic business in (billions), and they started
in a garage– Yankee Candle, Mattel, Maglite, Lotus Cars, Hewlett– Packard, Harley Davidson,
Google, Disney, Apple, and Amazon. All huge businesses. However, did you happen to think of
college sports? College sports is a multi–billion–dollar business. Let me share with you an example.
In 2012, the NCAA men's basketball March Madness tournament in, "TV ad earnings along eclipsed
$1 billion" (Cheney–Rice Zak, Mic.com). Furthermore, in that very same year, "The NFL playoffs
generated $976 million, while the NBA, MLB and NHL playoffs combined failed to out earn March
Madness, clocking a paltry $991 million" (el at,. Rice). I believe the best business model in the
world is coming to the end. It comes down to it; it's the NCAA vs. Student Athletes. I don't agree
with the current business model in college sports for three reasons. First, the term student–athlete;
does that name really exist? Second, the money NCAA is making is outrageous; they could pay their
players. Lastly, these student–athletes bring more future students to their universities because of
college sports.
Nonetheless, what seems to be in my eyes is an apparent employer–laborer relationship. An
association that's a professional sports league in virtually everyway but its name– the NCAA avoids
paying players by

The Impact Of The Business Environment On The Development...
The influence of the business environment on the development of sports industry In modern society,
Sports are a major part of how people live their lives, and has evolved rapidly over the last century
to the multibillion pound industry that it is today. 100 to 150 years ago, most modern sports did not
exist and the industries that were available back then, would be barely recognisable to what they are
today. This is because technology and commercialisation were primitive. The reason for this, is that
newspapers and basic advertising was the only way that the general public could be informed of
sports or sports advertising. This is because television, radios, computers and the internet had not yet
been invented. In addition to this, the sports around then, were not considered "Organised sports"
and the ones that were, had only just been invented and needed more development. The definition of
an organised sport is "Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often
engaged in competitively" (Maxwell 2009) furthermore, the sports industry has enabled science to
advance on human biology, This has been done by the analysis and the development of performance
athletes. 209 Sport has changed significantly over the last century, In the 1900s and early 21st
century. as in the 18th century sport was an aristocratic privilege that only the few could participate.
However this changed as in the 19th century, there was growing Concerns for the physical health of

Technology and Sports Marketing
Technology and Sports Marketing
Sports' marketing is a comparatively new field and dimension within the broad concept of
marketing. It is continuously evolving and changing today as society combats the free market to
decide the legal and ethical limitations of business today. It is significant to note that this discipline
within marketing is not clearly defined. Sports today use corporate sponsorships and television
money in order to contend and pay for top quality athletes. Those companies use teams, leagues,
colleges, and individuals to make a distinction between their products in a very aggressive business
environment. What makes up sports marketing to one person could be considered selling out to
another. The business world keeps pushing to find a competitive advantage and the sports world has
in general welcomed the money offered (Weikel, n.d.). Every area of marketing communication is
being greatly affected by advances in interactive communication (Sport Marketing on the Internet,
n.d.). In 2005 digital sports marketing began to integrate thing like sms text messaging and
community sites. Digital sports' marketing has benefits for athletes, rights holders, sponsors and
fans. In fact brand to fan communication is becoming easier everyday with tools like Facebook,
Youtube, iphone apps and more pervasive tools like sms text messaging. Digital is now a vital part
of sports marketing and media. Sponsorship activation needs to comprise new media as a key
mechanism to

Walter O Mally Model
While I learned many things from the lecture that I had not known prior, the three things that stood
out to me the most on Managing Sport in the 21st century were as followed: 1) The three models of
sport (economic impact, product type and sport activity). 2) The impact of Walter O'Malley on sport
as a business. 3) Sport defined and the great divide over it.
The three models of sport is something the average fan like myself has little concept about. We see
the big fancy venues and the ads on television but rarely do we consider how the big sport machine
works. The economic impact model brings to light the increased revenue for cities and the general
economic activity associated with sport. The product type model which we as consumers fall

