During the Babylonian Exile, the prophets offered hope and guidance to the Israelites. They encouraged the people to obey God and change their ways. The prophets also envisioned a just society where all people would be treated fairly. Their message influenced later religions. They quoted the prophets' words about creating a just world. The passages from Amos and Jeremiah predicted punishment for those who disobeyed God but ultimately promised a restoration and a righteous leader who would bring safety and justice.
Nebuchadnezzar's Dream--The Death Of A DynastyCarman de Voer
The following presentation applies a 'High Context' Lens to Nebuchadnezzar's Dream. This "lens" assumes that Nebuchadnezzar’s dream applied specifically to ancient Israel during the Babylonian Captivity. Nebuchadnezzar's dream thus telescoped a time when his regime would be destroyed and replaced by one that would permit the Israelites to return to their homeland to re-build the temple in preparation for the Messiah. The dream’s interpretation would have had an immediate impact on the morale of Daniel's captive people, since whatever affected the Babylonian administration also impacted them. Therefore Daniel's captive people became the beneficiaries of the "statue’s" destruction! The dream, therefore, had no prophetic relevance beyond Daniel's day. The Living Bread - 19th Sunday of Ordinary Time (Year B)ruth (Malta)
The "original" powerpoints are done in Maltese to accompany the readings at the 9:30 and 11am Mass. I NEVER fisnish such a ppt before Sunday 3am at the earliest. Usually it is about 5am i finish it... I'm one of those who leaves things to the very last minute - hate the "stress" of it and yet love it at the same time... (kind of enjoy racing with time?)
but today it was different...
Thursday i thought i'd do the readings and yesterday - friday - i thought 'd start it. I actually FINISHED it this morning (Saturday)and having done that thought i'd do it in English so that i can upload it and share it with those i care about on the internet. ..and anyone else who happens to come across it :-)
I loved the readings - actually i always do - but today i liked them better - i always like them better too - but anyway...
I am thankful to God for all His Blessings, For the Holy Eucharist, for Mary Our Mother and for the Church.
At the end of the ppt, just after the readings i put a few quotes on the Holy Eucharist - all of them found on the internet.
May God bless and fill with joy all of those who seek to know Him and love Him better: God loves each one of us so much!!! :-)

Many believe America is the greatest nation ever blessed by God, but few believe she ought to be mentioned in the Bible. The following argument should cause skeptics to believe otherwise, in that America has blessed Israel more than any nation in history. America is the mighty nation which won the two world wars that enabled the Jews to go back home, and then afterward stood as their only friend. Since every nation that affected ancient Israel had been mentioned in the Bible, and since God does not change in his ways, why would he not mention America in the end time prophecies of Daniel and Revelation? In truth, America ought to be shining in the Bible as brightly as a full moon rising on a cloudless night . . . and she does.
Chapter 5 Jeremiah: Plucking Up and PlantingJonathan Bacon
This slideshow provides information on Jeremiah (Old Testament) to supplement Chapter 5 of Richard A. Brown's "Speak to the Bones: How to Be a Prophetic People in a Time of Exile."
In this sermon we look closely at the history of Israel as a people and nation, the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, as well as what the Scriptures foretell will happen to them in the future. We also discuss the role of the Kingdom, Israel and the Church and how these are related.

Before the glorious messianic era, Israel must be regathered from their worldwide dispersion and settled in her promised land. Among the Jews, the remnant who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Messiah will be restored in His millennium kingdom, where all believers in Christ will probably live forever...
The following articles show us how we are close to the time of fulfillment of these prophecies concerning Israel...
This is a study of Jesus as the glory of His people. He was the glory of God coming to bless Israel with even greater light than that which enlightened the Gentiles.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Lesson 2 The Israelite Kingdom
The Prophets
After a period of fighting, the Chaldeans reclaimed Jerusalem
in 586 b.c. The Chaldean king Nebuchadnezzar responded
harshly to the people of Judah’s revolt. He demolished
Jerusalem. In doing so, he destroyed the temple. He also
captured the king and took thousands of people from Judah to
Babylon. This time is known as the Babylonian Exile. It marks
a difficult time in Jewish history. Many of Judah’s people were
saddened to live so far away from their homeland.
During this time, the prophets played a crucial role. They
offered hope during a period of great sorrow. The prophets
also provided guidance to those in need. They pointed out
when the people were not obeying God. They encouraged
people to change their lives for the better.
The prophets also focused on making the world a better place.
They wrote about the Jewish goal of a just society in which all
people are treated fairly. Their words influenced both
Christianity and Islam. In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
quoted the prophets in his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
Directions Answer the following questions.
Reading 1
“Surely the eyes of the Sovereign LORD
are on the sinful kingdom.
I will destroy it
from the face of the earth.
Yet I will not totally destroy
the descendants of Jacob,”
declares the LORD.
“For I will give the command,
and I will shake the people of Israel
among all the nations
as grain is shaken in a sieve,
and not a pebble will reach the ground.