Jamie discussed challenges and adversity she has faced working in the industry and how it has made
her a more valuable employee. You have to have thick skin to work in this industry and you cannot
let the little things bother you. It is crucial that you focus on your job and do the best you can

money to be made in sports and entertainment and the hours are long, so you really have to love
what you do. Hockey in Southern California is growing but people have so many other areas

Sports Industry Research Paper
When it comes to the overall structure of the sports industry, it is fairly basic. Clubs, teams, and
other major sports organizations embody a combination of amateur, recreational, or professional
athletes. The business structures of the organizations associated with these sports are very different
in structure but they all have a common core that includes a management side and a labor side. The
sports industry is a multi–billion dollar industry with each of the four major leagues composing of
commissioners who oversee the association as a whole. Their aim is to continue to expand their
growth and viewership of their sport all across the globe. For example, on the world stage,
basketball is right behind soccer in the category of most popular sports. The NBA has very little
competition when it comes to it's annual earnings as there is no other basketball association that
even comes close to what the NBA has been able to accomplish over the past ... Show more content

In order to have a successful business of any kind, on any scale, you must have an effective
competitive strategy. One major competitive strategy of the sports industry is to continue to grow its
popularity all across the globe. For example, while football is a nationally known sport, not all
countries are very familiar with the NFL. By making people aware of what the NFL entails, they
hope to continue to increase not only its popularity, but also its viewership and merchandise sales.
All major sports industries continue to create major alliances with not only retailers, but also major
television networks. Broadcasting the sport is so important to the growth of an industry such as
sports. The more people watching, the more money there is to be made. That is why it is so
important for the different companies and leagues to spread knowledge and televise events not only
on a national level, but also an international

The Importance Of Sports Diversity
Diversity originally was referred to as race, gender, or sexual orientation, but today its meaning has
expanded. Diversity also involves economic, educational, and generational differences. Diversity's
counterpart inclusion supports that all individuals are valuable to the organization, not just those
who are different. Diversity and inclusion have great value to the performance of any entity. Ethics
deals with moral principles that govern a person's behavior. Throughout the semester we have
discussed diversity, inclusion, and ethics in sport and how they affect individuals in the workplace as
well as life in general as I will discuss throughout my research. We've also applied these terms with
classroom activities and relevant events held throughout the semester including guest speakers, the
boxing gala, and most recently the IFC.
Sports play a major, if sometimes unappreciated, role in the lives of Americans. (Simon, R., Torres,
C. and Hager, P. (n.d.). Fair play.) America is a sports crazed culture that has overtime spread
throughout the world. Participating in sports can bring new challenges to an individual and teach
valuable life lessons along the way. (Thornton, P., Champion, W. and Ruddell, L. (2012). Sports
ethics for sports management professionals. Sudbury, MA: Jones & Bartlett.) Concepts can be
learned through sports such as hard work, dedication, team building, competition, and
sportsmanship, and these skills can be transferred to one's personal life. Many

Why Do Sports Matter
Why do sports matter?
Embedded in sports are many useful life skills that help people develop as social beings. In society
today, sports play a major role in people's lives. One may wonder, why it is easier to know what is
going on in the sports world as opposed to the local news. Well, sports provide an outlet for human
beings. Since the invention of each sport, people have gathered together to watch a game, which as a
result has formed a common bond. Someone could be having the worst day possible, but then one
may remember that their favorite team is playing tonight and the frown vanishes. Happiness is

Major sporting events such as the World Cup and the Olympics unite people from all around the
world through a shared interest. Sports bring forth people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
and they indirectly force one to work together as a team. Mere exposure to other individuals
facilitates the cultivation of deeper interpersonal bonds; this is a result of interaction as teammates.
As a team, one is constantly looking out for each other. In the video, "Sports Matter: Baseball," a
young teenager lost a very close relative and showed heartbreak as a result. He didn't let a loss
physically impede his passion for baseball. Rather, the loss enabled him to become a stronger
individual. His team was very aware of the situation and, in a brotherly manner, they were by his
side through his experience. Because of that, he was able to overcome the agony and create a
stronger bond with his teammates. If baseball was absent in his life, he may have never been able to
find a way to release the pain associated with losing someone he cared dearly about. This shows that
sports matter in society because it provides a resource and direction through friendships for those
who are suffering in

momentum is because it is on a personal level where you make the decisions. However for business

Gender Challenges Within The Business Of Sports
Abstract Gender challenges in sports have been around for centuries. Male and female genders are
treated differently in more than one way. The research I have gathered show the differences in all
aspects of sports related business areas such as, ticket sales, facilities, price of tickets, media
coverage, Sports Illustrated covers, and sports reporters. The purpose of this research is to bring
attention the disparities that women follow in the business of sports. Women are stereotyped,
discriminated against, and harassed in all aspects I have discussed. So my final thoughts on my
research are that women will always be acknowledged for their beauty, body, and sex appeal. A

The purpose of this research is to bring attention to the lack of women's sports coverage in the
media and show how male sports have taken priority over women's sports. Gender Challenges in
Ticket Sales In 1994 the ticket prices for 308 different universities within the NCAA division 1
men's and women's basketball teams were validated in a study. The study shows that men's prices
started out higher than the price of women's basketball tickets. From 1994 to 1997 both men's and
women's ticket prices increased a quarter. (p. 229) by 1997 men's basketball tickets totaled to be
$9.75 and women's tickets were $4.75. (p. 230) Analysis shows that the increase in men's tickets
compared to women's is shown through the evaluation of each athletic program.(p. 234) For
example, the University of Tennessee women's basketball program is stronger than the men's
basketball program therefore ticket sells for the UT women's basketball is going to be a higher
margin than the men. The University of Kentucky men's basketball program is stronger than the
women's so the big blue fan base would be paying a higher price to watch the wildcats play at Rupp
Arena than the lady cats playing Memorial Coliseum. The discrepancy in gender shows that the
ticket prices for men tend to be higher than women. From the study in the early 90's to now the
ticket pricing has shown more equity in both genders athletic events. Discrimination in Olympics

My Influence Of Sports On My Life
Through my life, I have always been willing to try new things. I have learned it is ok to fail, no

thing stands out to me. I love sports. I have participated in sports since a young age, and I have
discovered that a vast majority of my relationships have been made through the sports world. I can
talk about sports all day long. My obsession started at a young age. The first memory I have of
watching sports was on February 1st, 2004. That was the date of Super Bowl 38. Before that date, I

That Super Bowl win in 2004 subconsciously initiated my quest to become an NFL general
manager. When I turned seven years old, my parents bought me Madden 2006 for my birthday. That
same year I begged my parents to sign me up for the local football league. Football was my first
love. If I wasn't at the field practicing football, I was throwing with my dad and other kids in the
neighborhood. Sometimes I would beg other kids' dads to throw to me because their kids couldn't
throw it hard enough or far enough. When I was tired and couldn't play any more football, I would
come home and play Madden. I played Madden religiously. I played with every NFL team and
learned as many names as I could. The thing that captivated me about Madden was the player
ratings. Each player had numeric attributes numbered from 25 to 99 that affected their overall rating.
The ratings included speed, strength, acceleration, agility, catching, tackling, and awareness. My
favorite thing to do was to look through the numbers. I slowly memorized the names of hundreds of
NFL players and used the attributes to determine what type of player they were. I used a
composition notebook to write down names of my favorite players. I wrote down some of their
notable attributes in the journal. On Sundays, I would watch NFL games all day and watch the
players I wrote in my journal. I wondered what it would be like to put together a team with all the

Monetization On the other hand, the monetization of the application to the new target market is easy.

The commercialization of college athletics has created a strain on universities to move beyond
simply providing an education in exchange for participation in sports. Proponents of paying athletes
fail to understand college is about education. Creating or changing the current system which relies
on playing for pride, would create vulnerabilities in how schools recruit, offer scholarships, and
create institutions of learning. Students have complained schools have been making money off the
hard work of the students. This argument is contrary to the responsibilities which the NCAA has to

Nocera offers an idea to operate the NCAA with a salary cap system. By limiting the amount of
money available to athletic programs, the college would use the fixed amount to recruit players
above the amount of money invested in a student's education. A salary cap system at first appears to
be straight forward until the argument addresses sports outside of mainstream audiences.
Nocera's idea of a salary cap supports Marx's argument of pay for play athletes. The concerns are the
fair and equitable application of such an argument. "Title IX requires that female and male student–
athletes receive athletics scholarship dollars proportional to their participation(NCAA). This
provision creates a fair system to apply scholarship funds throughout collegiate sports within a
school. The addition of compensation will create an imbalanced system that rewards a select student
group beyond a more diverse student body that participates in sports.
Money as the motivator undermines the value of the education received by student athletes.
Allowing schools to provide an education in exchange for participation in sports is fair
compensation to the overall student body. Only three sports generate revenue for athletic programs,
football as well as men's and women's basketball. Having such great interest focused on a small
portion of collegiate sports, colleges with limited funds will be pressured

children's skiwear and 11% of adult Skiwear market. Sport Obermeyer produces merchandise
ranging from: parkas, vests, ski suits, shells, ski pants, turtlenecks, and accessories. These products

These experiences led Klaus to introduce a variety of skiwear products. He is credited in making the
first goose down vest out of an old down comforter. Klaus also introduced turtlenecks, wind shirts in
the U.S. and in 1980 he popularized the "ski brake." Klaus products are targeted for serious skiers.
Eighty five percent of the Sport Obermeyer's market is a serious skier that utilizes the products for
winter activities. Sport Obermeyer's produces manufactures for five different genders: men, women,
boys, girls, and preschoolers. Each gender market offers an excellent price/value relationship, where
value was defined as both functionality and style. Sport Obermeyer's focuses on the middle to high–
end ski–market. Functionality was critical to the serious skier–products, which had to be warm and
waterproof, yet not constrain the skier's ability to move his or her arms and legs freely. Management
believed that the effective implementation of its product strategy relied on several logistics–related
activities, including delivering matching collections of products to retailers at the same time (to
allow consumers to view and purchase coordinated items at the same time), and delivering products
to retail stores early in the selling season (to maximize the number of "square–footage days"
products were available at retail). Since the beginning Klaus has been actively involved in the
company's management.

Personal Statement Of Purpose: A Career In Sports Business
Kushal J. Patel 08/29/15
New York University Statement of Purpose
I am applying to New York University for the M.S. program in Sports Business, with a
concentration in Global Sports Media. My interest in sports goes back to when I was a child.
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a heart condition known as Atrial Septal Defect at the age of
sixteen, which put an end to my athletic career. I might have had a hole in my heart, but I didn't let
that stop me from following sports. In fact, sports became my passion. I'm determined to make a
career change and use the analytical skills I have gained from my finance background to follow my
passion.

For me, sports are an exhilarating experience, unequaled by anything else because they are
unscripted. Through the course of a season, anything can happen. The most elite athletes from
around the world compete at the highest level. These athletes make a difficult sport appear easy on a
regular basis. It would be immensely gratifying for me to be able to contribute something to the
understanding of a subject that has given me so much pleasure and joy. I believe that I have the
capacity to make the commitment and to accept the challenges that a career in sports business
involves. Those challenges consist of competition, networking, hours, resources and travel. Though
the sports industry is huge, competition is fierce and at times cut throat. Networking is essential and
an individual has to feel comfortable communicating with numerous people on a daily basis.
Moreover, sports management isn't a normal nine to five job. A professional may end up spending
most, if not entirely, all of his day working. It can require substantial time away from home as well.
Yet, the biggest challenge is utilizing the resources available wisely. I am confident that I have the
requisite aptitude, exposure and motivation to make a meaningful contribution to my chosen

Sport agents negotiate contracts for athletes. However, their responsibilities don't stop at a business
representative but also include a mentor, advisor, lawyer, and mostly a friend. Professional athletes
tend to get mixed into legal problems at some point in their career and the agents are there to take
control of the problem. Although, a sport agent may not be a lawyer, so they have their own people
that may come in and provide that certain service. Along with a professional athlete comes media
attention, an agent would be a second voice for his/her client. For example, helping promote the
athlete, investments, sponsorships, or even in an embarrassing time where the client may not want to
show his/her face on camera. A good sport agent would have a personal relationship with each their
clients. Agents also need to have an understanding that most professional athletes have short playing
careers so marking that player and setting up endorsements during their prime to earn them the most
money possible makes a good agent, great. The Players Tribune states, "5 Qualities Your Sports

How Business Has Affected Sports
Throughout the ages sport has always taken some form, whether it was to train the armies during the
medieval era to the current explosion that has become the global football industry. This essay will
discuss whether or not sport has become a subject that is no longer just about itself, but has gained a
heavy focus on business more so than itself. To do this, the essay will look at how business has
affected two sports sectors and their 'elite ' level of sport, by delving into the way in which it has
affected the English Premier League (Football) and the National Football League (American
Football).
If you were to go and ask a random person on the street to name a sport that they know, the
likelihood of them replying with football would be up there with one of the top group of responses,
as in recent years it has experienced a high growth rate in terms of money invested and global
participators. When looking at this from an outside angle however, the question is whether or not
these recently formed teams and leagues have been created for the love or the sport, or have they
seen the potential to earn a high level of revenue and have taken the route of making it a business
venture?
To provide background in order to formulate and answer to this question we can look at the history
of the 'English game ' and the formational of the globally recognised 'Premier League '. In the 1991–
1992 emerged victorious against all their rivals and won the English First Division for the

Sports and the Business World Essay
Sports and the Business World
In the wide world of sports, teams will try and find a way to better market themselves in the nation
to make more revenue. There are many ways to market your team but in the newer generation teams
have been taking a different approach. Most teams will advertise there big sports star in trying to
have people buy there gear, buy tickets, or simply support their team. But the most effective way to
market your team is getting to the kids first. In advertising for a younger generation, you will tie the

As teams use youth marketing to make their organization grow, they must realize it's important to
know the most appropriate time to deliver certain messages. Marketers must understand that
marketing to a seven year old must be different than marketing to a ten year old. For example, the
NFL has been working in the past few months to sharpen their focus. They have really focused on
the eleven to fourteen year old group. Statistics show that the time in the life cycle when kids are
making decisions about participating in football and long–lasting decisions about sports
consumption and viewership.
Many teams have decided that the best way to create interest among kids and teenagers is to market
to their parents, using as a hook the sporting event as the ideal family outing. Team's youth target the
kids indirectly through their parents. Using print ads in regional editions of family and parenting

are only limited resources on the earth and due to issues like poverty, overpopulation, and
insufficient productivity in many countries, these resources are inappropriately utilized. The controls

affected in particular was a man named Jason Martin. Jason attended the University of South

receive such positions in this field is that the sports industry has been largely increasing across the
world. The struggle that other graduates are finding is that industry's growth is slowing, if not
reversing. As in the article it states," Students are receiving fewer job offers this spring or are

their professors say, is that austerity may become the norm, forcing students to scale down or
abandon their ESPN–fueled dreams." It is hard to believe that people pursuing in this major may

Sports : An Essential Component Of Education
Sports in the twentieth first century has become an essential component of education. Recreational
athletic activities have a great role in perfecting the human spirit. Through healthy competition
sports influence the cultivation of will, perseverance, responsibility and the ability to overcome and
eliminate many different challenges. Moreover sport is a great tool which gathers people together
towards a common objective, regardless of their nationality, race, religion or beliefs – both on the
field and in the stands. Today the era of technology and media has changed professional sport into a
business. For a player or coach – training is a profession. For the audience it is a consumer market.
Therefore the athlete's road is full of temptations, which deals with many ethical dilemmas. More
often we hear about competitors forgetting about the rule "fair play" while getting into scandals
regarding doping, selling matches, or inappropriate behavior. The pedagogical aspect of recreational
sport is undeniable, however in the presence of professional sports with elements of fighting and
rivalry it would be simply difficult to say that sport is a physical activity, aimed at education for the
recognition of moral values. Ethics is a scientific discipline, which deals with recognition of
morality. The ultimate attempt of ethics is to distinguish between what is good and bad, just and
unjust, right and wrong. Although ethics and morality are two different concepts, today many people

Prince Sports Business Analysis

  • 1. Prince Sports Business Analysis For many companies, sales figures are usually a measure success, tennis is no exception. In North America, tennis can be measured by the annual racket and tennis ball sales (Heitner, 2015). Prince Sports, a sports racquet company, has several different product lines. Their Prince brand serves tennis, squash, and badminton players. Racquet ball players may recognize the Ektelon brand and the Viking product line equips platform or table tennis players. Prince Sport's tennis line consists of over 150 different racquet models, more than 50 different tennis string variants, footwear, apparel, and countless types of bags. Prince Sports has prided themselves on their history of developing innovative items such as the first oversize long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although imperfect, marketing research will help define a marketing problem and opportunity by systematically collecting and analyzing information, develop relative findings, and help to develop the appropriate marketing actions. This marketing research can be done by implementing a five–step plan. The first step is to define the problem facing Prince Sports. Here, marketing research specific measurable objectives are identified. Next, the research plan is developed with any constraints on the research, the actual data needed, and how best to collect the required data. The third step of the research plan is to collect the relevant information or data. Prince Sports needs to collect primary and secondary data to make rational, informed marketing decisions. There are numerous ways to collect such data, two of which are panels and experiments, and data mining. Once the data has been collected, Prince Sports will be to analyze the different data and develop findings related to the data collected. Once the data has been analyzed, the results will be presented to Prince Sports leadership who are responsible for developing different marketing actions. The final step of the marketing research plan is to take the marketing actions and implement and monitor the recommendations. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. College Sports Is A Multi Billion Dollar Business Can you list off companies that are worth a billion dollars? I'm sure you may be able to list a few. Let me help you out. Here are ten of the world's most gigantic business in (billions), and they started in a garage– Yankee Candle, Mattel, Maglite, Lotus Cars, Hewlett– Packard, Harley Davidson, Google, Disney, Apple, and Amazon. All huge businesses. However, did you happen to think of college sports? College sports is a multi–billion–dollar business. Let me share with you an example. In 2012, the NCAA men's basketball March Madness tournament in, "TV ad earnings along eclipsed $1 billion" (Cheney–Rice Zak, Mic.com). Furthermore, in that very same year, "The NFL playoffs generated $976 million, while the NBA, MLB and NHL playoffs combined failed to out earn March Madness, clocking a paltry $991 million" (el at,. Rice). I believe the best business model in the world is coming to the end. It comes down to it; it's the NCAA vs. Student Athletes. I don't agree with the current business model in college sports for three reasons. First, the term student–athlete; does that name really exist? Second, the money NCAA is making is outrageous; they could pay their players. Lastly, these student–athletes bring more future students to their universities because of college sports. Nonetheless, what seems to be in my eyes is an apparent employer–laborer relationship. An association that's a professional sports league in virtually everyway but its name– the NCAA avoids paying players by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Impact Of The Business Environment On The Development... The influence of the business environment on the development of sports industry In modern society, Sports are a major part of how people live their lives, and has evolved rapidly over the last century to the multibillion pound industry that it is today. 100 to 150 years ago, most modern sports did not exist and the industries that were available back then, would be barely recognisable to what they are today. This is because technology and commercialisation were primitive. The reason for this, is that newspapers and basic advertising was the only way that the general public could be informed of sports or sports advertising. This is because television, radios, computers and the internet had not yet been invented. In addition to this, the sports around then, were not considered "Organised sports" and the ones that were, had only just been invented and needed more development. The definition of an organised sport is "Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively" (Maxwell 2009) furthermore, the sports industry has enabled science to advance on human biology, This has been done by the analysis and the development of performance athletes. 209 Sport has changed significantly over the last century, In the 1900s and early 21st century. as in the 18th century sport was an aristocratic privilege that only the few could participate. However this changed as in the 19th century, there was growing Concerns for the physical health of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Technology and Sports Marketing Technology and Sports Marketing Sports' marketing is a comparatively new field and dimension within the broad concept of marketing. It is continuously evolving and changing today as society combats the free market to decide the legal and ethical limitations of business today. It is significant to note that this discipline within marketing is not clearly defined. Sports today use corporate sponsorships and television money in order to contend and pay for top quality athletes. Those companies use teams, leagues, colleges, and individuals to make a distinction between their products in a very aggressive business environment. What makes up sports marketing to one person could be considered selling out to another. The business world keeps pushing to find a competitive advantage and the sports world has in general welcomed the money offered (Weikel, n.d.). Every area of marketing communication is being greatly affected by advances in interactive communication (Sport Marketing on the Internet, n.d.). In 2005 digital sports marketing began to integrate thing like sms text messaging and community sites. Digital sports' marketing has benefits for athletes, rights holders, sponsors and fans. In fact brand to fan communication is becoming easier everyday with tools like Facebook, Youtube, iphone apps and more pervasive tools like sms text messaging. Digital is now a vital part of sports marketing and media. Sponsorship activation needs to comprise new media as a key mechanism to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Walter O Mally Model While I learned many things from the lecture that I had not known prior, the three things that stood out to me the most on Managing Sport in the 21st century were as followed: 1) The three models of sport (economic impact, product type and sport activity). 2) The impact of Walter O'Malley on sport as a business. 3) Sport defined and the great divide over it. The three models of sport is something the average fan like myself has little concept about. We see the big fancy venues and the ads on television but rarely do we consider how the big sport machine works. The economic impact model brings to light the increased revenue for cities and the general economic activity associated with sport. The product type model which we as consumers fall ... • 13. Sports Industry Research Paper When it comes to the overall structure of the sports industry, it is fairly basic. Clubs, teams, and other major sports organizations embody a combination of amateur, recreational, or professional athletes. The business structures of the organizations associated with these sports are very different in structure but they all have a common core that includes a management side and a labor side. The sports industry is a multi–billion dollar industry with each of the four major leagues composing of commissioners who oversee the association as a whole. Their aim is to continue to expand their growth and viewership of their sport all across the globe. For example, on the world stage, basketball is right behind soccer in the category of most popular sports. By making people aware of what the NFL entails, they hope to continue to increase not only its popularity, but also its viewership and merchandise sales. All major sports industries continue to create major alliances with not only retailers, but also major television networks. • 21. The Importance Of Sports Diversity Diversity originally was referred to as race, gender, or sexual orientation, but today its meaning has expanded. Diversity also involves economic, educational, and generational differences. Diversity's counterpart inclusion supports that all individuals are valuable to the organization, not just those who are different. Diversity and inclusion have great value to the performance of any entity. Ethics deals with moral principles that govern a person's behavior. Throughout the semester we have discussed diversity, inclusion, and ethics in sport and how they affect individuals in the workplace as well as life in general as I will discuss throughout my research. We've also applied these terms with classroom activities and relevant events held throughout the semester including guest speakers, the boxing gala, and most recently the IFC. Sports play a major, if sometimes unappreciated, role in the lives of Americans. (Simon, R., Torres, C. and Hager, P. (n.d.). Fair play.) America is a sports crazed culture that has overtime spread throughout the world. Participating in sports can bring new challenges to an individual and teach valuable life lessons along the way. (Thornton, P., Champion, W. and Ruddell, L. (2012). Sports ethics for sports management professionals. Sudbury, MA: Jones & Bartlett.) Well, sports provide an outlet for human beings. Since the invention of each sport, people have gathered together to watch a game, which as a result has formed a common bond. Sports bring forth people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and they indirectly force one to work together as a team. Mere exposure to other individuals facilitates the cultivation of deeper interpersonal bonds; this is a result of interaction as teammates. As a team, one is constantly looking out for each other. In the video, "Sports Matter: Baseball," a young teenager lost a very close relative and showed heartbreak as a result. He didn't let a loss physically impede his passion for baseball. Rather, the loss enabled him to become a stronger individual. His team was very aware of the situation and, in a brotherly manner, they were by his side through his experience. Because of that, he was able to overcome the agony and create a stronger bond with his teammates. Fantasy is a newer concept that has only been around for a couple of years, yet it is a fast growing market. One of the big reasons that I think this market is picking up such momentum is because it is on a personal level where you make the decisions. However for business and marketing this is a terrific opportunity to doing things like ads because of the number in the audience that you would be reaching. The purpose of this research is to bring attention the disparities that women follow in the business of sports. (p. 230) Analysis shows that the increase in men's tickets compared to women's is shown through the evaluation of each athletic program.(p. 234) For example, the University of Tennessee women's basketball program is stronger than the men's basketball program therefore ticket sells for the UT women's basketball is going to be a higher margin than the men. The University of Kentucky men's basketball program is stronger than the women's so the big blue fan base would be paying a higher price to watch the wildcats play at Rupp Arena than the lady cats playing Memorial Coliseum. The discrepancy in gender shows that the ticket prices for men tend to be higher than women. What I have learned is that people have many qualities that define them. However, they often choose one specific interest to build the majority of their lives around. For me, that interest is connecting two things I love – sports and people. Combining my love of these through the business of sports provides a unique opportunity to pursue my passion and to share the love of sport with others. The way that people think, absorb, react to information is a unique process which happens in a matter of seconds. Out of the many interests that I have pursued, one thing stands out to me. I love sports. I have participated in sports since a young age, and I have discovered that a vast majority of my relationships have been made through the sports world. I can talk about sports all day long. My obsession started at a young age. The first memory I have of watching sports was on February 1st, 2004. That was the date of Super Bowl 38. Before that date, I did not really know much about football. After that game, I desired to know as much as possible. On that day, I remember running around my house like any ... When I turned seven years old, my parents bought me Madden 2006 for my birthday. That same year I begged my parents to sign me up for the local football league. Football was my first love. If I wasn't at the field practicing football, I was throwing with my dad and other kids in the neighborhood. Sometimes I would beg other kids' dads to throw to me because their kids couldn't throw it hard enough or far enough. When I was tired and couldn't play any more football, I would come home and play Madden. I played Madden religiously. I played with every NFL team and learned as many names as I could. The thing that captivated me about Madden was the player ratings. Each player had numeric attributes numbered from 25 to 99 that affected their overall rating. The ratings included speed, strength, acceleration, agility, catching, tackling, and awareness. My favorite thing to do was to look through the numbers. I slowly memorized the names of hundreds of NFL players and used the attributes to determine what type of player they were. I used a composition notebook to write down names of my favorite players. I wrote down some of their notable attributes in the journal. On Sundays, I would watch NFL games all day and watch the players I wrote in my journal. This provision creates a fair system to apply scholarship funds throughout collegiate sports within a school. How Business Has Affected Sports Throughout the ages sport has always taken some form, whether it was to train the armies during the medieval era to the current explosion that has become the global football industry. This essay will discuss whether or not sport has become a subject that is no longer just about itself, but has gained a heavy focus on business more so than itself. To do this, the essay will look at how business has affected two sports sectors and their 'elite ' level of sport, by delving into the way in which it has affected the English Premier League (Football) and the National Football League (American Football). To provide background in order to formulate and answer to this question we can look at the history of the 'English game ' and the formational of the globally recognised 'Premier League '.
